To want to put Hermes out of business

To want something done about the utter uselessness of Hermes.

I don't know a single person with anything good to say about Hermes (deliveries not bags obvs!) and I seem to spend so much time sorting out stuff they have messed up. Why are we putting up with it?

Our local guy refuses to deliver to us. He took a dislike to dh who asked him (politely) not to park over our drive as he couldn't get in one day and it's a bendy country road. Driver could have parked either side or gone into our drive. It's painful, especially this year when everything is online.

I've tried ordering to work - a school - and have still had a message at 11am to say no-one's in. Of course they are, it's a SCHOOL!! Come on people, what can we do??

My Hermes guy is fantastic!

Daphnise · 11/12/2020 19:57

It may be a little rough an ready- and I would rather have a Royal Mail delivery, but Hermes is OK.

nitgel · 11/12/2020 19:57

Mine is good too

iHaveACold · 11/12/2020 19:58

I've never had a problem with them. They're great in my area.

SebastianTheCrab · 11/12/2020 19:58

Have you read the other thread running about how badly Hermes drivers treated and how little they're paid?

I actually have noticed an improvement in their service over the last few years.

mynameiscalypso · 11/12/2020 19:58

I would much rather have one of the courier companies (DPD is the best here) than Royal Mail.

Bellybootcut · 11/12/2020 19:59

They are good around here. They have a blimmin difficult job. And I bet he was only parked across your drive for a couple of minutes!

Kanaloa · 11/12/2020 19:59

If it helps, Hermes have drop off points. There is often nobody at home in the day at my house so I order it to my local corner shop and then they email you a barcode and you can go and collect it. It’s really saved me this year as I hate waiting for parcels or missing them.

Changi · 11/12/2020 19:59

Hermes is OK for us. DHL seem incapable of delivering (or attempting to deliver) to the correct address.

wasgoingmadinthecountry · 11/12/2020 20:00

Maybe it's our area then - we are very very rural so I appreciate they earn less money from us. Hermes are at fault obviously not the drivers (except ours!)

Mine is terrible...often marks things as delivered when they haven't been (they generally turn up several hours after they are shown as "delivered"), things sit in their depot for days before they try and deliver. My heart sinks whenever I'm told my parcel has been dispatched via them.

Changi · 11/12/2020 20:00

Not DHL, DPD. They are hopeless.

FootprintsInTheDew · 11/12/2020 20:00

Will OP, I'm here to say that our Hermes delivery driver is lovely, cheerful and VERY reliable.

CoolCatTaco · 11/12/2020 20:01

My Hermes woman is great. I've never once had an issue!

wasgoingmadinthecountry · 11/12/2020 20:01

And we don't have a corner shop. Or a delivery shop within 10 miles. Which is why we ask people to deliver.

I think it depends on who your local delivery person is. Ours is absolutely fab. She is reliable, learns the 'quirks' of every household and offers her number to the village so people can call her to ask about their deliveries.

She's an absolute star.

wasgoingmadinthecountry · 11/12/2020 20:02

It's obviously very much down to the driver then. How many of you are very rural?

lancashirelady · 11/12/2020 20:02

I live in a rural area and our Hermes delivery guy is fantastic.

DartmoorDoughnut · 11/12/2020 20:02

Our local Hermes guy is brilliant, when we’ve lived elsewhere they’ve been horrendous

lalaloopyhead · 11/12/2020 20:02

We used to have a fantastic Hermes lady..she selfishly had a baby though and now we have someone not so great....the worst thing is the customer services if anything goes wrong...parcel got delivered to address down the road and not my address...all I got was replies to my emails saying delivery confirmed and nothing more they could do even though GPs showed different address and not mine .. fortunately I found place it was delivered to and got my parcel, not thanks for Hermes though!

dannydyerismydad · 11/12/2020 20:02

Our Hermes man is awesome. Yodel though...

felttree · 11/12/2020 20:02

That gutting moment when you order something online then get an email afterwards saying Hermes will be delivering Angry

If I know they are delivering prior I won't order from that place.

rottiemum88 · 11/12/2020 20:03

Hermes are at fault obviously not the drivers

You say that, yet your bad experience with Hermes is purely because of your local courier. What is it you have against Hermes as a company? FWIW, our local service from Hermes is far better than any of the other courier companies and RM.

notapizzaeater · 11/12/2020 20:03

I'm semi rural and our driver is fab 😀

FootprintsInTheDew · 11/12/2020 20:04

We're rural. Our driver is still lovely Grin
