so...
I had received a text from my Doctors on Friday which I missed.
I'd spend the weekend thinking that either I was going to have to self-isolate or that my biopsy results were not clear after all...

Turns out they want me to pop in for my HRT review and a blood pressure check. The HRT is fabulous. The blood pressure is normal.

The only problem is that the receptionist and I didn't really want to get off the phone as we were enjoying our lovely normal chat. I told her to keep fighting the good fight.

That must be a relief justiceisblind, and you probably made the receptionists day with your nice normal chat.

My happy news is finishing work for Christmas this evening. I worked for the NHS the last 2 years and ended up working Christmas day for both of them as well as a load of other shifts. So, even though Christmas will be subdued and I'll miss seeing my family, I'm chuffed that I have a proper break and time with the kids.

My Christmas week shop has arrived and my fridge is FULL.

The kids have made cards for grandparents without fighting. They are lovely.

The cat brought me a Christmas present. (it was a dead blue tit but still, the gesture was there...)

ImnotCarolineHirons · 21/12/2020 12:52

My husband brought me breakfast in bed.
My teen just gave me a hug in the kitchen, unprompted.
My dog is lying with his head on my lap.
All good.
Glad you had good news OP.

Someone is finally arriving to try and fix the washing machine. I may not have to do clothes in the sinks and bath anymore!

sproutsnbacon · 21/12/2020 12:56

We’ve made salt dough, a few interesting ornaments and a nice hand print plaque of Ds 3 and dd 4 months. Got to bake it but if it fails we’ll just have another go.
The fridge is full and all Xmas shopping done.

The nurse who did my smear test this morning (which I had put off for 6 months) said she would treat me like one of her over 50s patients and use lots of lube because I was nervous.

Sorry it’s not a more tasteful example but it was the nicest thing anyone’s done for me in a while!

I’m meeting a friend for a walk later.
Put lights on my tiny living tree outside (from last year). It looks nice and cheerful.
Also looking forward to going out later to see Saturn and Jupiter!

BreakfastOfWaffles · 21/12/2020 12:59

My son has just made me lunch and it is edible!

idrawstrengthfromyou · 21/12/2020 13:00

Not today but I gave a good friend a present years and years ago (tree decoration) .

In my mind the sentiment was that someone had done this for me as a teenager - gave me an angel and told me that every Christmas I found it again I’d remember our friendship .

With this horrible year I’d totally forgotten about both the angel my friend gave me and the one I gave to the other friend !

This week I found the angel I was given whilst decorating the tree - and had a wee tear as I remembered my chum, who I’ve not talked to in years and years ... and then my other friend emailed me the next day with a photo of the angel I gave her - saying she’d also had a wee tear as it’s given her a good memory for a change ... just lovely and a nice cosy feeling !

My boss paid an unexpected christmas bonus in to my bank - not a big sum but I am so so grateful Smile

DS sat on my lap fir a lovely cuddle and asked to take a photo. Made me super emotional as expecting his first sibling any day now

Bluewavescrashing · 21/12/2020 13:02

We're going to see Santa today 🎅

I have a scan at the hospital in an hour and I've been trembling all morning. In fact had a first proper meltdown since March. But then my kitten came and gave me headbutts and purrs, she's currently snoring on my lap. And breathe.

Slankets · 21/12/2020 13:06

I'm eating bovril toast, reminds me of childhood Smile

The lady in costa gave my son a free drink ‘because it’s Christmas’ - he was overjoyed with his warm milk and sprinkles!

We had to handwash for 6 weeks during the first lockdown and it was awful so I feel for you and yay!!

It's the solstice today so days will be getting longer from now on.

And DH is going to make pizza this evening. Thin and crispy wholemeal base with loads of good toppings.

Aprilx · 21/12/2020 13:09

I ordered a couple of gifts which I should have been collecting in Next on Sunday. Then went into Tier 4 lockdown so have had to explain that gifts will be late, anyway they must have put the home collection items in the post because it has just arrived. 🙂

ThatBitch · 21/12/2020 13:11

My dd has made online game friends with one of my friends' dd who lives across the world. They have so much fun playing together and it's lovely to see that though things are different they are making friends and having fun.

Browniegal13 · 21/12/2020 13:11

I fell over outside Matalan and broke the plate I have just that second bought. I went back in to get another one and ended up with the same cashier. She gave me the plate for free as a gift from her. Made me cry x

Blibbyblobby · 21/12/2020 13:11

Someone I've not been in touch with for years commented on a Facebook status so I messaged to say how lovely it was to hear from her and we've had a good chat and agreed to meet up properly once the restrictions allow.

EverdeRose · 21/12/2020 13:12

I've had a lovely day so far, I got a very lovely delivery of flowers from a distant relative of DH's that I wrote a letter to with some photographs of DS.
DS has rolled over for the first time this morning and is now currently napping, while I have a hot cuppa and contemplate what takeaway we should order tonight.

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 21/12/2020 13:15

I’ve had an unexpected day off so I’ve iced the Christmas cake and about to wrap some presents. A nice chilled day which I needed
