How awful it must be for him to lose his mother and then immediately take on this role. He's had his whole life to prepare, but can a person ever really prepare for something like that?

@bellac11

I think your just looking for a bit of an argument here but I’m quite confident in my observations of Camilla over the years and you’re just going to have to go and look somewhere else for a bit of a bunfight. I can’t be bothered with you and this reply is the only one you’ll be getting.

Bunfight?

Its a discussion forum, you know, discussing things, ebb and flow of conversation and observations.

Obviously if you are 'confident' about everything you say and dont want other peoples observations to be discussed then why not set up a podcast rather than engage in a discussion forum

Camilla can appear unsettled and awkward, shy perhaps? But she signed up for this, so will have to get used to it.

I don't know her so I can't say I like her. All we see are carefully released publicity shots or clips of her guffawing and laughing like she would be great fun to have a G+T with.

She did behave badly during her affair with C3rd as did C3 himself and no excuses for either of them. They made PD's life an absolute misery.

I am saddened but not surprised to learn of HM's death, but I don't think there is one of them with absolute integrity, including Saint Anne!

Off with all their heads I say, and vive la guillotine and they can keep their cake while they are at it too.

He will always be Charles the Cheater as far as I am concerned and Camilla will always be the OW

Absolutely right.

Harrysmum61 · 09/09/2022 18:28

Cousin Greg, I agree with you 100 percent.

Harrysmum61 · 09/09/2022 18:31

Diana was used to produce the heir to the throne
then discarded when she had served her purpose.

She was not a stupid or naive woman. She grew up in aristocratic circles and knew exactly what she was wanted for. And was happy to do it for the privilege of being a Princess. I despise the whole ‘she was a lamb to the slaughter’ nonsense. Diana was clever and shrewd and courted the press when it suited her.

marktayloruk · 09/09/2022 18:33

Good luck to.him. May I point that he had one mistress while Diana had more than one lover?

So far so normal for a monarchy then.

You’d think the traditionalists would approve.

I thought Charles speech was great, he is a warm relatable man whose been over the coals, even now with Harry!.

He's a warm speaker who is passionate about thing's.

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 09/09/2022 18:49

The King’s speech was extremely moving. I cried when he talked about his dear mama.

I also love how they’re dealing with the sideshow that is Harry and Meghan with dignity, with the King mentioning his love for them. I hope they feel embarrassed for their spouting of total nonsense in recent weeks, telling porkies about SA and banging on about hoping to forgive the RF one day (for what?!). In retrospect seems really juvenile and embarrassing given this week’s events.

Blossomtoes · 09/09/2022 18:56

That speech was so well done. I have no idea how he held it together, particularly as he’s much more emotional than the Queen. The tributes to Mama and my darling wife were lovely. Our new king has got off to an excellent start.

Me too, but we have a heart.

Hear hear. He stepped up to the plate.

The King's speech (how odd it feels to write that) was perfect imo.

Early days but I think he'll do very well. I'm really looking forward to their coronations. I wonder if they'll be crowned at the same ceremony? Apparently George VI was crowned first then his wife was crowned in a shorter ceremony immediately after the Kings.

I've never seen footage of her crowning !

Jack80 · 09/09/2022 19:20

He will do great and I’m sure he will grieve in his own time away from the public if he can. It’s such a shame.

Emmac50 · 09/09/2022 19:26

I think Liz is in a good position because she’s been given a breather

Frazzledstar1 · 09/09/2022 19:45

He gave a great speech this evening, I was a bit skeptical yesterday, but now I think he could do very well as King. So weird to say we have a king now!

Kjpt140v · 09/09/2022 19:51

No different for him than any other person, other than he will have advisors looking after him.

If you go to 25:50 on this video you’ll see the crowning of Elizabeth

JustLyra · 09/09/2022 19:56

Edward VII and Alexandra, George V and Mary and George VI and Elizabeth were all crowned together so I expect Charles and Camilla to be crowned together as well.

YoniWheretheSunDontShine · 09/09/2022 20:14

How soon after the funeral is the king crowned?

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 09/09/2022 20:16

I have just seen some of the footage of the crows greeting Charles outside BP today. I thought he was so warm and natural and there was such a lovely bond with people and such goodwill. It was lovely to see.

Agreed. I have said for ages he will make an excellent king. I think him and Camilla are a wonderful couple and clearly deeply in love

Daffi · 09/09/2022 20:21

Yes it does.
