To ask something you’d love that you can’t ever have

Is there anything in this world you would love to do or have that just isn’t an achievable goal? You know when people say you can achieve anything if you set your mind to it? Well, the thing you can’t have either way.

Mine would be to adopt a child. I have all the love in my heart to give to adoptive children, I know I could love them just as my own and deal with the challenges unconditionally. Unfortunately I have a mental health diagnosis, two previous (malicious) reports to Social Services and a DP who doesn’t feel the same on the subject. I do have biological children but I will always dream of adopting.

Is there anything for you?

To be an accomplished violinist and play in an orchestra.

andawaywego · 14/12/2020 22:06

My own home. Every year it gets less and less likely we'll be able to save a deposit, plus I'm self-employed out of necessity, so the odds of getting a mortgage are pretty low anyway. I'd love to be able to decorate and do DIY and make fun bedrooms for the kids.

Also, my career as a ballerina is getting less likely as I hit my late 30s.

I'd like to be able to ceilidh dance again. Unfortunately my joints say No. I'm only 37 and it really sucks that my body won't let me be my age.

Swingometer · 14/12/2020 22:11

I know it's a superficial thing compared to yours OP but I would love a head full of thick glossy hair

TheClitterati · 14/12/2020 22:11

To play the guitar beautifully.

I have no musical ability at all.

LisaLee333 · 14/12/2020 22:12

I would love to be To be 5" taller. I am only 5 ft 3. Would love to be tall, and willowy. The added bonus is that I would carry weight better. I can't be more than 10 stone without looking chubby. (Currently 10 and a half stone.) Sad

Oh and I would also love to time travel. 🕰️

And visit Planet Mars. 👽

RedPandaFluff · 14/12/2020 22:12

I'd love to go back in time and tell the selfish little madam I was in my twenties and early thirties to grow up and get my act together . . .

Whatisthisfuckery · 14/12/2020 22:12

Eyes that work.

I would love my dog back.

dontlikebeards · 14/12/2020 22:14

To be able to sing.

Unsure33 · 14/12/2020 22:14

A house with a paddock and goats and miniature ponies .

SadSecretSanta · 14/12/2020 22:14

@andawaywego the same for us. We’d love our own home, and not to be lining someone else’s pocket every month. We’d love the security, and to not have to worry about when we have to move next. We’ve saved and saved for a few years now, but it’s really unreachable for us.

gottakeeponmovin · 14/12/2020 22:15

To turn the clock back 20 years and appreciate being young

bitheby · 14/12/2020 22:15

I want two children. I'm TTC and running out of time so might not even have one.

WhatKatyDidNxt · 14/12/2020 22:16

A baby. Tried for 2.5 years and nothing. IVF didn’t even work

nosswith · 14/12/2020 22:16

Mine along with many others would be to see Mr Johnson and his government in prison for a very long time.

PomBearWithoutHerOFRS · 14/12/2020 22:16

To have a beautiful gown, and be slim and mobile, and dance a Viennese waltz with a gorgeous talk dark stranger, at 4a.m. in a ballroom lit by candles and chandeliers....
(I may put too much thought into this, it's one of my favourite daydreams and the man looks suspiciously like Sam Elliot )

It's not superficial at all and really affected me. So much do that I got a "white womans weave" at Hairsolved (other salons available I'm sure).
JacktomyDaniel · 14/12/2020 22:18

To be skinny and love my body. I hate myself.

thefirstmrsrochester · 14/12/2020 22:18

To have my darling auntie back. Fuck covid. I’d love to be able to sing, tone deaf, I even cringe at myself when I sing along to the radio in the car when I’m by myself.

Chimeraforce · 14/12/2020 22:18

To not have Aspergers.

GlowingOrb · 14/12/2020 22:18

I’d like to finish my PhD. The barriers are many starting with not living near a university, not wanting to quit my job, having a non-neurotypical child, and most importantly, loving my current job and having no intention of changing it once I finished my degree. All that time and money would be purely for self-fulfillment.
