To want to put Hermes out of business

To want something done about the utter uselessness of Hermes.

I don't know a single person with anything good to say about Hermes (deliveries not bags obvs!) and I seem to spend so much time sorting out stuff they have messed up. Why are we putting up with it?

Our local guy refuses to deliver to us. He took a dislike to dh who asked him (politely) not to park over our drive as he couldn't get in one day and it's a bendy country road. Driver could have parked either side or gone into our drive. It's painful, especially this year when everything is online.

I've tried ordering to work - a school - and have still had a message at 11am to say no-one's in. Of course they are, it's a SCHOOL!! Come on people, what can we do??

to let him know. He's the boss.

I have no problem with Royal Mail or the Hermes couriers themselves. Hermes as a company, however, is a different story. Why, why, why do they blatantly lie and say 'sorry we tried to collect your parcel but you weren't in'. I WAS IN AND HAD A BLOODY GREAT BIG SIGN ON MY FRONT DOOR SAYING TO KNOCK LOUDLY - I AM IN. It's so inconvenient and annoying. I'd rather they just said 'sorry we didn't have time to collect your parcel and will try again tomorrow'. They make out that you are an idiot by lying to you.

I think they're trying to pit themselves out of business aren't they Grin I've had to report 5 parcels missing this season.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 15/12/2020 09:48

Oooh that’s great. I will contact him. I ❤️ my courier!

I have a couple of regular folk and I'm very happy with them.

Only issue I've had is where they were to do a collection and I noticed a note through the door saying I wasn't in. At that point I'd not left the house for about 5 days and DS was also in. Turns out he knocked which we didn't hear but he hadn't thought to ring the doorbell.. He came back the next day and picked up with no prompting though so all was well.

I hate them. Awful every time. I currently have two missing parcels, both Christmas presents, both from different places - 'delayed' with Hermes with no update and no way of contacting them.. the number just keeps giving me the engaged sound..
I'm the same as PP - my heart sinks when I know it's being delivered with them - no idea how they're still in business!

Although my Hermes delivery lady is fantastic, I work next to one of their distribution centers and if you could see how they treated their parcels you'd never want to use them again.

Utter shite and universally known as Herpes around here.

I am about to send a parcel (£8 as opposed to £20+ with RM) I am a bit worried after reading about how to pack your parcel in case it falls six foot off the conveyor belt advice.

They're fine in my area, where my daughter lives less so, she's on the second floor of a block, he leaned on the bell for about 15 seconds, when she got down there he was back in his van and about to drive off.

I hear you, but Royal Mail posties do the same. I've had numerous little red "while you were out" cards pushed through the door when I've been in the house. Once I was in the hall and saw the red card pop through the door, I nipped out and caught the postie on the drive - he didn't even have the parcel with him - he said he just "assumed" I wouldn't be in.

It's not the firm, poor service is down to the delivery person, some are good, some are bad.

Heartlantern2 · 15/12/2020 20:11

Hermes in general is rubbish but my courier is awesome and a nice person to boot and I wouldn’t wish him out of a job

goopsoup · 15/12/2020 20:24

Another one who loves her Hermes driver. He’s polite and friendly.

Starburst8 · 15/12/2020 21:15

I think it depends on the area and the drivers. The Hermes driver was fantastic where I previously lived. The one I have now is useless just because he can't be assed to go round back. Saying that though Royal mail are the same, even when "safe place" is selected. It's so frustrating, but do not even get me started on Yodel. They are the worse but at least you can actually chat to a human on their helpline.
