Bedtime perfume … it’s a thing right?

Chloefairydust · 23/09/2022 03:31

So in conversation with a friend I told her I was nearly out of bedtime perfume. And she looks at me like I have two heads 🤔

so basically I have an expensive perfume I wear in the day, and a cheaper Avon one to wear to bed. My reasoning is I like to smell good for my boyfriend when I get into bed, so I shower, apply my face creams, body lotion, and then a quick spritz of bedtime perfume. So tell me I’m not crazy here? Bedtime perfume is totally a thing right?

Note - this friend thinks bedtime perfume is crazy, but thinks it’s totally normal her dad has never seen her mum without a full face of makeup ( they have been married 30+ years and I’m convinced her mum is actually a stepford wife 🤣)

I love these threads as I’ve never heard of this before.

Oops sorry, I have just realised that I mistakenly told a lie, as for the last few months my nose has been feeling overly blocked up - so I often add a few dabs of
Eau de Vick under my nostrils before going to bed...

😂😂

Highlighta · 23/09/2022 08:30

I had a quick Google. It would appear it is a thing.

But this thread comes up fairly near the top of the search.

Have done since my teens so 40 odd years, whether anyone else will be there or not. No specific perfume, whatever I'm favouring, applied with a very, very light hand.

I don't see why some people seem to be so anti this, if you don't want to do it no one is being forced!

What does your boyfriend do for you before he gets into bed 🤣

oh wow, wasn’t expecting so many replies.

Half the time I have to remind bf to brush his teeth before bed like he’s a child lol 🙄 … Although if we are going to have sexy time then he normally does put a bit of aftershave on haha.

And I don’t use the expensive stuff for bed because bf doesn’t appear to know the difference anyway, he likes snuggling into my neck though and says I smell good so I assume he likes it?
And I also use a cheaper perfume as my bedtime perfume as it’s not too strong.

im surprised it’s not a thing though, I thought most women did this…

If it's something like lavender to help you relax/sleep that would make sense.

Perfume for the sake of it sounds too much imo.

😮😖

warmeduppizza · 23/09/2022 08:52

I have a bedtime perfume, but I only wear it for me. It helps me relax.

If you are with someone long term they should like and be turned on by the smell of your skin. Hiding it is a bit counterproductive.

Chloefairydust · 23/09/2022 08:55

We have been together 5 years

Never heard of it.

YellowTreeHouse · 23/09/2022 08:56

This is insane. Of course most post don’t do this. Where did you learn this from?

Dannexe · 23/09/2022 08:57

I have a perfume that I wear in bed sometimes. Someone else bought it for me and it’s very light and not what I would generally wear in the daytime. It sits on my bedside table and so I guess yes it’s my bedtime perfume. But once it’s used up I wouldn’t buy a perfume specifically for bedtime.

Calandor · 23/09/2022 08:58

If I wore perfume to bed my skin would become a giant sore rash so it's not a thing for me!

If you have a fabulous healthy skin barrier though go for it! And cherish your skin!

Floydthebarber · 23/09/2022 08:59

I seem to remember doing things like this once. After many years and two dc, the bedtime mystery has faded somewhat! I go to bed with minty fresh breath, that's good!

properdoughnut · 23/09/2022 09:00

It's a thing. I don't do it though.

ManateeFair · 23/09/2022 09:05

I don’t think a lot of people do it, but I put a really light, cooling unisex cologne on before I get into bed. It’s not for my boyfriend - he has no sense of smell so these things make no difference to him. I just like it - I find it relaxing and slightly luxurious, like a little treat.

During the day I always wear perfume. I have about 15 different ones.

I’m always hugely amused at how furious Mumsnet gets about perfume. I always wonder if the “perfume is lung-rotting poison and I need a week in a sanatorium to recover if someone walks past me wearing a spritz of Jo Malone” people are the same ones who think a midweek glass of wine makes you an alcoholic.

What’s a penis beaker??🤔

believe you have bedtime perfume but no penis beaker

scrufffy · 23/09/2022 09:07

Sexy time 🤮

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 23/09/2022 09:10

God no, I have enough to deal with. Sexy time? Sexy time? Oh please no!

Dreamingcats · 23/09/2022 09:11

I hate the smell of perfume so definitely not a thing here! Never heard of anyone wearing it to bed.

TheMoops · 23/09/2022 09:11

im surprised it’s not a thing though, I thought most women did this…

The women I know who do this ( and wear make up to bed) are in controlling relationships. Their husbands expect them to look sexy at all times.
