Sore throat, hacking cough, bit of a cold but not much, feeling wiped out but just not getting any better? I’m up all night coughing and can hardly swallow.

Continually testing negative for Covid via lateral flow and have taken a PCR?

DS has now gone down with it. Tested negative with a lateral flow yesterday but am booking him in for a PCR today.

LifesNotDoneYet · 19/09/2021 09:16

Yep we've all got it and my extended family too. All negative PCRs.

I'm absolutely and utterly wiped and due to give birth to baby no3 any day now... Obviously it's worse for DH though Wink

Briony123 · 19/09/2021 09:17

It's a fluey cold but it's been so long since we had them that we've forgotten how rotten they are. I feel like death in the morning and evening. Isolating for ten days as my children have covid - they are on great form!

CyclingIsNotOuting · 19/09/2021 09:19

Yes! DC had negative PCR last week but everywhere I take him people stare when he coughs Blush
It’s definitely going around school because a few kids have been off for say 2 days and then back in again. Quite clearly coming back after negative tests.
I’ve had the breathlessness and flu type symptoms. Negative lateral flows. The dr said it was a viral infection of some sort. No antibiotics needed as not bacterial. Dr said it could hang around for weeks.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 19/09/2021 09:21

Yup, it's horrendous. I'm mostly over it by this point but it feels like I've had a headache and cough for two solid weeks. DS2 caught it from nusery and since it's the first cold he's ever caught thanks to lockdown and he's still snotty and coughing 3 weeks later.

I can't believe it isn't Covid, I've done LFT's and PCR's on us all and they're all negative. So glad we're vaccinated against that at least if this has hit us so hard.

ZZGirl · 19/09/2021 09:23

Yes, I'm not well but it's not covid.
Started as a sore throat, that took two days to pass, now I have a cold and a chesty/mucus cough coming. I work in a school.

Lelliebellieboo · 19/09/2021 09:23

Yup. Feels like a hard lump in your throat - I was physically sick every day for a week because I was coughing so much and it felt like I was being choked but had soooo many negative tests,

I spoke to the pharmacists and she said they were getting a lot of people saying the same symptoms. She told me to take benylin for the cough to break down the phlegm in the throat and to steam my face several times a day using vicks if I wanted to.

I put it down to being the first fine I was ill in over 20 months so no immunity in my body whatsoever,

TwoMuchTwoYoung · 19/09/2021 09:24

I keep wondering why the heck I’m so ill with a cold. The worst sore throat I’ve ever had, no hacking cough though, just streaming nose and constantly sneezing. Feel like shit.
Usually with a cold it’s a few days and I’m back to normal but this is lingering.

WhoKnew19 · 19/09/2021 09:24

Yep, DS and DD have had it here, negative lft and pcrs so definitely not covid. Half the kids in DS's class seem to have got covid, and the other half this fluey/coldy thing. And it's only September still!

TheQueef · 19/09/2021 09:31

I keep vomming due to the cough and my throat feels shredded.
Benylin and working from bed three days isn't shifting it at all.

I need a real good chicken soup making but my shin bones hurt too much Grin stuck in bed watching tales of the unexpected and swigging beny like tea.

TickandSired · 19/09/2021 09:34

Yes, DS has had it since last Saturday, negative PCR test, doc said viral upper respiratory infection. He was off school all of last week, still coughing but much better in himself.

Now I have it - started feeling unwell on Thursday, negative PCR and several negative LFT - work in a school and sitting here wondering if I should go in tomorrow or not! The cough and throat are horrible!!

CBroads · 19/09/2021 09:35

Norovirus is running rife roud our area at the minute. Had covid twice and it was like being at a holiday camp compared to the norovirus.

lancashirelady · 19/09/2021 09:36

Yep currently on day 5 of it. Completely wiped me out yesterday. This morning thought I was over the worst of it but since waking up have started to feel worse again. Really wish it would piss off now .

M4J4 · 19/09/2021 09:38

Not yet. Booked in for a flu jab next week though.

JaninesEyePatch · 19/09/2021 09:38

Yes ds has just got over this - grim!

VillanellesOrangeCoat · 19/09/2021 09:39

Yep here too. Classic Covid symptoms but negative. No appetite & didn’t eat for a week. Gutted I didn’t lose at least a stone - at least feeling so ill would’ve been worth it then Grin

Clocktopus · 19/09/2021 09:39

Running rife here too, it's basically Freshers Flu but for the whole country as we're all mixing more now and school is back in session.

Three DC have it and now DH is coming down with it. He has put on the Dressing Gown of Doom and the Questionable Jogging Bottoms of Sadness. As soon as he asks me to get him a box of Lemsips from the shop, that's when I'll know he's truly at deaths door and I'm going to be in for days of moping and moaning Hmm

I feel fine and so does eldest DC despite those four coughing and spluttering everywhere.

AngeloMysterioso · 19/09/2021 09:40

Not surprising… thanks to lockdown and all the other restrictions nobody has been picking up the usual little colds and stuff and everyone’s immune systems have got lazy and turned to crap.

steppemum · 19/09/2021 09:42

yes, we've all had it. Really rough. very nasty sore throat, nasty cough, feel crap, turns into a cold, very low energy, just curl up and sleep.

ds's turned into tonsilitis too.

all negative for Covid. (LFT and pcr) In fact ds had just had Covid and he said this was quite different (and for him much worse)

It was much worse than normal seasonal colds, and it is rare for us all to get something.

AnyFucker · 19/09/2021 09:43

Yes, I had this a few weeks ago

The cough, congested chest and feeling like death lasted about 3-4 weeks before it finally cleared.

PollyDarton1 · 19/09/2021 09:44

DS had something very similar last week - very high temp, couldn't swallow properly, shivers and chills. PCR negative. Still suffering from tiredness a week later. Apparently loads of the kids were off last week with similar things.

Stovetopespresso · 19/09/2021 09:45

yes DH normally so strong, week 3 of hacking cough, first week feeling proper rough. cough getting better only now. negative PCR. rest of the family much less affected...weird!

SantaMonicaPier · 19/09/2021 09:46

Going round my family, and school, too. I also wondered if it might be another a Covid variant the tests don't detect or just back to school colds.

LowlyTheWorm · 19/09/2021 09:47

Yup all floored here and kids been off school all week. Not covid and not normal cold either.

Iwab82 · 19/09/2021 09:51

Yes, son brought it back from Reading now other son and husband have it. I seem to have avoided it!! It's lasted ages as cough only just stopped for oldest son. All neg lft and pcrs.

CatFaceCats · 19/09/2021 09:51

Yip - I’ve got it too. But surprisingly the kids are absolutely fine 🙄 constant snot, sore throat and coughing so much I can make myself sick. I just feel rotten. Negative PCRs and LTFs here too.
