It seems to be rife! Basically, bad cold / flu like symptoms, chesty cough (not Covid) BUT, it hits you like a freight train for about a week, then you feel better for a few days BUT IT COMES BACK WORSE?

I can’t recall ever feeling this rough, and it’s not just me there are 13 children off school in my child’s class with the same thing, and the parents in the group chat saying similar although some lucky ducks have dodged it.

Wondering if this is happening everywhere or just in our wee village?

We have all had a bad cold before but the fact it goes and comes back is weird, it’s really dragging on now I’m into the third week of it.

Yabu - no such thing happening near us
Yanbu - it’s everywhere and I’m sick of it now

Yes my DH started with it on Monday and I've succumbed to it yesterday and feeling absolutely crap Sad

Iusedtobedontcall · 16/12/2022 16:19

Yep - I’m in the second week of it. Been off work for 4 days and my head and ears are ringing and buzzing.

Oh nooo! I’m sorry, it really is horrid isn’t it. Lemsip has taken the edge off but barely. I hope you get rid of it this first week and it doesn’t come back again x

My daughter has it. She’s been so ill.

warofthemonstertrucks · 16/12/2022 16:20

Yep. I'm on day 10 or 11 now. Had to have a week and half off work, went back in yesterday and felt progressively worse, now going back to bed. Had all the symptoms except the really and cough. Now have the really bad cough. I e never felt this poorly even with covid. Very behind on everything christmas and very fed up having missed all my planned stuff.

yes! It hit me about ten days ago and I’m still coughing my guts up. The doctor has just given me steroids for the wheeze

nancydroo · 16/12/2022 16:21

We've all got it. Everyone at work has got it. Why do we keep going? Duvet day needed

That’s so sad I’m sorry, it’s awful watching your little ones struggle. I really hope she’s over the worst soon and you manage to dodge it. Fingers crossed you’re both well for Christmas x

Yessss! We have all had it. Day 6 here. Dh seems to be OK today. I was this morning but bad again now. Its horrible

sickwithcovid · 16/12/2022 16:22

I have covid and I feel horrific. I have all those symptoms you describe plus aches all over my body ☹️

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 16/12/2022 16:22

DS has had it, now I have it and DP is starting to feel ill. It's horrendous

Iusedtobedontcall · 16/12/2022 16:22

I keep wanting to get up and do things but the wooziness won’t let me. It’s horrid. I feel ok in bed dosed up, but not much else!

Iusedtobedontcall · 16/12/2022 16:23

I had the muscular aches but they’ve gone thankfully. I now have sensitive teeth too? Weird.

Good for you, get back in bed and stay there honestly it’s about all that helps. Fair play you tried to get back into work, your superwoman I can barely feed and dress the kids at this point. I’m behind on all the Christmas stuff too, I’m actively trying not to think about it 🙈

DH has it, started like normal cold that wiped him out for a few days, then he was OK for about 5 days, then cough got really bad and he was floored again. He's still coughing like mad - hope it improves by Weds, as I moved some theatre tickets from last week to then on the assumption he'd be OK to go out again, and the show's much more for him than me.

14YO has just come down with it night before a concert that they now can't sing in.

I'm not sure if I'm coming down with it, or if I'm just having a milder version - I had cold symptoms end of last week, a bit tired but nothing too awful and felt better at weekend, still a bit snotty and have had a mild cough that is getting incrementally a teeny-tiny bit worse since Monday. My guess is if I get to Sunday without getting much worse it's just a milder version.

Squirrelblanket · 16/12/2022 16:24

I came down with it at Halloween and I've only been fully 'normal' this week. I felt better from the end of November but couldn't shift the annoying cough for ages.

postcardpuffin · 16/12/2022 16:24

Yes I’ve had it now for about two weeks, and am still full of chesty cough and wheeze and feeling grim and totally exhausted — sat down this morning with a coffee and woke up four hours later on the sofa dribbling on the cat! Really want to feel better soon!

ConfusedmumUC · 16/12/2022 16:25

Absolutely this is where I’m at too, I rest up in bed and then think right I feel a bit better I’ll crack on with the house work but I’m up for about 15 minutes before I feel dreadful. I hope you feel better soon because this is just miserable x

Yes it’s very common atm, I’ve seen people talking about it on Twitter and I know I have had it too.

Mine started late November, it was only a week after I’d recovered from another virus. I felt totally wiped out and could barely move for the first couple of days, my body hurt whenever I moved and even the sensation of clothing and things like water and deodorant on my skin hurt. I still have the runny nose and cough now and it’s been three weeks. Every time I go running I have a huge coughing fit when I get back which is really irritating.

BeatieBourke · 16/12/2022 16:25

I am in the midst of this. End of week 1. Helpfully, I was part way through getting over some broken ribs when it hit. So now I have incredibly sore ribs, and an awful cough. Excellent combination.

I am thoroughly, thoroughly fed up and not feeling remotely Christmassy. I just want to sleep for a week (no chance).

Somuchgoo · 16/12/2022 16:25

I'm on day 17 here, and tried to go out for lunch today, and I couldn't wait to get back home to try and do some with from bed. It's awful. Covid was like a mild sniffle compared to this.

Justcashnosweets · 16/12/2022 16:26

Yes, me and OH have had it. I'm into week 2 and had to phone in sick today as I have been struggling in work with it. I feel worse than I did when I had Covid. I'm just glad that DD hasn't succumbed to it yet.

Nooo oh my goodness that is wild, I’m sorry you had such a long stint of it. Glad you’re feeling brighter now, here’s hoping I got get a 6 week dose of this I can’t cope 🙈😂
