I really fucking hate Bluey

It's dreadful. Like a poor-man's Peppa Pig. The dad is a grumpy bastard. It's like he has a hangover or something. It is incredibly boring. Am very disappointed as I liked the idea of a female protaganist. I like that Bluey doesn't have eyelashes to show the audience she is female. But ugh. So dull. AIBU to ban it forever?

@Dragonpox

I've only watched a few episodes but it seems too fast or something, fine for the adults but I'm not sure how much my 2yo was really taking in or understanding. He seems to prefer timmy the confused sheep.
Don't worry he will start watching it within a year...
riotlady · 06/09/2021 12:53

What are you on? The dad is great, he’s very caring and involved with his kids.

I actually teared up a bit at the episode where they go camping and Bluey meets her friend again years later

'Allo Bluey!
Aorh · 06/09/2021 12:59

You are clearly insane. One of the best kids shows ever.

Hag4life · 06/09/2021 13:02

Just to clarify, I am not a massive fan of Peppa (she is dreadful and spoilt, not a good role model, it is very sexist, all the families are 2 parent apart from the Sheep who assume are clones, like Dolly the Sheep LOLZ.... etc etc) BUT I was told Bluey was like a better version of PP and it isn't. It is just, bleugh. And the dad seems hungover and resentful. Hey Duggee is brilliant. And Numberblocks is great.

It was father's Day in Aus yesterday and DH got a bluey book and watched the latest episode with dd's.

Along with some other pressies of course ☺️

caoraich · 06/09/2021 13:05

I read an article that said Bluey is peppa pig with better parenting. Totally agree with that.

alexio · 06/09/2021 13:06

My son is fixed on cocomelon at the moment the characters are cute but 100% singing does my head in. Will need to try bluey
Peppa is banned in my house the little I've saw of it can't stand it

But it is essentially a better PP, just family shenanigans in a family of four...

It's got a different vibe but it fills the same purpose.

YY for bush wees and bum worms making it into the family lexicon! See also 'wackadoo' and 'shoobydooer'

ConsulTremas · 06/09/2021 13:16

Bluey is absolutely brilliant. I’d watch it even if I didn’t have a kid.

Natsku · 06/09/2021 13:19

YABU, Bluey is brilliant. I just wish my 3 year old would want to watch it more, sometimes its just me and my 10 year old watching. And I really wish the second series would make it to my country, our disney+ still only has the first series :(

Janaih · 06/09/2021 13:19

I thought I was the only one who couldn't stand this program! The kids are whiny manipulative little shits and the parents are bell ends.
I also strongly dislike the trend for knowing jokes aimed at adults in kids shows. Why can't they have something just for kids?

Peppaismyrolemodel · 06/09/2021 13:36

@SwanShaped

Bluey is a girl?? It’s a very boring show. Even the kids find it boring.
Grin I can’t help but feel these two sentiments are linked.. thoroughly justifying programs like Bluey.

It’s kids tv in the great tradition of 60s beeb- the program is meant to be a starting point for games and discussions and learning with parents and siblings after (@ “learn with mother”). And personally, I think it does this in a brilliantly modern way - whenever we go to the park there is always a group of kids playing ‘the floor is lava’ or something ..

firstimemamma · 06/09/2021 13:39

I don't like bluey much either but wouldn't say I hate it as such.

Haha couldn't disagree more with this. Kids entire childhood is filled with things "just for kids" these days, that the parents have to martyr themselves to putting up with. They are not hard pushed for something just for them, the odd joke for the parents doesn't hurt.

I'm not sure this is a new trend. Just watch Rainbow or The Magic Roundabout. At least the jokes nowadays are slightly less sexual or drugs based.
MolesandVoles · 06/09/2021 13:45

YANBU. I can't bear Aussie shows and Aussie accents.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 06/09/2021 13:45

YabsoooooooU. I love Bluey. I genuinely think I’m a better parent for watching it; I find the family very relatable.

Minor worry that DD will watch too much and start speaking with a rising inflection but that’s a risk I’m willing to take tbh.

bcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyza · 06/09/2021 13:45

Definitely bu bluey definitely tops peppa pig hands down.

Peppa is just annoying wee pig.

Bluey is brillant, my son loves it and laughs all the way through it.

Twizbe · 06/09/2021 13:45

We love Bluey in this house. My two are 4 and 2 and they've learnt so much from it. They often play baby showers now. That and insist on come here and go away at the park.

KatieKat88 · 06/09/2021 13:52

Literally never seen anything more unreasonable on here and that's saying something. Bluey has overtaken Duggee for me at the moment Shock
