any small lovely things happening to you today that won't annoy or distress others on the board?

so...
I had received a text from my Doctors on Friday which I missed.
I'd spend the weekend thinking that either I was going to have to self-isolate or that my biopsy results were not clear after all...

Turns out they want me to pop in for my HRT review and a blood pressure check. The HRT is fabulous. The blood pressure is normal.

The only problem is that the receptionist and I didn't really want to get off the phone as we were enjoying our lovely normal chat. I told her to keep fighting the good fight.

I hadn't seen my daughter since August (I am trying to be careful and avoid possible infection, she has work which exposes her to risk), and at lunchtime today she came by for half an hour of talking out on the pavement, just to see me before Christmas and leave me a present for the day itself.

Love that woman!

I got a Christmas Card from my veg box supplier, thanking their customers for their support through such a tough year, although actually it's been the other way around "from 855 tired but grateful co owners" (they have an employee share ownership scheme). I cried.

I also spoke to a doctor's receptionist who was really really kind.

RoseMartha · 21/12/2020 14:29

I got out the Christmas treats like the tub of chocolates etc. Because of all the bad news I decided we needed to start them now and also even though I dont buy loads we still seem to be eating them in Feb.

ErickBroch · 21/12/2020 14:30

My director said we could all finish at 4pm every day this week. Woop.

SquirrelFan · 21/12/2020 14:31

This is a wonderful thread, OP.
-My volatile teen is in a pretty good mood and actually helped me run an errand!
-I'm going to to a Zoom party tonight. Might get dressed up!
-managed to get a Sainsbury's slot for the 28th, when we'll just about need some more food.

Orangeblossom77777 · 21/12/2020 14:32

Nice thread. I started my fluoxetine again and the side effects are not too bad, and it is helping me with the news etc

Orangeblossom77777 · 21/12/2020 14:33

Teen DS has found some helpful revision stuff online. Because less outside stuff going on is having more time and space to revise for GCSE mocks after Christmas.

There's a really nice older couple who live 2 roads down from us and who always make a huge effort to decorate their house on Halloween. They excelled themselves this year and my kids loved it, as so little has been "normal". We don't know them and only ever really see them at Halloween. I keep meaning to give them a Christmas card to say thank you and this year I actually did it. This morning there was a knock on the door; not only had they brought us a card, but they also included the Lego cards from their shopping for the boys. The boys were delighted as they collect the cards and there were quite a few they didn't have. Also, they told us they were on the way to get their Christmas food shopping (having expected to be away for Christmas) as a neighbour had put them on their car insurance specially had. Might have had something in my eye as I closed the door.

Spacecudet · 21/12/2020 14:37

Our car passed it's MOT. We thought it also needed a new exhaust but actually just the silencer. Cost about a quarter or what we were expecting.

RhubarbBikini · 21/12/2020 14:41

This one isnt lovely as such, but has made me laugh due to the bloody ridiculousness of it all.

I ordered a desk weeks ago and sort of forgot about it, I assumed it had got caught up in freight backlog.

I was overjoyed this this morning when it arrived by courier (a complete surprise as no despatch email sent)

Only after the driver had left did I realise that I've been sent two sets of legs and a stranger called Sally in Warrington has been sent two desk tops.

I now have to keep Sally's legs safe over Christmas until the courier can come and collect them. (Not a sentence I thought I'd need to ever type)

DH and I have cleaned the house and he is currently hoovering whilst I eat mince pies and drink tea.
I work long hours and never feel as if I am on top of the housework so am enjoying the rare feeling.

My house is warm and cosy - I have a dog on my lap and a cat on my bed.

All my presents are wrapped and despatched.

I made a gift for a friend (not a Christmas gift) and she loved it.

bingowingsmcgee · 21/12/2020 14:47

I just ate a Toblerone and a crisp butty with loads of butter. It was a very joyful interlude.

peregrinedive · 21/12/2020 14:47

I've sung so many nursery rhymes with giggly DS(2) that I've given myself a sore throat and he's helped me feed his baby sister and carefully wiped her face with a muslin when she drooled without me prompting. I'm so proud of how well he's taken to being a big brother

DD's vile health problems, which she has battled resiliently for months, have finally been diagnosed via bloods this week as a severe allergy. It's going to be a bugger to address but it's not one of the sinister diagnoses we were fearing and she has a bucketful of steroids to tide her over Christmas. She's been assured she can drink SmileGin

A lovely employee has manned the trolleys for weeks at our local Waitrose. Despite arsey customers, the cold and rain she is always super cheerful and positive. She was telling a customer it was her 21st the following day. Other customers overheard and some of us bought her little gifts to give on our way out. The Manager also presented her with a cake and Prosecco in the foyer. Cheered a shitty day no end seeing her smile.

My Morrisons order arrived without any substitutions, yay, and extras. They duplicated milk order so I have 8 pints of milk instead of 4 free of charge!

fizznchips · 21/12/2020 14:50

What a lovely thread, full of positivity! Merry Christmas everyone 🎄

My little grandaughter emailed a video of her school nativity. Better view than when crammed onto benches in a school hall! Listening to her class belting out Away in a Manger at breakneck speed had me doubled up with laughter but also brought tears to my eyes.

5lilducks · 21/12/2020 14:55

Today I finally got the presents I ordered for my dd on 20th Nov. I have quarantined them atm so haven't opened them yet, I hope all the stuff I ordered is there!

Malacath · 21/12/2020 14:55

It's raining heavily and there's no shool run. I've been forced to stay inside to wait for repairs and deliveries, I've never been happier to have to stay inside Grin

Weedsnseeds1 · 21/12/2020 15:00

Well, not to me as such, but every parcel delivery is a moment of unadulterated joy for my cat Smile

Thurlow and SquirrelFan it's just got sorted!!!!GrinGrinGrin

A gift I'd bought online last and paid extra to be delivered next day hadn't arrived.
I checked the email and company had done it via Royal Mail not courier.

I emailed them and 1) they immediately the additional charge and 2) the parcel showed up today.

What a lovely thread. Just what we need.

I've had a days annual leave today to myself.

I've had a pamper day, painted my nails for the first time in forever it seems and am now wrapped up on the sofa with some Christmas crisps and Netflix

lyinginthegutterstaringatstars · 21/12/2020 15:18

My good news is that I had my 12 week scan today and baby is doing well.
