Sore throat, hacking cough, bit of a cold but not much, feeling wiped out but just not getting any better? I’m up all night coughing and can hardly swallow.

Continually testing negative for Covid via lateral flow and have taken a PCR?

DS has now gone down with it. Tested negative with a lateral flow yesterday but am booking him in for a PCR today.

Wizzbangfizz · 19/09/2021 11:30

Yes! All of us! Negative lateral flows all round but I'm staying away next week and I was convinced I had corona and couldn't risk infecting people so did a pcr - negative.

Talktalkchat · 19/09/2021 11:34

It is covid ffs. Same symptoms. This is what happens, the virus changes and the symptoms stay the same.

Covid is a respiratory illness. As is the common cold.

If you went to the doctors two years ago they would state no antibiotics and it’s a virus going around.

snackysnacksnack · 19/09/2021 11:36

Yep me and DS have got it. He's been tested (PCR) and I've had two PCRs and daily LFT and we're definitely negative.

Headache, snotty, awful cough, sore throat, etc. It's doing the rounds.

Katyy · 19/09/2021 11:40

Yeah here too.took PCR test as I thought this is how COVID would be ,no taste or smell either. Came back negative, feeling much better after 4 days.

EKGEMS · 19/09/2021 11:41

My DH-rarely sick but the man has been coughing, blowing his nose, fatigued, looking awful for almost a week. Had PCR test negative but he's used five boxes of tissue. Been to doctor advised just a cold. I knew how sick he is by him asking for orange juice-never drinks unless very ill. Slowly getting better. Had to stop him from cleaning up after dinner last night to rest.

LemonSwan · 19/09/2021 11:41

Ahh, now this is what my neighbour must have.

We honestly thought he had covid but were confused as he keeps going out.

You can hear whole family day and night as if they were sitting right next to you. Usually dont hear a peep out of them.

Toodlydoo · 19/09/2021 11:46

Was wondering whether it was rsv?

mrswenthworth · 19/09/2021 11:52

I had something at the end of august which seemed to tick every delta symptom box going except I only had mild loss of taste and smell.

Negative lft and didn't take a pcr as didn't fit the criteria but kept myself away from everyone.

Whatever it was it was shit. It wasn't overly cold like (cough mild, sore throat there but mild, runny nose but not blocked up). I felt like I'd been hit by a truck tbh. Took me 2 weeks to feel better.

GrannieD · 19/09/2021 11:57

On a plus side I have no appetite so eaten little food in 6 weeks and can’t face alcohol so the lbs are dropping off. Every cloud !

AnxiousAbi · 19/09/2021 11:59

Yes we’ve had it. And it has lasted ages. DD2 had to get antibiotics as hers progressed to tonsillitis.

thetaleunfolds · 19/09/2021 12:05

Yes my son and I have it. Bloody awful cough and absolutely exhausted. My DS3 took himself to bed at 6pm a couple of nights ago which, considering i usually Have to fight to get him to bed anytime before 8 must have meant he wasn’t well

BellsaRinging · 19/09/2021 12:13

I have this entering second week. So tired I took time off last week and am really annoyed with myself because I felt a bit better and went back; now I feel worse but if I take more time off it's a seperate absence. Urgh.
Any advice on how to kill it? Hacking cough is keeping me up all night and it's degenerated to a chest infection now. Would the GP be able to do anything? Or have you guys just ridden it out?

HairyFloppins · 19/09/2021 12:18

I think it’s what I’ve just had. Now dd has a fever now and a cough. Booked PCR for today. Dd had covid last year she is more ill this time.

Iimaginethiswillbefun · 19/09/2021 12:20

Doctor wouldn’t see me without a negative PCR test. Now I have one will call first thing tomorrow.

AnxiousAbi · 19/09/2021 12:21

If it’s a chest infection you would need antibiotics. We were very chesty and coughing up yucky stuff but it’s better now.

DH and DD found steaming with olbas oil eased symptoms a lot. It won’t take away the virus but it helped with the congestion. DH had a very sore nose and face because of the congestion but can’t take decongestion meds. It’s handy doing this before bed.

If it’s a tickly cough, we find having olbas oil on a cloth nearby when sleeping is helpful. It keeps your nose clear so reduces the tickle of mucous on the back of your throat. An open window also helps us.

SpringRainbow · 19/09/2021 12:30

This all sounds very similar to what we had in my household in July. It went through my whole family and we were all quite ill for the whole of July.

Every test we took (LFT and PCR) came back negative.

The kids are now perfectly fine (both were left with a nasty cough which felt like it took forever to go away), however my DH and I still don’t feel 100% but much better than we were.

Now they are back at school I am just waiting for one of them to wake up with another bug/ virus.

HesterAndPearlInBrightSunshine · 19/09/2021 13:58

Yes, me since yesterday morning! Bunged up, throat on fire, cough. LFT (×2) negative.

anappleadaykeeps · 19/09/2021 15:34

Yes, and it's horrid

EmergencyPoncho · 19/09/2021 15:37

My parents and both negative (and double jabbed).

EmergencyPoncho · 19/09/2021 15:38

I'm no scientist at all, but is there no chance this is another strain which isn't picked up by lateral flow tests?! I'm guessing not but just wonder.

AnxiousAbi · 19/09/2021 15:44

We had LFT and PCR’s and both were negative

JustABloodyMinute · 19/09/2021 15:52

We're the same, all negative PCRs and LFTs. Glad we're not alone!

TheQueef · 19/09/2021 15:58

It does sound like some sort of blip? Wonder if the testing rate goes up.

Yes - three out of four of us feel horrid - cold/flu symptoms. DD started feeling ill yesterday, DS taking a test as I type, and I'm taking one later.

I've spent several hours today on the M25 and started feeling rough on the journey. Headachey, tight chest and like I'm coming down with something.
