Well she's staggered on to PMQs today. Get the popcorn ready.

No chance, which is a shame. Painful to watch but you can't turn away.

SleeplessInEngland · 19/10/2022 10:27

Wow, a new thread already. Her slow, painful political death continues...

mistopheles · 19/10/2022 10:28

Where are you watching? Can't see it on parliament live.

CafeCremeMerci · 19/10/2022 10:28

What do you mean 'she's staggered onto PMQ's'? They don't start for an hour & a half yet?

MermaidEyes · 19/10/2022 10:28

I think with her ego she'll have to be dragged kicking and screaming before she resigns.

I assume they mean 'she hasn't resigned yet and has staggered this far'.

sunnydaytoday0 · 19/10/2022 10:33

I think it could be more interesting what the questions from her backbenchers will be rather than the opposition. I imagine Starmer might go for derision and laughter at the PM rather than controlled anger.

TooBigForMyBoots · 19/10/2022 10:34

I'm looking forward to it.😊

SleeplessInEngland · 19/10/2022 10:35

My guess is the consensus will be 'that PMQs wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be for her', as though PMQs means anything at all anymore.

Backbenchers will support her and clap like seals because they haven't decided who should take over.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 19/10/2022 10:36

Don't get too excited. She'll be as wooden and formulaic as usual, long pauses before each answer, not actually answering the question but banging on about stability and growth, just the same LT we've come to expect.

@TooBigForMyBoots

Sorry to stalk you across threads. I do agree with this

The Tories destroyed women's rights. We are in a worse position than we were in 2010. I can't understand anyone who thinks or ever thought a vote for Conservatives was good for women.🤦‍♀️

I am baffled by the people saying esp here that they will vote Tory because 'labour don't know what a woman is'

All the women's rights which have been given away have happened under the Tories. It's such a warning to take notice of actions rather than words. The Tories have been more adroit at answering questions but ... if you look at their record of what has happened in the last decade, it's all on them.

This is exactly why I struggle with both. I am a Labour Party member (by the skin of my teeth) because I think leaving just means they are ever more stuck in their echo chamber. They need some dissenting voices within.

But we HAVE to vote Labour to get this bunch out. It's about women's rights AS WELL as absolutely everything else.

Braverman and Truss seem to be protecting women's spaces and pushing back against the Police and their misinformation and that is so welcome, but it is the only thing they are doing for women and, as important as it is, they are screwing us all in every other respect.

SleeplessInEngland · 19/10/2022 10:49

If the Conservative leadership election were rerun today, 64% of would vote for Rishi Sunak, while 36% would back Liz Truss - Opinium Research.

"Sorry we were such fucking idiots, everyone" - tory members

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 19/10/2022 10:52

Who on gods green earth are the third who would STILL vote for liz truss?!?!?!

SleeplessInEngland · 19/10/2022 10:54

More polling fun, care of Ipsos:

Key stat. The public have always recognised that several factors were influencing the rising cost of living, eg Ukraine. But now the govt’s policies are seen as one of / if not ‘the’ decisive factor. Which is politically disastrous for the Tories.

DuncinToffee · 19/10/2022 10:57

Labour will have a crisis of living and an economic Trussterfuck to deal with, I suspect things like self ID will be low on their list of priorities.

She probably still had a fair chunk of the grey vote but if the triple lock goes then definitely not.

Agree

They can't all be disaster capitalists 😀

Let's see what impact breaking the triple lock on pensions has.

Booklover3 · 19/10/2022 11:05

Unfortunately, I think she will continue to limp on as a puppet.

SleeplessInEngland · 19/10/2022 11:08

Commons vote to keep an eye on today: the governement has made the fracking bill a three line whip, saying it's a 'confidence motion'.

Fracking is polls badly with both Lab and Tory voters.

TooBigForMyBoots · 19/10/2022 11:34

@lifeissweet, yesterday Braverman voted against buffer zones around abortion clinics to protect the women using them.

She knew the damage done by her party's Self ID, trans inclusion policies. But instead of doing anything, she and the Tories used us in a Culture war. They are nothing but damaging to women.

sunnydaytoday0 · 19/10/2022 11:59

She's just entered the chamber, smiling and looking cheery..

It is very rowdy

ParkheadParadise · 19/10/2022 12:07

What is PMQ'S all about.
A group of Adults all shouting and cheering at each other.
The whole lot of them should FUCK OFF.

MarshaBradyo · 19/10/2022 12:08

It’s a pantomime shouting and jeering
