What weird smells do you like?

Lighthearted!

what weird or unusual smells do you really like?!

I love petrol (not unusual I know but still!) and absolutely adore the smell of teabags. Not fruit or herbal tea, just typical breakfast teabags. I absolutely love them and when I was a child I used to sit with them at my nose and smell them so much (then when I blew my nose it was black and I thought it was hilarious) but even as an adult I adore the smell. I don’t really like the smell of tea, it’s just the teabags!

so, what unusual smells do you like?!

My dog's biscuity paws (like digestives) 😐

Yes! My pup’s feet smell like popcorn and I love it ❤️

Matches just after they've gone out, I love the smell of burnt matches.
The way pubs used to smell of stale beer and fags, miss it.

Iwantmyoldnameback · 11/10/2022 01:29

Vicks.

FatherDickByrne · 11/10/2022 01:29

Locks and weirs. Mmm.

TheDouglasChater · 11/10/2022 01:34

You used to get a sort of foam insert inside new zipper pencil cases, ones made of cheap plastic. I loved it.

I've never smoked but love when someone walks past with pipe or cigar (rare these days) must be outside though, it reminds me of childhood seaside holidays.

AssumingDirectControl · 11/10/2022 01:40

Cigar smoke

such a lovely smell but the taste is very different to the smell

Takingtigermountain · 11/10/2022 02:16

Both my dogs' paws ❤️.
Jeyes' Outdoor Cleaning Fluid ( reminds me of early childhood as my mum and nana worked in the Jeyes' factory and used to reek of the stuff but I loved it and they are now both long gone and it's a comforting smell)
Butterscotch Angel Delight (Original Source Shower gel Coco butter and Shea I think it is ,is just like it- again childhood)
Old Spice - reminds me of my late father .
Dettol - reminds me of being pregnant as had a craving for it.

Freshly struck matches
A brief whiff of ciggy smoke as I pass by
Builders putty
Wood shavings
Deep soil
Petrol
Traditional swimming baths
Nail polish
Magic markers
Aquariums when you open the lid
Greenhouses
Fresh tarmac
Garden bonfires (if only grass/wood is burning - no Vile plastic)

Lisa3344 · 11/10/2022 02:59

Firelighters and laundry detergent

GinJeanie · 11/10/2022 06:52

Tomato plants... 🍅 My DH hates the smell but I adore it. Don't like eating raw tomatoes though.

yerdaindicatesonbends · 11/10/2022 06:55

Creosote. I could sniff that stuff all day lol!

onlythreenow · 11/10/2022 06:56

I've never smoked and don't like that lingering cigarettte smell, but sometimes (rarely now) someone will walk past me smoking and I just love the smell.

Also agree with a freshly struck match, petrol, and dog paws. Also the smell of burning stubble in autumn.

Perfectlystill · 11/10/2022 06:59

My little dog's left ear

reallyworriedjobhunter · 11/10/2022 07:01

So many of these are great smells.

I also love the smell of the warm air that comes out of the hoover.

MushMonster · 11/10/2022 07:01

Shoe polish

ByTheGrace · 11/10/2022 07:01

Wood shavings and workshops, rubber - I used to have a pair of (scuba) fin retainers that I would chew 😳. Old style bad for you creosote, tarmac on a hot day, rain and after hot weather.

Soubriquet · 11/10/2022 07:02

Petrol
Tar
Creostote
Permenant Marker

FindingMeno · 11/10/2022 07:04

Ferrets.
I love the musky smell.
Now that is weird, right?

Rocklobstershell · 11/10/2022 07:05

The plastic smell of blow up swim rings and inflatables (instantly reminds me of summer).

MummyDummyNow · 11/10/2022 07:06

Cow poo!

andynarwhal · 11/10/2022 07:08

FatherDickByrne · 11/10/2022 01:29

Locks and weirs. Mmm.

Weirs! Yes but only since I had covid, they smell sort of almost sweet and musky like an expensive perfume.

mogtheexcellent · 11/10/2022 07:08

Skin thats been in the sun. Reminds me of my mum. Its actually the smell of the skin burning. I used to sniff my arms a lot for comfort.

Still do and I'm in my 50s BlushConfused
