Bedtime perfume … it’s a thing right?

So in conversation with a friend I told her I was nearly out of bedtime perfume. And she looks at me like I have two heads 🤔

so basically I have an expensive perfume I wear in the day, and a cheaper Avon one to wear to bed. My reasoning is I like to smell good for my boyfriend when I get into bed, so I shower, apply my face creams, body lotion, and then a quick spritz of bedtime perfume. So tell me I’m not crazy here? Bedtime perfume is totally a thing right?

Note - this friend thinks bedtime perfume is crazy, but thinks it’s totally normal her dad has never seen her mum without a full face of makeup ( they have been married 30+ years and I’m convinced her mum is actually a stepford wife 🤣)

I do it when I fancy giving my husband a jolly good work out!

Do you live in a Famous Five book?

Do people really say things like "jolly good work out"?

AlwaysMunching · 23/09/2022 07:10

That was a very different version of the famous five 😄

MikeWozniaksMoustache · 23/09/2022 07:10

What a waste of perfume. Mines lucky if he doesn’t get Dutch Ovened tbh.

Noteverybodylives · 23/09/2022 07:11

I’ve never heard of it.

There’s nothing wrong with it but I feel a bit sorry for your boyfriend.

I would absolutely hate it and my male friends would too as they don’t like too much perfume. Having it in bed would be too much.

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 23/09/2022 07:17

That's nasty, because when you've just sprayed perfume on it's at its strongest and he's going to be right up close to you. I'm surprised he hasn't commented on how strong you smell but maybe he just puts up with it. Scented body lotion is more than enough to smell nice, perfume for bed is way overkill.

chesterlestreet · 23/09/2022 07:17

Chanel mademoiselle has a nighttime version which according to the sales person was lighter and for wearing in bed as opposed to nighttime = evening

mountainsunsets · 23/09/2022 07:22

Never heard of this 😬

I wouldn't want to go to bed with someone freshly covered in perfume or aftershave - I'm getting a headache just thinking about it.

Herejustforthisone · 23/09/2022 07:24

It’s not a thing. And I suspect it’s something only you and Joan Collins have in common.

Muststopeating · 23/09/2022 07:25

I'm going to take a massive punt and assume you don't have small children...

WildfellAnne · 23/09/2022 07:26

It’s not a thing - and it must be horrible for your boyfriend.

threegoodthings · 23/09/2022 07:29

Your poor boyfriend!

SpaceyCake · 23/09/2022 07:34

Not for me. Each to their own but I wouldn't want to smell chemicaly in bed, and if my partner did similar I would have to ask them to not do it because I would hate sleeping next to someone who smells strongly of perfume/aftershave.

CoalCraft · 23/09/2022 07:34

Damn OP with all those lotions, creams and perfumes your bed sheets must smell like a Boots store.

HRTQueen · 23/09/2022 07:36

when first with someone I have used the perfumed body creams after having a shower

but once I have passed trying to convince them I’m the perfect woman I no longer bother with perfumed body cream

but can’t remember spraying perfume just before bed and never had a bedtime perfume

Angelinflipflops · 23/09/2022 07:37

Does your boyfriend make a similar effort before getting into bed? The only time I wear perfume or make up is if I'm going out

KentuckyDerbyandJoan · 23/09/2022 07:39

You are ‘crazy’ OP, HTH.

CheapFoodShits · 23/09/2022 07:42

I don't have a specific one for bedtime, but I always put perfume on after my bath of a night.

NashvilleQueen · 23/09/2022 07:01

Not only do I not do this but I actually hate the idea. Sensory overload at a time I want to relax. No thanks.

Same! I do have a lavender scented body lotion that's supposed to help you sleep so I use that sometimes and that's more than enough for me.
I'd be so annoyed at DP if he applied aftershave before coming to bed!

VictoriaSpongePlease · 23/09/2022 07:47

What does your boyfriend do for you before he gets into bed 🤣

Probably gives his musty balls a wipe around with a damp towel.

pastypirate · 23/09/2022 07:51

Love it. It's a thing. Also for me anything that masks any human smells at all is great

CongratulationsBeautiful · 23/09/2022 07:51

No, but then I never wear perfume anyway. I like nice products but perfume has always seemed so pointless to me and always has a horrible chemical undernote. Realise that I am odd though Blush

OnlyMeIJustChangedMyName · 23/09/2022 07:53

The media made a big fuss over marylin Monroe when she said she did this but I believe that when presented with the intrusive and ridiculous question, what do you wear to bed, she decided to give a ridiculous answer. The media hasn't changed.

Luxurysleuth007 · 23/09/2022 07:54

…A few drops of Chanel No.5 and nothing else…
