I met a guy last night and there was a huge attraction- intense eye contact, lots of smiling and intimate looks.

If it was me, I wouldn't - I'd assume if he was genuinely interested he'd have found a way to ask for my number / I'd have asked for his (regardless of whatever mystery circumstances it was inappropriate to ask in).
