To think DH is being ridiculous to not eat this?

Mushroom pie with instructions on packet to cook from chilled and to defrost in the refrigerator. I'm running out of time so defrosted on counter. He found packet and is now moaning and refusing to eat it because it might give him food poisoning. AIBU to think he is being absurd?

Agreed

fishonabicycle · 17/01/2021 15:02

He's being a twat

TheGoodEnoughWife · 17/01/2021 15:03

I almost always defrost on the side. Can't remember the last time I was sick. I'd eat it no probs!

Anothermother3 · 17/01/2021 15:05

Completely ridiculous. Unless you live somewhere ridiculously hot.

KirstenBlest · 17/01/2021 15:06

Don't you cook your pies from scratch?

Same4Walls · 17/01/2021 15:06

Unless there is a huge drip feed to say you are somewhere very very warm then of course he's being unreasonable. At this time of year my kitchen is probably just as cold if not colder than my fridge.

Longdistance · 17/01/2021 15:08

What a Wally 🙄

Oysterbabe · 17/01/2021 15:08

Yeah he's being a fanny. He can starve then can't he.

pepsicolagirl · 17/01/2021 15:09

I too would find and use any excuse not to have to eat a mushroom pie.

ChristmasJumpers · 17/01/2021 15:10

@kirstenblest does it sound like they cook their pies from scratch? What a ridiculous question...

WrinklesShminkles · 17/01/2021 15:11

I've defrosted on the side for years and never had a problem. This is the usual lowest common denominator advice aimed at clueless numpties who might otherwise try to defrost a pie by putting it on a radiator 🙄

ParlezVousWronglais · 17/01/2021 15:11

Delicious.

KatherineJaneway · 17/01/2021 15:12

He's being an arse. As long as it is properly cooked and hot all the way through, he'll be fine.

PhatPhanny · 17/01/2021 15:12

He just doesn't want it, and trying to find an excuse.

iklboo · 17/01/2021 15:12

Don't you cook your pies from scratch?

I hope you're being tongue in cheek.

FelicityPike · 17/01/2021 15:13

He’s an idiot and I wouldn’t be cooking him
anything else.

ApolloandDaphne · 17/01/2021 15:13

I once tried to defrost something in the fridge and it was still frozen when I wanted to cook it. I now defrost everything on the side. If it defrosts quickly I put it in the fridge until I need it.

HappyFlamingo · 17/01/2021 15:13

Yes he's being ridiculous

DramaAlpaca · 17/01/2021 15:14

Of course he's being ridiculous.

Or is he making excuses because he doesn't like mushroom pie? Wink

Rainb0wDrops · 17/01/2021 15:14

I always defrost things on the side. Even in the middle of summer I'll defrost for a couple of hours on the worktop and then move to the fridge.
Still here!

Summersun2020 · 17/01/2021 15:14

Yes, they home bake them, freeze them, wrap them in packaging on which they’re written their own storage and cooking instructions THEN they eat it.
Nob.

Summersun2020 · 17/01/2021 15:15

Same! Enjoy OP. More for you!

TammyHullfigure · 17/01/2021 15:16

He can cook something else for himself then.

Wiredforsound · 17/01/2021 15:16

Look on the bright side. More pie for you!

Holothane · 17/01/2021 15:17

I defrost everything on the side never been ill l yet.
