To ask if you have this “bug” that’s going around?

It seems to be rife! Basically, bad cold / flu like symptoms, chesty cough (not Covid) BUT, it hits you like a freight train for about a week, then you feel better for a few days BUT IT COMES BACK WORSE?

I can’t recall ever feeling this rough, and it’s not just me there are 13 children off school in my child’s class with the same thing, and the parents in the group chat saying similar although some lucky ducks have dodged it.

Wondering if this is happening everywhere or just in our wee village?

We have all had a bad cold before but the fact it goes and comes back is weird, it’s really dragging on now I’m into the third week of it.

I’ve had it a week now. Most of the actual discrete symptoms have improved but I still feel like shit.

I just don’t have the energy or enthusiasm to do anything. I can’t even think about Christmas dinner for example and I’m usually an extremely enthusiastic eater!

I had the sore teeth thing as well - really weird. That lasted about 3 days.

I had teeth pain too.

So much snot when that started. I went through a box of 80 tissues in 24hrs!

Now I had a fry cough and a very very very sore nose.

I lost 2kg in less than a week too as I couldn't eat anything.

Been putting that back on the past few days lol.

I will keep everything crossed it doesn’t come back for you! It came back worse for me about 5-6 days later and honestly I may as well have been hit by a bus I’ve never felt so utterly drained. Oh and the headaches and wooziness mean even when I want to get in and do things I feel like I need a lie down. I’m never usually ill so I’m sulking about it more than I’ve any right to 😂

I’d lost so much weight I looked fab in my party dress ( from one side only , as I had a huge cold sore on my lip , but fantastic arms ! )

I also have a rash on my face which appeared around the same time, it's awful. I don't have the sensitive teeth but have everything else 😭

Omg it comes back? I've started feeling a little better today so was hopefull I was coming through the worst of it.

The pains in my bones have been awful, especially my pelvis and femur. And the constant fluctuations in temp, one min boiling the next freezing.

I also had sore teeth!

Yes had it for over a week now, first 4 days I was very unwell, don’t feel great now but so much better then I was. Everyone I know seems to have had it or currently have it.

The local primary had 140 children off on Monday, all the same symptoms.

Yep, husband and I have the man flu, my son has scarlett fever and the baby has a bad cold.

We're on the third member of staff out of a team of 6 with it. I'm hoping that having my own, out of the way, office will mean I'll miss it - I need a rest over Christmas, not to be sick!

DC1 and I have got it. DH has mild symptoms. Felt full of cold for about three weeks but it then ramped up last weekend and now turning into sinusitis. Main symptoms are chesty cough, non stop cough, achey teeth, loss of appetite, no taste or smell (which has led to some interesting nappy incidents), insomnia, being generally tired. Been off work a week, not getting any rest because looking after DC1 as well. Thought I'd go back to work on Monday but I doubt it at this rate. I'm pregnant so limited on what medication I can take 😩 So fed up being ill like this in the run up to Christmas. Also testing negative for covid.

I’ve had 2 weeks since around mid-October where I haven’t had cold and flu symptoms in some shape or form.
Currently got a weird cough that feels chesty but then when I cough it feels like the cough isn’t coming out properly, and my sinuses are on fire.

I live in Austria and I've had this on and off since the end of October. It's a nightmare. It just keeps coming back.
The cough is really annoying - if something irritates my throat or my lungs I have a coughing fit which just won't stop.
I also had the sore teeth - frightened myself that something's gone wrong with them but then I realized the tooth pain was connected to the other symptoms. In the phases when I've been better there was no tooth pain.
I'm also constantly knackered and can barely exercise at all and I'm someone who hikes long distances all the time. I can manage about 500 metres!!

My house has it - DS came down with it first with a really nasty bout of impetigo (he’s susceptible to it) so the GP swabbed for Strep A. No results yet.

Glad others have mentioned the teeth thing - mine feels like wisdom teeth pushing forward. Body aches too - sensitive skin.

I need to make some dinner but feel horrendous. My head is so sore. Beechams All in One is helping a bit but 4 doses a day isn’t enough!

Kind of, had a stinking cold last week...then it went, now today I have a really sore throat and cough.

When I read the title I was going to comment I had it and then was fine for about 5 days and now I've got it again! So weird, I've never had colds/virus/whateverthehellthisis like this before. Last night I got no sleep at all but managed to get in a 3 hour nap earlier. Feel like absolute shite and almost everyone I know has had it too (or is currently still suffering).

DS1 had it a few weeks ago. Then 2 weeks later he got Covid, and he was quite poorly. He text me yesterday to say he’s got another flu bug and was unable to keep anything down. He said he’s not felt this ill in his life, he mentioned hurting teeth, too. He’s a 28yo very fit soldier.

Think it’s the same thing I’ve got croaky voice, cough and runny nose I had all over body pains the first day and a spinning head starting to feel a bit better now no pains just a croaky voice, cough and runny nose. I caught it off my mum and my mum caught off my niece who got it in school but we all know how much of a germ fest schools are.

I have been a teacher 8 years . This is the most unwell I have been .
I have had flu one 12 years ago. I’ve been unwell since but never like this !

Cough- now a chest infection .
on antibiotics. Started Sunday and after thinking possibly I was making some head way yesterday I’ve been horrendous today . I’m 12 weeks pregnant and I’m scared as I’m so poorly .

13 month old has it too. He’s never been sick before. He has been to the hospital twice And is on antibiotics.

I am in bed and I can’t believe it started Sunday abs today is Friday and I’m feeling absolutely horrendous. I’ve been in bed mainly all week.

On Tuesday the dr wouldn’t perscribe me anything . I was in an awful state . My midwife saw me at the drs and demanded I went into her room and said I needed antibiotics immediately but the reason the dr wouldn’t perscribe is because there is a huge shortage. Thankfully after husband driving an hour away we located some . Scary .

Had this about 4 weeks ago. Only started to feel less fatigued in the last week 🤞 it turned in to a sinus infection and I got antibiotics which helped.

I had bright yellow (like nearly neon) mucus coming in waves from my nose. Very attractive I’m sure. I’d be interested to hear if anyone else with this illness had the BRIGHT yellow snot in droves?

What are you all eating? I need to eat or I will feel weaker but I'm still shivering under the duvet. My throat feels in tatters and my eye balls on fire.

Our household has it too. It has been horrible, and my guess it that it is a new variant of Covid too. The only other symptom I've had is an occasional nosebleed.

Mines cleared now but I had it. Coughed so hard I vomited. Which is a low.

I've got it at ten weeks pregnant with first and it's an ivf oregnancy so I'm freaking out it'll effect the baby!
