Bedtime perfume … it’s a thing right?

Chloefairydust · 23/09/2022 03:31

So in conversation with a friend I told her I was nearly out of bedtime perfume. And she looks at me like I have two heads 🤔

so basically I have an expensive perfume I wear in the day, and a cheaper Avon one to wear to bed. My reasoning is I like to smell good for my boyfriend when I get into bed, so I shower, apply my face creams, body lotion, and then a quick spritz of bedtime perfume. So tell me I’m not crazy here? Bedtime perfume is totally a thing right?

Note - this friend thinks bedtime perfume is crazy, but thinks it’s totally normal her dad has never seen her mum without a full face of makeup ( they have been married 30+ years and I’m convinced her mum is actually a stepford wife 🤣)

Aiming for classics?

Penis beaker this is not

ThinkingForEveryone · 23/09/2022 06:01

Nope, not I thing I've heard of! Although if I did it the dogs would end up sneezing so I won't be starting anytime soon 😆

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 23/09/2022 06:14

Nothing wrong with that, I've got 'Putting Out the Bin' perfume. It smells a little like Dettol.

AlwaysMunching · 23/09/2022 06:24

Has to be a wind up?

Or is this yet another area of my life where I am deeply inadequate...

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/09/2022 06:27

I'm getting a migraine just reading this thread.

My thoughts exactly!

girlmom21 · 23/09/2022 06:31

It's not a thing. It'd just make DP sneeze and then I'd get annoyed Grin

JangolinaPitt · 23/09/2022 06:34

I do but just wear the same one -why would you want cheaper with your love than you wear to work?

I don't put perfume on before bed.

I do put deodorant on after my evening shower when I put my PJs on. I've been told that's weird and not good for my skin. Is it?

I do too. I'd be better off not showering if I didn't !!

@Chloefairydust occasionally I'll put my perfume on after my shower at night, but mostly out of post shower habit. I have NEVER, in my million years in this planet (well 53, feels like a million this morning!) heard if A bedtime perfume. Maybe it's a 'young persons 'thing' but certainly not my generation or older?!

plus, even after a shower, perfume lingers and the clash! No thanks. I smell lovely after a shower, no need for perfume. Nor would I want to sleep with someone who had freshly applied perfume, (aftershave - or whatever the yoof call it now.

Chickychoccyegg · 23/09/2022 06:41

Nothing nicer than clean, fresh soapy smells when in bed, I'd feel weird wearing perfume to bed, it wouldn't be for me.

SpringIntoChaos · 23/09/2022 06:42

You do you OP...but no, in general, it's not 'a thing' 🤣

lannistunut · 23/09/2022 06:46

I think it's really thoughtful of you to poison your DP's central nervous system every night. Perfume is <bleurgh> at any time, people who wear it are unaware how chemical-y and rank it smells.

Pickle1512 · 23/09/2022 06:50

Does your DH like this?

scrufffy · 23/09/2022 06:51

I have literally never heard of this

Pootle40 · 23/09/2022 06:52

Never heard of this

Everylittlethingsgonnabealright · 23/09/2022 06:58

Didn’t Marilyn Monroe famously go to bed (only) wearing Chanel No.5? But no, I’ve never heard of bedtime perfume!

Sometimes I put a spritz on for bed if I’m feeling a bit flat, just to cheer me up, but other than that just a pillow mist occasionally.

Darbs76 · 23/09/2022 06:59

No sorry never heard of it!

TartanGirl1 · 23/09/2022 07:00

WTF

Llamapalma · 23/09/2022 07:01

Will occasionally have a spritz if I'm getting ready for a particularly romantic bedtime.

Generally though, no, rather give our noses/lungs a rest.

We both work office jobs and often don't bath or shower before bed and DH still smells good to me. Can still smell his aftershave on his neck and deodorant in his armpits. I think he smells great at the end of the day and he often tells me I smell good when we're cuddling.

Would be a bit intense to have fresh perfume right against your face.

NashvilleQueen · 23/09/2022 07:01

Not only do I not do this but I actually hate the idea. Sensory overload at a time I want to relax. No thanks.

inappropriateraspberry · 23/09/2022 07:03

Not a thing! Surely if you've showered and have put on moisturiser etc, you'll smell nice anyway? Why do you need to add perfume, you must stink?! 😆

pollyglot · 23/09/2022 07:07

WTF? What's wrong with pheromones? Napoleon famously told Josephine not to bathe for his arrival home. Why put on deodorant when anticipating a little evening delight? I love the smell of DH's armpits, that wonderful, primitive, masculine, sexy scent. Shower after a hot and sweaty day, of course, but no no no to perfume. ((polly feels faint, fans self...oh oh oh...))

BecauseICan22 · 23/09/2022 07:07

I don't wear perfume to bed but I absolutely make sure I'm clean, moisturised and that I smell good. This is something I've always done, before I got married too.

I love to pamper myself a little before bed, it takes all of 5 minutes.

What I do wear is body lotion that comes with a perfume gift set. My 2 go to ones are Olympea and Jadore.

Do your thing OP, I'm sure your boyfriend appreciates it and notes that you smell good =)

JooliaJane · 23/09/2022 07:07

The Marketing Departments of the cosmetics companies just love people like you who not only buy these products but then tell a thousand other people who had never heard of the activity.
Mug!
Soap, water and clean nightie is all you need.

Survey99 · 23/09/2022 07:08

Not a thing, and feel a bit sad for any women feels the need to wear pefume every night when going to bed to "smell nice for their boyfriend", surely being clean is enough.
