Sore throat, hacking cough, bit of a cold but not much, feeling wiped out but just not getting any better? I’m up all night coughing and can hardly swallow.

Continually testing negative for Covid via lateral flow and have taken a PCR?

DS has now gone down with it. Tested negative with a lateral flow yesterday but am booking him in for a PCR today.

My DD2.
The cough is truly awful.

challengerequired · 19/09/2021 08:55

Yes, my dd2 as well

challengerequired · 19/09/2021 08:55

Two negative pcrs

Shamsnahar · 19/09/2021 08:56

Yes it's going round my family and the whole school.

Toastandjam16 · 19/09/2021 08:57

Yes, DS has it. Can't be Covid as he's only just had that! Think the schools going back means lots of other nasties are circulating.

AlexaShutUp · 19/09/2021 08:57

Yes, one of my team had something like this. Repeatedly tested negative for covid.

Derrymum123 · 19/09/2021 08:58

Just had it. Could not believe pcr and lft were negative. Still lingering 2 weeks later. Was certain it was delta variant.

NormanStangerson · 19/09/2021 08:58

My entire family came down with a savage virus that gave us all mild colds but the WORST tonsillitis and cough. We were all floored. Temperatures, coughs, body aches, chills, you name it. We all had several assisted PCR tests by the doctor (which made me realise how un-thorough we all are when testing ourselves) and they were all consistently negative. I have no idea what it was but it was three-plus weeks of misery. The throat pain on its own had us climbing the walls.

Iimaginethiswillbefun · 19/09/2021 09:00

@NormanStangerson yep thats how I feel. Have gone through packets of paracetamol and it’s not even touching the sore throat and at night it’s so much worse. I’m hacking away and can barely swallow.

Me.
Repeated negative tests.
Have all the symptoms but I haven't lost smell or taste.
I've been isolating anyway (it's no inconvenience) because I have regular contact with some over 75's I don't want to pass it on.

mynameiscalypso · 19/09/2021 09:02

Yup, here too. DS and I both have it. I couldn't believe it wasn't Covid either as it's been going round his nursery but we've had repeated negative PCRs (as have a few other children at nursery) so it's clearly not Covid, just another bugger of a virus!

RunningStrong · 19/09/2021 09:03

Yes, completely wiped out for 2 full weeks but I am starting to feel better now.

StewPots · 19/09/2021 09:03

My DD currently has it I think. GP diagnosed tonsillitis and prescribed ABX as she had it before numerous times, but now it’s this horrible cough thing as well. She’s tested negative for covid, double jabbed. She feels horrendous.

NormanStangerson · 19/09/2021 09:04

Check your tonsils for pus and slough just in case you need a course of ABs, but if not, I recommend Difflam spray, alternated paracetamol and ibuprofen, ice cream and lots of fluids and rest. Ride it out. But the Difflam at least eased the throat pain. I love Tyrozets but I’ve just learnt they’ve been discontinued.

crazycatladyx · 19/09/2021 09:05

Yes! Me and kids have it.

All LFTs and PCRs are negative. I'm amazed it's not covid given how rampant it currently is in their school.

DH is starting to sneeze this morning, no doubt he'll have it worse than anyone Hmm

OublietteBravo · 19/09/2021 09:05

Yes. DD had it this week. She says she preferred covid!

middleager · 19/09/2021 09:06

My friend who also works in a school says there's lots of this at her school at the moment.

VainAbigail · 19/09/2021 09:06

My baby and I had it, then my husband. But our other children didn’t catch it. PCR tests negative too. 2 1/2 weeks later and it’s just about gone.

DeepaBeesKit · 19/09/2021 09:06

Lack of social contact means we have had less regular exposure to the many mild rhinoviruses, adenoviruses, coronaviruses etc out there so yep, we will probably feel hard hit by ordinary colds and flu this year.

Iimaginethiswillbefun · 19/09/2021 09:06

I don’t have tonsils! Am tonsil free since the age of 10.

Sorry but this made me laugh, it would be that same in my house! If I'm poorly DH ends up worse Hmm
EatYourVegetables · 19/09/2021 09:09

Yes, whole family. Negative multiple LFT, negative PCR. Fever, swollen glands, sore throat, runny nose, headache, pains and chills. It’s been a week. I took several days off work which I never do.

ANameChangeAgain · 19/09/2021 09:12

Everyone has had it in my home too. Its just the seasonal cold that does the circuit each year.

ImNotCrazyIWasTested · 19/09/2021 09:14

It's taking us down 1 at a time and to top it all off we all got food poisoning from McDonald's when I didn't have the energy to cook.

georgarina · 19/09/2021 09:15

Yep we all have it. Negative tests but fever, sore throat and a horrible hacking cough. Poor DS lay down on the baby's playmat yesterday and went to sleep :(
