Bedtime perfume … it’s a thing right?

Chloefairydust · 23/09/2022 03:31

So in conversation with a friend I told her I was nearly out of bedtime perfume. And she looks at me like I have two heads 🤔

so basically I have an expensive perfume I wear in the day, and a cheaper Avon one to wear to bed. My reasoning is I like to smell good for my boyfriend when I get into bed, so I shower, apply my face creams, body lotion, and then a quick spritz of bedtime perfume. So tell me I’m not crazy here? Bedtime perfume is totally a thing right?

Note - this friend thinks bedtime perfume is crazy, but thinks it’s totally normal her dad has never seen her mum without a full face of makeup ( they have been married 30+ years and I’m convinced her mum is actually a stepford wife 🤣)

Never heard of anyone doing this ever and as other people have said, surely you smell nice after a shower anyway?

2bazookas · 23/09/2022 12:38

Nope.

IME most men prefer a woman to smell of herself in bed, and really dislike artificial perfumes.

fairtrauchled · 23/09/2022 13:07

Nope,never heard of that.

PearlWithTheGirlEarring · 23/09/2022 13:08

That would be headache inducing for me breathing that in all night in close proximity.

Do you also have a special separate sink for washing your face? (This is giving me the same vibes as that thread from last week 😝).

OMG I saw this thread. I actually almost posted on it but reading the comments, changed my mind😂

I actually like the idea of 2 sinks, but more of a his and hers sinks. When we went on holiday we had 2 sinks in our room and I loved bing my own sink, with all my lotions and potions on the shelf around it. BF gets toothpaste everywhere all over the sink and it drives me crazy, like having to clean it before I use it all the time, I tend to just wash my face in the shower because of this. However if we had a huge bathroom and enough space I would totally have his and hers sinks …

I use a sleep inducing fragrance roller ball on my wrists

EmmaH2022 · 23/09/2022 13:14

OP I have not heard of this
didn't see the sink thread
but if I was going to live with someone, there'd have to be separate bathrooms!

One of the ladies I used to care for when I first qualified as a nurse had a spray of perfume before bed because she used to say 'you'll never know who you'll meet in your dreams'.

Aww that's quite sweet!

This reads like one of those newspaper articles from the 1950s that tell you how to keep your husband happy!

ApplePears · 23/09/2022 13:30

Wierdly bf really likes the smell of tan, he seems to get turned on by it which I find kind of odd… maybe he has a biscuit fetish 🤣

I was literally eating a biscuit as I read this and nearly vommed in my mouth. 🤢

Carlycat · 23/09/2022 13:34

Not a thing. Smelling clean in bed is enough. Aren't you concerned about unnecessary chemicals on your skin?

HoneyIShrunkThePizza · 23/09/2022 13:38

I use a lush spritz or body spray...it's a thing for me

latetothefisting · 23/09/2022 13:51

Aren't the shampoo, conditioner, soap/body gel, face cream and body cream you've already put on enough for you to "smell nice" for your boyfriend?

And what efforts does he make to smell nice while sleeping for you?

Putting perfume on to go to bed sounds mad to me, having a specific perfume even more so, and have never heard of anyone doing either before now, but whatever floats your boat I guess!

jammywagonwheel · 23/09/2022 13:51

I wear perfume in bed .. even when alone. It's a small extravagance that makes me feel good. So yes it is a thing ...

I love lush products… never tried the body spritz tho, are they good?

As far as I know, you are the only person who buys cheap perfume they wouldn't wear out in the day to bed, so I don't think what you are doing is a thing.

mermaidtail · 23/09/2022 14:02

I don't have a perfume but I use lotion and body spray for when I'm fresh out the shower and putting on my pyjamas. Makes me feel fresher.

Whatsthestorymorningglory95 · 23/09/2022 14:03

I wouldn’t call it bedtime perfume no. But I do spritz myself with perfume before I go to bed. No idea why, just always done it.

jojogoesbust · 23/09/2022 10:19

The things you read on MN. Lost me at bedtime perfume, then the fact it's avon. The shower will do

Tell me you nothing about perfume without saying you know nothing about perfume.

Avon work with a lot of great noses and their perfume selection is excellent and very good value. Just ask @MissBattleaxe

BaileySharp · 23/09/2022 14:04

No I have never done this

Absolutely, I think the Avon range is great, it’s affordable and I think they design the fragrances to smell like the more expensive ones anyway. The one I’m using at the moment far away rebel smells just like alien. Only thing is they don’t seem to last as long but other than that they smell lovely, and make a good bedtime perfume.

MissBattleaxe · 23/09/2022 14:54

@JaninaDuszejko you are right. Avon perfumes are made by world class perfumers such as Olivier Cresp (Angel) Maurice Roucel ( Gucci Envy) and Alberto Morillas ( Marc Jacobs Daisy)

DoYouRememberDiedreBarlow · 23/09/2022 14:57

I'm going to try it tonight, DH will love the change from fart smells.

mondaytosunday · 23/09/2022 14:57

Isnt your body lotion scented?
But no, I don't know many people who where perfume during the day, certainly not at night!
