Sore throat, hacking cough, bit of a cold but not much, feeling wiped out but just not getting any better? I’m up all night coughing and can hardly swallow.

Continually testing negative for Covid via lateral flow and have taken a PCR?

DS has now gone down with it. Tested negative with a lateral flow yesterday but am booking him in for a PCR today.

I’ve been sent that link this morning! I’m not in the least bit snotty though!

Me! I am SO unwell. More unwell than I remember being since I was a teenager. My toddler was also the sickest she’s ever been and now my newborn has it.
I have done multiple LFT and all are negative. Sent away a PCR , haven’t had it back but I am assuming it’s just some other virus. Have been guilty of forgetting other varieties are available Grin
Started as a razor blade throat, headache, muscle aches, bit snotty. Then came the cough which is absolutely BRUTAL. Very nauseated and dizzy , and now think it’s moved to a chest infection and sinus infection. Feel absolutely dreadful.

We had stomach flu then this. I think it's because we've not been mixing our immune systems are a bit weak because we've not been in contact with much. I've had it 4 weeks now and just starting to get through the night without waking in agony from my throat.

Cuddlyrottweiler · 23/09/2021 11:50

Funnily enough though. My 3mo DS didn't catch either, thankfully

ThesecondLEM · 23/09/2021 13:25

My Dd is so unwell just been prescribed antibiotics and had to repeat pcr. She's never been so ill

Brabraboo · 23/09/2021 13:35

Oh bugger. Just realised that in my unwell daze I’ve not registered my test online. Now I can’t get the Royal Mail barcode as I’ve posted it so il never get the results anyway.

I suppose it’s irrelevant whether it’s Covid or another viral but because I have a fever and cough the GP receptionist won’t entertain even letting me speak to a doctor to ask if I need antibiotics or anything until I confirm my PCR results. Which I now cannot do.
Not sure how they think I’m going to infect the doctor via the phone but never mind.

Yep my DD(17) has it. Hacking cough, sore throat, feeling sick. She's missed a full week of college after only being there 3 weeks. We are doing LFTs but all negative so far.

I think it was unavoidable after being set free after a year of mask wearing and not mixing.

FancyFlipFlops · 23/09/2021 13:57

Seems we’re not the only people dealing with this.

maddening · 23/09/2021 14:18

This makes me think back to the, not insignificant number of, people who had a virus pre covid and are " sure i had covid before the first person in wuhan had it" .

That's not how immune systems work.

My temperature is up again. It's over 2 weeks since this started for us. I have a cracking headache this morning too and a runny nose. I felt better on Thursday and Friday briefly. Back to feeling pants today. Ds is fine though now so at least he can go to school and allow me to rest during the day.

Leafblower14 · 26/09/2021 12:12

Yes , south east here, whole family apart from myself caught it, including our week old baby :(

Iimaginethiswillbefun · 26/09/2021 13:50

I cannot stop bastard coughing! I coughed all day yesterday whilst dropping dd at university lots of side eye from parents. I wore a mask to prove a point. It’s now been almost 3 weeks.

After 16 months not seeing anyone of his own age (CEV dad) thus no ailments at all, our youngest, due to start fresher’s week tomorrow, is full of snot, coughing and runny eyes.

Typical.

ProcrastinationIsMySuperPower · 26/09/2021 20:04

I've had this all week. Been off sick from work and in bed. Now DH and oldest DD have it too. Negative covid tests all round, I was convinced that's what it was (although DD has just had covid, which she caught at a bloody festival). I still feel so wiped out, basically been waiting to go back to bed since I got up this morning!

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 26/09/2021 20:59

I've got it too. Was sure it was covid. I even had a positive lateral flow test but the PCR came back negative. The sore throat was like nothing I've ever had before - and I had tonsillitis multiple times in my teens and had them removed in my 20s. I felt like I'd swallowed a razor blade. Hideous chills and zero energy or appetite. I've slept for 3 days and am finally starting to feel more human but my stomach muscles are aching from all the coughing! Just horrendous. If that's just a cold I really don't want to catch covid.
