so...
I had received a text from my Doctors on Friday which I missed.
I'd spend the weekend thinking that either I was going to have to self-isolate or that my biopsy results were not clear after all...

Turns out they want me to pop in for my HRT review and a blood pressure check. The HRT is fabulous. The blood pressure is normal.

The only problem is that the receptionist and I didn't really want to get off the phone as we were enjoying our lovely normal chat. I told her to keep fighting the good fight.

DD is autistic. She loves baking and has recently become fascinated by a particular type of cake. She's researched it and learned various recipes. Today we were able to make one, together with her sibling. For DD it was a dream come true activity and it's things like this that balance out all the much tougher times Cake

My little boy lay on me unprompted and cuddled in, all be it only for a few short minutes but it was just that sigh of relief and comfort. I loved it 🙂 this thread made me smile!

sueelleker · 21/12/2020 17:23

@LadyJaye

Our cat woke me up at the very civilised hour of 8am this morning by purring in my face and giving me gentle 'head boinks', then came to join me in the living room as I had a coffee in the glow of the Christmas tree lights.

It was lovely.

I like sitting in the dark in the morning, with just the tree lights on.
GlitterBiscuits · 21/12/2020 17:25

The picture framer messaged to say my picture was ready! I wasn't expecting it to be done yet.

BeBraveAndBeKind · 21/12/2020 17:32

I now have to keep Sally's legs safe over Christmas until the courier can come and collect them. (Not a sentence I thought I'd need to ever type) Grin

I've spent a lovely couple of hours doing crafts with 17 yo DS (secretly delighted that he wanted to spend time doing it!)

Snugglepiggy · 21/12/2020 17:58

I feed the birds every morning as soon as it comes light.A robin is always the first to appear and gets ever closer. Today as I unlocked the door and got my bucket of bird seed he was right outside the door on the ledge waiting for me.And when I said hello hopped even closer.Made my day .

hellswelshy · 21/12/2020 18:01

I had a lovely package from my friend with Christmas treats in it, edible ones! I also had a few Christmas cards, which I am appreciating this year more than ever. The cat is on my lap snoozing Xmas Smile

Italiangranny · 21/12/2020 18:04

Bought horrible chews for my brothers dogs’ Christmas and had a lovely chat with the shopkeeper about pets and how we loved them. Lost my cat this summer so was a bit sniffly and he was so kind!

Then DP met me for a hug, a walk and bought me flowers, we ended up at the local deli where he chatted away in Italian with the staff, and we all sampled a little nougat square, raised our espresso cups and shouted Buon Natale to each other. Smiled all the way home.

SingingSands · 21/12/2020 18:17

We had super fast broadband installed today! And it works upstairs in our bedroom where before it was patchy. Success!

Chaby · 21/12/2020 18:20

Had my last radiotherapy session today, hopefully that’s the end of breast cancer, which has been the icing on the cake of 2020

lljkk · 21/12/2020 18:24

I had a lovely leg massage today :).

DS wants a customised little sewing kit for Christmas. Great stocking stuffer!

Wilkolampshade · 21/12/2020 18:25

I wrapped the girls stocking pressies using the chest of drawers upstairs in the bay window as a table. Doing this, I realised it was a lovely viewpoint to watch the street and exactly the right height for working at. I shall use it as my painting table after Xmas. This is good news as I currently have nowhere to paint. And it also means I am looking forward to the future.

myfatiguehastiredness · 21/12/2020 18:35

@Chaby, I went a bit nuts after my last radio session and went on a shopping spree. The feeling of yoohooo is just so tremendous. I'm three years on now - all good. Have a lovely Christmas.

My good news is the breeder has contacted me to say puppies have been born and sent us pics. We don't know which will be ours but we are very excited to know that she or he is now in the world.

That's lovely. I must make a note to do similar. It would brighten my mornings.

maddiemookins16mum · 21/12/2020 18:47

My Asda shop came 15 mins early.
NO substitutions AT ALL.
Our cat is eating again, had been unwell at the weekend and very lethargic.
I received a Christmas card from someone I’d not heard from in months.
DP is finished for the Christmas break.
All is good here and MIL (who moved in for the month so we can spend Christmas together - I love her) made Spaghetti Bolognese and Tiramisu for dinner tonight. We’re all going to watch a Christmas film soon and crack open the wafer thin mints.

Gingerkittykat · 21/12/2020 18:47

I had a blood test this morning and I had forgotten to get my flu jab. When I tried to make an appointment with an uncooperative receptionist the lovely diabetes nurse told me to come through and she gave me it. I've known her for years and we had a nice chat.

I went to Lidl at opening time this morning and bought myself a pretzel from the bakery.

Minibea · 21/12/2020 18:48

@PurplePansy05 - your post brought a tear to my eye, sending you all the positive vibes that this is your moment 🤞🏻

Our boiler has been fixed this afternoon by the wonderful British Gas men and the temperature is steadily rising up from 10degrees and is now hovering at just over 15 degrees. It’s not toasty yet, but after 48 hours with no heating at all, I’m savouring the feeling of a warm radiator. DDog is also pleased the underfloor heating is now operating in the kitchen and is finally settled 🙌🏻

My DD had also just given me the most gorgeous cuddle and planted an unprompted kiss for her baby brother on my bump 😍

delilahbucket · 21/12/2020 18:53

I saw my best friend today for the first time since September. Bit cold and wet, but still lovely.
I got a lovely message from a customer today telling me how thrilled she was with what I had made for her and she hoped I had the wonderful Christmas I deserved. Considering I'm fielding up to 20 messages a day from irate people blaming me for postal delays, it really was a delight.

HUCKMUCK · 21/12/2020 18:53

My Niece sent me an adorable video of my Great Niece who has just started crawling. At the end of the video she turns to the camera and does a big cheesy smile 😊. I’ve never met GN as she was born in May and they live far away. These videos make my heart hurt but also happy to see her growing big and healthy.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 21/12/2020 18:53

I've sat and watched Elf with my 4yr old whilst sniffing my 6 week olds head....and am now drinking wine. Xmas Smile

MummaBear4321 · 21/12/2020 19:07

My fridge is full of nice food, my wine cabinet is stocked, and after being peed on and cleaning up accidents for 2 days, my 2 year old peed and pooed in her potty today. Parenting win here 😂😂

thegreysheep · 21/12/2020 19:10

This thread shows how much small acts of kindness can impact people.
My two cats are snuggled on the sofa beside me, grooming each other and not fighting.
TV Christmas cooking shows are on and I've just had a nice baked ham and colcannon dinner. Washed down with tea and chocolate orange.
Fire on and Christmas tree lights going 🎄☕🐈

MummaBear4321 · 21/12/2020 19:11

Btw, this thread is one of the nicest things I have seen in a long time. Even in the midst of global misery, humans always find a way to see little bits of brightness.

onwheels · 21/12/2020 19:14

boiler stopped igniting 6 days ago - no heating and hot water.

Warranty still has two years left - technician came today and fixed it in under 10 minutes! Woooooo hooo! A wire had loosened.
