To ask something you’d love that you can’t ever have

Is there anything in this world you would love to do or have that just isn’t an achievable goal? You know when people say you can achieve anything if you set your mind to it? Well, the thing you can’t have either way.

Mine would be to adopt a child. I have all the love in my heart to give to adoptive children, I know I could love them just as my own and deal with the challenges unconditionally. Unfortunately I have a mental health diagnosis, two previous (malicious) reports to Social Services and a DP who doesn’t feel the same on the subject. I do have biological children but I will always dream of adopting.

Is there anything for you?

To not have chronic illness. And to have my Grandads back.

IdblowJonSnow · 14/12/2020 22:38

To own a mansion.
To go out with Kit Harrington Xmas Blush
I'd also love to write material such as Fleabag. Genius woman.

TheChosenTwo · 14/12/2020 22:39

Some of these are so sad.
Mine are all totally superficial and I’m not sharing them but I’m sending lots of you nice thoughts and a hug. Flowers

SomelikeitHoth · 14/12/2020 22:40

Raising an adopted child is gruelling.

JennyMcLenny · 14/12/2020 22:41

To live on a smallholding and be self sufficient.

amatsip · 14/12/2020 22:42

To have told my children’s father, who passed away 2 weeks ago, how I really felt about him. I never fell out of love with him just couldn’t raise our children around his addictions.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 14/12/2020 22:42

To have my beautiful, kind and funny DH back. Even for one day. We had this question in a work social the other week and I didn't say this because I didn't want to be pitied. What I actually said was Colin Firth.

Just a quiet head

Loving family

Run a marathon but my arthritic knees won’t let me. I’m only 46 and need a knee replacement.

AllTheThingsHeSaid · 14/12/2020 22:44

I'd love to learn how to measure my worth in ways other than the opinion of men. I know it's bollocks but I still do it. My happiness depends on the whims of unworthy arseholes.

todayIdrankmilk · 14/12/2020 22:44

@eeek88

an EU passport
I feel privileged to have this and to have given it to my dc, born in the UK ♥️ 🇪🇺

To be thin.
Not to be single.
Somehow these 2 are connected in my mind.

IamAporcupine · 14/12/2020 22:47

To feel I am good at something

DontStopThinkingAboutTomorrow · 14/12/2020 22:49

Two parents who love me and didn't/don't try to abuse and use me.
I have one, so I suppose I'm luckier than most. Would have been nice to experience a "real" family, though.

More superficially, I would have loved to be musical. I've tried several instruments and singing lessons, but I just don't have the right ear for it.

FastFood · 14/12/2020 22:49

I'd love to speak russian. I can read it (I mean, just the alphabet) but I'd love to speak it for real.

I'd love to be very handy and to do a lot of DIY. My dream is to have a flat to renovate entirely from scratch, with bespoke furnitures, like on Never Too Small youtube channel when they touch a door and a bathroom appears.
I just bought a drill so let's say that it's a work in progress.

littlepinkwinky · 14/12/2020 22:49

Eyebrows.I would really love some eyebrows.

naturalyoghurtmuncher · 14/12/2020 22:49

I have a dd who is sn, as much as I love her, I do often wonder what life would be like if she didn't have a disability.

IamAporcupine · 14/12/2020 22:51

@Pikachubaby

Be able to sing without accidentally changing hey/going off-key/making people wince

Learn to dance the tango properly (I have been in BA, and seen people learn, but as 6ft heffalump Wink it ain’t ever gonna happen)

I am sure you can! I am from BA, I started learning how to dance quite late though, and, wait for it... in the UK! Confused
Letsrunabath · 14/12/2020 22:51

To make all the women in the world support each other. It’s my new mission, I can’t believe mid 50s I’ve still got friends who fat shame others for being slightly overweight.

cushioncovers · 14/12/2020 22:52

To be migraine free.
