To want to put Hermes out of business

wasgoingmadinthecountry · 11/12/2020 19:55

To want something done about the utter uselessness of Hermes.

I don't know a single person with anything good to say about Hermes (deliveries not bags obvs!) and I seem to spend so much time sorting out stuff they have messed up. Why are we putting up with it?

Our local guy refuses to deliver to us. He took a dislike to dh who asked him (politely) not to park over our drive as he couldn't get in one day and it's a bendy country road. Driver could have parked either side or gone into our drive. It's painful, especially this year when everything is online.

I've tried ordering to work - a school - and have still had a message at 11am to say no-one's in. Of course they are, it's a SCHOOL!! Come on people, what can we do??

Nope, our Hermes lady is absolutely sound.

Goes above and beyond.

StopMakingATitOfUrselfNPissOff · 11/12/2020 20:20

Another vote for Hermes. We don’t have a regular delivery person but they always arrive

Badbadbunny · 11/12/2020 20:24

All delivery firms have occasional bad drivers - we've had no end of trouble with Royal Mail, which is down to a couple of crap posties and a stroppy "manager" at the local depot.

FatherTedsBankAccount · 11/12/2020 20:24

Where I live, Royal Mail is easily the worst. Hermes, DHL, Yodel etc all pretty equally shit. DPD is flawless.

It really does depend where you live.

Petitmum · 11/12/2020 20:25

My Hermes man is amazing!!!

TheWichitaWineOne · 11/12/2020 20:26

Our Hermes chap is brilliant - I'm giving him a Christmas tip this year for doing a really good job.

liveitwell · 11/12/2020 20:26

It looks like your husband hit the hand that feeds him.

VinylDetective · 11/12/2020 20:27

Our Hermes guy - Pete - is brilliant. I won’t have a word said against him.

ShatInTheHat · 11/12/2020 20:27

Ours is fantastic, goes above and beyond I would say, our postman is lovely too.

LindaEllen · 11/12/2020 20:28

We have two Hermes drives, a man and a woman, and they are both lovely. They take care of our packages, give you plenty of time to get to the door, always have time for a bit of a chat (we have parcels most days for our business so plenty of time to build up a rapport!) and in return we take in parcels for the rest of the street if they need us to.

You can't just say that a whole company of drivers are bad, because that's not true.

SummerBaby2020 · 11/12/2020 20:28

My Hermes delivery guys of which there is 2 are amazing in fact they have delivered that much to me over lockdown I have bought them a bottle each for Xmas! They always ask after my DD, ask how I’m feeling that day since they have been delivering to me when I was 6 months pregnant how has the little one sleeping any better yet and how’s my partner I really can’t thank them enough and also I’m not rural......live right next to one of the main Scottish airports. I understand your frustrated OP but don’t tar them all with the same brush.

oneglassandpuzzled · 11/12/2020 20:29

My Hermes guy is good.

2bazookas · 11/12/2020 20:29

We have great service from Hermes and no problems

Whatup · 11/12/2020 20:29

Never had a problem with them. I had an issue with something he came back and delivered it promptly the next day.

Clariana · 11/12/2020 20:30

I hate our local driver. We live very rurally and the roads are only one car wide. I was riding my horse and he, instead of waiting one minute whilst I trotted to a safe place, squeezed past me and clipped by stirrup with his van mirror. Fortunately my horse is really safe, but if it had been a young horse he could have seriously injured us both. The delivery driver is an absolute wanker.

Travis1 · 11/12/2020 20:31

I’ve generally had no issue with Hermes. My company use them and we’ve sent out up to about 1k packages a day with them of late and the complaints/lost items have been a pretty minimal percentage. Our margins allow for a 5% loss/damage rate and we’re nowhere near that 🤷🏻‍♀️

SamMil · 11/12/2020 20:31

We are rural too and also have problems with Hermes!

I think they get paid so little per parcel that it doesn't work out in their favour to deliver to the rural areas, which is stupid. They should be paid appropriately for the distance!

For us, we've waited weeks for parcels to be delivered, they're usually battered & ripped. And our drivers seem to be in dispute as to who is meant to do our round as it is between two areas so it changes between different drivers depending on who complains the most.

They are quite vocal about the fact that they don't want to deliver to us, which makes it a little awkward! We actively try to avoid companies that use Hermes but it's not always possible to find out in advance, unfortunately.

Londonmummy66 · 11/12/2020 20:32

I have far more problems with Hermes deliveries than any other firm. The number of times I am sitting working right next to the front door and an email pops up to say sorry that you are out - no I'm not I'm here and have been all day. I now have a standard paragraph to paste into a reply email to say that the courier is lying it happens so often. All the bleeding hearts saying how little they are paid - if they are not doing their job and lying about it then surely they shouldn't be paid at all? I wouldn't be paid for non performance.

Luckyrabbitfoot · 11/12/2020 20:32

They have just left my parcel with a neighbour when I specified that I didn’t want it leaving with a neighbour. Argh! Too bloody late to go around now too

Thisisnotreallymyname · 11/12/2020 20:33

I have sent loads of parcels with Hermes over the years. I have never had a problem with them delivering anything I have ordered. Maybe I’m lucky but speak as you find.

RubyFakeLips · 11/12/2020 20:33

Our Hermes lady is lovely, had the same one for maybe 10 years, or at least it seems that way. She says she loves working for them as it’s fits around the children.

Very reliable and lovely to deal with. I get the impression the depots are pretty hectic though.

We’re in London burbs.

Lovemusic33 · 11/12/2020 20:33

My Hermes lady and man are great, never have any issues. Have had a few weird ones with Amazon deliveries (yodel) where they have left parcels in my bin or chucked them over the fence.

HaggieMaggie · 11/12/2020 20:33

I’ll say something good! MyHermes is delivered by a husband and wife duo who know every house, their safe places, stop for a quick chat, update their tracking correctly and are an absolute shining star of amazement.

The single guy before them was also a peach too with the same level of service.

Now Yodel......

Annie2746 · 11/12/2020 20:33

They aren’t all that bad. The local driver around here does a fabulous job! Never had any problems!

Itllbeaninterestingchristmas · 11/12/2020 20:33

Very rural and our myhermes guy is great. I always try and make his life easier by leaving the parcels to collect in the porch and he just puts ones he’s delivering in the porch and knocks to let us know. We’re fine with him parking on the drive as well for a few minutes. He works extremely hard
