Pigs in blankets AIBU to think they are overrated?

I just don't get all of the fuss and hype over a greasy little sausage wrapped in a scrappy bit of bacon! I would much rather have an extra turkey on my plate instead. None of my family like them either, are we unusual or are there others out there who agree?

Good sausages from the butcher and lovely smoked streaky bacon. Or maybe panchetta. Divine.

We make a pile of them to eat on Christmas eve instead of Christmas day so we get more!

YABU. Turkey is a poor alternative to chicken, if it was any good we'd eat it all the time. Pigs in blankets are the BEST part of Christmas dinner.

My dc have never forgiven me for Christmas 2008. They remind me every year that I destroyed their childhood. My crime? Burning the pigs in blankets. They would say YABU.

When I was growing up we had chipolata sausages and bacon wrapped stuffing balls.

I agree. They are gross... salty greasy and too, well, porky! I'm not British so pigs in blankets were new to me... I've choked down a couple to be polite but I leave them to the side nowadays.

I am equally befuddled by bread sauce and that weird white sauce that gets served in a bowl with Christmas pudding.

YABU - one of the best bits of Christmas dinner IMO (and my DC and DH would agree). at the idea of you having a whole extra turkey on your plate instead!

Good lord OP are you mad? Not just for suggesting that pigs in blankets aren’t the pinnacle of cuisine but that TURKEY is better!!
Turkey is the weak link in the Christmas plate and pig in blankets are the best bit.
I think you need to have a long hard look at yourself. This is madness! MADNESS I TELL YOU!

Bread sauce is also awesome.

YABU - they are simply the best part of a Christmas dinner and we eat as many as we physically can around Christmas time, one of our freezers has a lot in there.

We put honey and whole grain mustard on ours. Good quality meat too. It's delicious

And extra turkey instead...the turkey is the worst bit.

Your first mistake would be using a greasy little sausage & scrappy bacon. By butcher makes lovely juicy little sausages & brown sugar bacon. I always make extra to snack on.
