Bedtime perfume … it’s a thing right?

So in conversation with a friend I told her I was nearly out of bedtime perfume. And she looks at me like I have two heads 🤔

so basically I have an expensive perfume I wear in the day, and a cheaper Avon one to wear to bed. My reasoning is I like to smell good for my boyfriend when I get into bed, so I shower, apply my face creams, body lotion, and then a quick spritz of bedtime perfume. So tell me I’m not crazy here? Bedtime perfume is totally a thing right?

Note - this friend thinks bedtime perfume is crazy, but thinks it’s totally normal her dad has never seen her mum without a full face of makeup ( they have been married 30+ years and I’m convinced her mum is actually a stepford wife 🤣)

My 'bedtime' perfume is a lavender stress spray if that counts.

FiveLittleDucklings · 23/09/2022 10:28

Never heard of it. And tbh, I wouldn't want to share a bed with someone who uses perfume at bedtime. The strong scent will bother me.

Howabsolutelyfanfuckingtastic · 23/09/2022 10:31

Never heard of anyone wearing perfume to bed before but if you want to that's up to you. I think i smell nice enough at bedtime though 😁

witchesbubblebath · 23/09/2022 10:31

Nice idea, OP. I might actually do this occasionally

AnaglyptaBandersnatch · 23/09/2022 10:32

How very Marilyn of you OP! Flicks hair
I am now imagining you sweeping down the staircase in a voluminous maribou feathered gown and matching pumps, daintily draining your evening martini.

I sometimes spray a tiny amount of something into the air before bed, just to make the room smell nice! But that's just for me, not any one else.

It's a bluebell room spray, can't see it online at the moment.

luckylavender · 23/09/2022 10:48

Not a thing

MaryTruss · 23/09/2022 10:53

I don't like any chemical smells so it's a no here - i don't understand why you'd want to breath in chemicals instead of fresh air (also have to sleep with a window open)

MrsClatterbuck · 23/09/2022 10:54

Apparently when asked what she wore in bed Marliyn Monroe replied Chanel No 5.

Still not a thing

PeloFondo · 23/09/2022 11:05

I mean I don't always wear it deliberately for bed but I get out the shower and put perfume on, and as I shower in the evening then usually wearing it!

Explaintome · 23/09/2022 11:18

It seems madness to me, but surely if it's all about smelling nice for BF, you'd use the good stuff at bedtime?

MissBattleaxe · 23/09/2022 11:20

I sometimes like to wear perfume to bed. There's no right or wrong about it. Either you like to or you don't. Doesn't hurt anyone.

Chanel mademoiselle has a nighttime version which according to the sales person was lighter and for wearing in bed as opposed to nighttime = evening

That reminds me, I was given a bottle of Chanel hair perfume a few years back. I gave it to my sister.

Floweryflora · 23/09/2022 11:30

Not a thing.

PatientlyWaiting21 · 23/09/2022 11:36

If you could see my face…it’s not a thing!

Fancylike · 23/09/2022 11:55

Definitely a thing! I like to wear a soft, calming fragrance before hopping into bed to read, it’s part of my wind down routine and something nice I do for myself. I like lavender and vanilla notes in winter, something more aquatic for summer. And Guerlain La Lit year-round.

LadyEloise1 · 23/09/2022 09:12

@Chloefairydust what's the cheap perfume and what is the expensive daytime one ?
I like perfume. Though Pomegranates Noir and Angel make me heave.

I don’t have signature scents as such, I like to try different scents.

In the daytime at the moment I wear Jadore, before that it was Olympia.

At night time I generally have a cheaper scent that’s not as strong smelling. At the moment it’s Avon far away rebel , before that it was jasmine body shop one.

Totally not a thing.

Stompythedinosaur · 23/09/2022 12:01

Not a thing for me, but people are welcome to do slightly crazy things that make them happy.

I wouldn't want it to be a "thing" because I hate the idea of women internalising a sense of shame around their bodies and wish to disguise their looks and smell from even the people they are close to.

I have no shame at all about how I smell but I just love perfume. It changes my mood, I enjoy the scent and I like being able to smell different
Sometimes I don't wear any, sometimes layer lotion etc. It's a hobby I guess

ChristmasFluff · 23/09/2022 12:15

This is a 'thing' for me, but only since I've lived alone. I like to use a bodyspray (currently So.... Unique Peony Blush) before bed because I like the smell and I like that my sheets waft the pefume too.

newjobwhodisperhaps · 23/09/2022 12:19

Nah, never heard of it !

You surely smell nice enough if you've showered and put nice creams on?!

Also, I couldn't cope with perfume smells all night, would give me a headache!

This, I love how my bed sheets smell, I have a feather pillow, and I think the feathers absorb the smell too, I just love the smell of my pillow and bedsheets. Apart from fake tan nights, then my sheets just smell like biscuits haha.

Wierdly bf really likes the smell of tan, he seems to get turned on by it which I find kind of odd… maybe he has a biscuit fetish 🤣

Never heard of it. But they I don't wear perfume at any time.

hungoverAF · 23/09/2022 12:24

Sometimes I spray perfume before bed after a shower but not often and it's never a specific one, just whichever I fancy.
