To want to put Hermes out of business

To want something done about the utter uselessness of Hermes.

I don't know a single person with anything good to say about Hermes (deliveries not bags obvs!) and I seem to spend so much time sorting out stuff they have messed up. Why are we putting up with it?

Our local guy refuses to deliver to us. He took a dislike to dh who asked him (politely) not to park over our drive as he couldn't get in one day and it's a bendy country road. Driver could have parked either side or gone into our drive. It's painful, especially this year when everything is online.

I've tried ordering to work - a school - and have still had a message at 11am to say no-one's in. Of course they are, it's a SCHOOL!! Come on people, what can we do??

I adore my myhermes driver. Great sense of humor, great attitude. Also saved me a couple hundred quid and hours of work last Xmas. He brought me a parcel and told me that he doesn't trust it because it was ripped open and sellotaped back together with the company name on, so asked me to open it. I did and several items were missing and he took it from me and told me that he'd return it as "refused parcel" so I didn't have to prove any items were missing. I got my full refund from the company the next day.

He's an absolute legend

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 12/12/2020 17:31

A friend's road banded together to send emails after their Hermes delivery man put all the parcels in the recycling bins that were out on the kerb, waiting for the bin men to come... No cards through the doors either. I think five households lost parcels that way.

They've been ok here, although one driver thinks that sticking it in the hedge counts as a "safe place". I wouldn't mind, but my neighbours are all wfh and we happily take parcels for one another.

mrsbyers · 12/12/2020 17:59

I’ve never had any issues with them at all

Mariebarrone · 12/12/2020 19:25

Our Hermes delivery guy is very good.

Aurorie11 · 12/12/2020 19:30

My Hermes guy is fab, hoping to have another delivery before Christmas so I can give him a box of chocs

Sugarhouse · 12/12/2020 19:46

My Hermes guy is great never had a problem. i don’t think Hermes is the problem it’s just your local driver.can you email Hermes to complain ?

Sugarhouse · 12/12/2020 19:47

Royal Mail however iv been waiting for plants for a week they are going to be bloody dead

Sunbird24 · 12/12/2020 21:34

Turns out the reason Hermes appear to have been processing my parcel for the better part of a week is because they sent it to the Newmarket centre instead of the Swindon one, so it had to go back to the hub before they could correct their mistake.

TheGreatWave · 12/12/2020 21:39

My local Hermes woman is great, I think the other local one isn't as good going on local FB reports.

jinglebills · 12/12/2020 22:13

I don't like our current guy and he seems to do DPD and Hermes at the same time. And it looks liked he spilt his lunch on my parcel today, but he does the job he is a very unlikeable arse. Last two Hermes people were lovely, chatty.

jinglebills · 12/12/2020 22:14

I'm also sending Hermes for my eBay as it's tracked so cheaper than Royal Mail.

NellePorter · 12/12/2020 22:59

Our Hermes guy is excellent, he's like a family friend. The most accommodating, helpful person. Never had an issue with a delivery (and I do a lot of online shopping Blush)

midnightstar66 · 13/12/2020 04:32

Both Hermes and yodel - blank delivery photos, no address on left with neighbour slips no specific delivery time. DPD give hour time slots and provide real time tracking, you can see where they are and that they are on drop 52 and you are 81 . Deliveroo manage to show real time tracking with people on a bicycle so why can't these huge delivery companies manage this.

SoupDragon · 13/12/2020 09:29

DPD is my preferred delivery option because their tracking is so good. Amazon sometimes has real-time tracking but not often.

They've changed the picture of the van on their tracking app to a sleigh which made me smile.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 13/12/2020 09:33

Hermes are my favourite delivery company, our delivery guy is excellent so YABVU

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 13/12/2020 09:35

I love my Hermes guy. I’m going to buy him some Xmas beer. He’s amazing.

kittenpeak · 13/12/2020 09:39

@wasgoingmadinthecountry I work for a big retailer. Hermes are cheap. I think the cheapest delivery company out there (don't quote me on that). You get what you pay for. Research shows customers will not pay more for delivery , so retailers will not change provider.

(This of course depends what you're buying - if you're ordering something worth £1000s I'm sure the customer would be happy to pay more for delivery, but the average online shopper say they want better delivery service, but are unlikely to pay for it)

peboh · 13/12/2020 09:50

A parcel due to be delivered by Hermes got delivered to a house about 20 minutes away from me. I hate Hermes. I will no longer shop at businesses that use them as their courier.

Kijaji · 13/12/2020 10:15

I've had a nightmare with Hermes the past few weeks, I've had every order that is being delivered with them lost at the depot they've not even reached my courier!! Absolutely shocking for this time of year!

TheGreatWave · 13/12/2020 10:42

At the moment I am trying to sort out the second parcel RM has lost, I would rather they had sent it by Hermes.

MinistryOfTragic · 13/12/2020 10:49

My Hermes courier is also great, reliable and friendly and always helpful.

bestofme21 · 15/12/2020 00:14

So the saga of the delayed parcel continues.

Got a text from Hermes to say they are delivering my parcel on Sunday ... woohoo .... happy days 🎉🎉🎉🎉

DH accepts delivery of the parcel. I take one look at it and think that's odd doesn't look like the right size.

FFS Hermes have delivered a parcel from a different company for someone that lives the other side of the country. There are two address labels on the parcel. Actually it looks like Hermes have picked a parcel, thought that will do and stuck their own label with my address on it.

I have now had to log a missing parcel report with my supplier and contact this other company to get them to get Hermes to collect this rogue parcel.

I'm still out of pocket for £70 and I just want my order 😡😫😡😫😡😫

Torvean32 · 15/12/2020 04:59

I normally love Royal Mail, but I've been waiting 8 days for mail that was sent first class.
Im gutted as one parcel had a personalised item i had done for my nephew's first Christmas. I've not been able to meet him due to Covid so it was really special to order this.
The ppl who sent it is all blaise saying oh there's delays dont panic. Royal mail ( who apparently were delivering on Sunday) don't give a crap. I'm away first thing Thursday. I'm so disappointed. It's not the same if i send it after Christmas.

Graciebobcat · 15/12/2020 05:08

Hermes are brilliant, local courier does a great job. All non-RM deliveries from online shops have been on time.

Royal Mail are extremely hit and miss. Sent Christmas cards 2nd class (65p) they got there in three days. Great. Sent an old passport 1st class to passport agency, recorded delivery (£2.08) - took a week to arrive. I've had a new passport in that time in the past. Good job I'm just renewing it because it needs doing rather than needing it promptly.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 15/12/2020 08:33

I’ve tried to go on the Hermes website. To tell them how wonderful my courier is.

But as l don’t have a tracking number the bot kicked me off, and there is no other way of letting them know.
