I really fucking hate Bluey

It's dreadful. Like a poor-man's Peppa Pig. The dad is a grumpy bastard. It's like he has a hangover or something. It is incredibly boring. Am very disappointed as I liked the idea of a female protaganist. I like that Bluey doesn't have eyelashes to show the audience she is female. But ugh. So dull. AIBU to ban it forever?

@Costumeidea

Watch Sleepytime then come back here and apologise OP!!

It’s a beautiful programme. There are morals and messages that aren’t shoved down your throat, no reinforcing of traditional gender roles, it’s hilarious and has spawned some fabulous catchphrases in our house.

Oh god I can't do it. I sob uncontrollably every time.
UnicornsandRainbows1 · 06/09/2021 19:06

For real life?

YABU 😁

Penistoe · 06/09/2021 19:42

Hey Duggy is great. It is genuinely funny. I have to resist the urge to sing a adult version of the stick song when my dh is getting changed. (I don’t resit at all) Grin

Costumeidea · 06/09/2021 21:13

@orangejuicer so does my 7 year old DD who doesn’t cry at anything. Full on, wracking sobs. I’ve had to ban her from watching it!

Jackthementalkitten · 06/09/2021 21:16

I’ve never actually heard of this. Peppa still gives me nightmares

Hag4life · 06/09/2021 21:21

I will watch sleepytime, I don't think I have seen that one!

Northpolesouthpole · 06/09/2021 21:30

I came on to tell you off for hating Bluewater (we call it "Bluey" here in Kent) because to me it is the most magical place on earth Grin but was disappointed to read you were referring to a kids TV show I'd never heard of!

livelyredjellybean · 06/09/2021 21:31

YabVVVu. That is all.

NorthernChinchilla · 06/09/2021 21:33

My 5 yr old DD calls EVERYONE 'mate' because of Bluey. V funny when directed at a family member, and half the time it makes her sound like she's offering someone outside after too many pints Grin

Coronado2 · 06/09/2021 21:34

Bluey is great! We all like it in our house. How anyone could prefer Peppa pig to bluey amazes me

bobblebeebob · 06/09/2021 21:39

Its really good. But starting to grate after seeing every episode 25 times

Oh no no no OP. You are way off! Bluey is amazing, Sleepytime is beautiful, my personal favourite episode is when cousin Muffin toddlerdog misses her nap and goes on a mad sleep deprived rampage. Hilarious, plenty of jokes for the parents

Doghairismyglitter · 06/09/2021 22:08

I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to report a thread so much Grin

YABVVVVVU. Even read “fucking” “hate” and “Bluey” in the same sentence hurts my soul.

It’s a genius show, hilarious, clever, imaginative, love that both main characters are girls, the little Jack Russell who obviously has ADHD, all the little clever quirks and sensitivity put into the episodes…..
it’s like a hug to the heart! And is the only children’s show that’s properly made me laugh out loud. The grannies on the bus had me in tears of laughter.

And yes… I realise I’m way to invested Confused

orangejuicer · 07/09/2021 07:49

Oh bless her. It's so lovely and well written.

HungryHippo11 · 07/09/2021 11:09

@WillaWeatherspoon

I love Bluey - the Dad is very similar to my DH with his silly games Grin. It's very relatable. Hey Duggee, Go Jetters and Octonauts are also excellent. That blasted pig is banned in our house because she's vile. And fat-shaming. And rude. And a bad friend.
Ditto all of this. Those are definitely the top 4 programmes in our house. Decent characters who are good role models, both male and female. Positive messages about friendship and teamwork and generally educational.
HungryHippo11 · 07/09/2021 11:21

The music is lovely too

rageagainstbing · 07/09/2021 11:35

Ah I love bluey. That and Kiri and Lou. I'd have them on all day.

Poor little bug on a wall, ching ching.
No one to love her at all ching ching sticks in my head for days after seeing it.

Peppa can honestly fuck off, happily my kids aren't so bothered by that anymore and prefer Ben and Holly which is far nicer to watch.

DollyDinkle · 07/09/2021 11:40

Bluey is a girl? Mind blown!

whereislittleroo · 07/09/2021 12:29

@thingymaboob

Are you joking? Bluey is in a different league to Peppa Pig. Peppa pig is a disgusting programme which promotes name calling and is just so incredibly boring and 2-dimensional. Its absolutely vile. It's like a cartoon version of the daily mail. Bluey is an incredible, imaginative and emotive cartoon. The use of classical music is wonderful and the themes are so thoughtful and well pitched to children.
Exactly this. They are incomparable. I can't stand Peppa pig. She's a brat, the Dad is useless and the show is boring. Bluey is thought provoking, funny and encourages fabulous imaginative play.
Hag4life · 08/09/2021 00:48

@AllyBama

I’d love an example of where blueys dad is miserable and hungover. Like… ever. This is the dad who shames us into being better parents with his otherworldly levels of role playing games. I know this is probably lighthearted (is it?!) but are you ok OP? 🤣
Haha yes absolutely light-hearted - my youngest was in the middle of a Bluey marathon and it was getting on my nerves 😂 I maintain that the dad isn't genuine though and seems a bit like he would rather be sleeping it off! I do love that she is a girl, her sibling is a girl, and that none of them have that mad "make up" the mummies in Peppa have (ie the eyelashes / eyeliner). The only boy cartoon character with eyelashes I can think of (and I have spent a lot of time thinking about this) is Spongebob.

Also, Bluey is very dull. Though I appreciate that I am not its target audience!

Dustyblue · 08/09/2021 05:51

OP and all who agree with her need to be put into DANCE MODE.

Bluey is genius. The Dad Baby ep, where Bandit has to 'give birth' to Bingo in a paddling pool with his neighbours help had me laughing so loud DH came in from the backyard to check on me.

Liverbird77 · 08/09/2021 05:53

If you've seen the episodes "Army", "Grandad", "Early Baby" and "Baby Race" and still hate it, yabvvu!!!

redandwhite1 · 08/09/2021 06:02

With you!!! Cant stand bluey!!!!
