Cleaner had her DC there with her today

I've had my cleaned for about 3 months. She's really good. I really like her work

Anyway, I gave her a key last week and today I popped home for lunch unexpectedly. She had her DD there with her...

Apparently it's a teacher training day for them and so her DD had to come too. I asked why she couldn't reschedule to do another date or even better, come this evening?

She said she couldn't come this evening due to her DS coming home, he's disabled, and she'd just much rather not let me down for my allocated day so thought she'd just being DD along

I said okay... and that was that

AIBU to think she should've asked my permission first?

So not to drip feed, she was sat at my dining table doing colouring and had a few toys out

Wouldn't have bothered me in the slightest.

Buttercupmoon · 11/11/2022 18:15

It's a one off. Just let go.

Shinyandnew1 · 11/11/2022 18:15

If I was the cleaner, I would have checked that was ok with you first

SavoirFlair · 11/11/2022 18:15

good god

Batshittery · 11/11/2022 18:17

If the cleaner was cleaning, what's the problem? She still turned up

Alfiemoon1 · 11/11/2022 18:17

Wouldn’t of bothered me

mynameiscalypso · 11/11/2022 18:17

Wouldn't bother me at all. My cleaner spends most of the time she's cleaning on the phone. Couldn't care less so long as it's clean.

changinglanesagain · 11/11/2022 18:17

I just think she should've asked me first, that's all

Seems odd she wouldn't ask for my blessing and just not mention it at all if I hadn't showed up

OP posts:
PhoebeTheBride · 11/11/2022 18:17

why do you care? like what would be the problem in your head?

YABU

Clymene · 11/11/2022 18:19

OMG she was sitting at your dining table? Colouring? A cleaner's child?!

Do you realise what a crashing snob you sound??

TropicalTenticle · 11/11/2022 18:19

Wouldn't bother me at all unless she didn't clean the house.

Tomatoeplantpants · 11/11/2022 18:19

So she was cleaning and the children were unsupervised at the dining table ? I would not be ok with that at all.

Yes. She was cleaning the guest room when I came in, and her DD was downstairs unattended

Propertyporn · 11/11/2022 18:20

Of course she should have asked op. Mumsnet is really weird about cleaners! You'd never expect a carer or social worker to just rock up to someone's house with their children in tow so not sure why cleaners get a pass. I'm a cleaner and would never take my children without the clients permission.

YorkshireIndie · 11/11/2022 18:20

It would have been better if the cleaner had asked but if the child had only sat there then no harm no foul

SavoirFlair · 11/11/2022 18:22

From the way you speak on here @changinglanesagain i completely see why she didn’t ask.

she should have, but this “my home is my castle” bullshit some people have in UK, means she knows that if you “gave it your blessing” she would probably feel as tall as a Playmobil person

I wouldn't give a shiny shit. But then that's probably why I was invited to my cleaner's wedding and she's worked for me for 8 years.

IntrovertedPenguin · 11/11/2022 18:22

YABU, there was no harm done so what is your issue? It's not like they were bouncing on your bed, smashing your stuff.

SandyY2K · 11/11/2022 18:23

I just think she should've asked me first, that's all

I agree with you.

You didn't give permission for anyone else to enter your home. I wouldn't be best pleased about it, but I would probably have agreed if she asked beforehand.

Personally, I would tell her to let you know in advance if it happens again, so you can decide whether or not to reschedule.

WotsitsQuavers · 11/11/2022 18:23

Ohhh, she's a slave?

Sparkletastic · 11/11/2022 18:23
