Dh's dancing face...how to get over this?

When DH dances, he pulls this face which I find deeply unattractive.

There. I know you're all going to tell me I'm a cow...but the thing is, it's a face which is almost EXACTLY the same face an ex used to pull when HE danced!

It's so annoying and off-putting for that reason!

The ex was a complete dickhead so I have bad memories attached to it. DH doesn't look like the ex but there's a sort of passing resemblance and this face is SO similar to the one ex did that it's uncanny.

It's a sort of close mouthed smile with half shut eyes.

I HATE it.

He dances AT me with this face and I always shut him down which is awful of me...how can I get over the association? I really want to stop associating this with my ex...

Take up a different shared hobby.

ApolloandDaphne · 28/11/2020 10:15

How much dancing do you do with your DP that this is a huge issue? I think I last danced with my DH at a wedding 2 years ago!

SmileyClare · 28/11/2020 10:15

Just ask him to stop pulling a funny face when he dances. He probably thinks he looks deeply sexy.

I can't say I've come across a fixed dancing face before. ConfusedAre we talking ballroom or just flinging about some drunken shapes?

AfterSchoolWorry · 28/11/2020 10:17

I really want to see the face! Ha, it sounds cringey.

FortunesFave · 28/11/2020 10:18

Apollo he'll just come up and dance with me messing about. It's not like we're in the disco nightly.

Tell him.

jetadore · 28/11/2020 10:18

Have you told him? Surely he can wear a different expression when dancing at you in future? If he's struggling get him to listen to "Seen and not Seen" (Talking Heads).

FortunesFave · 28/11/2020 10:19

AfterSchool I bet you're sitting there trying it out aren't you? Grin

Agree, tell him!
It's cute he dances up to you though.
Since lockdown, my DH is more likely to grimace at me and 'dance' away from me!
Careful what you wish for! Wink

TaraRhu · 28/11/2020 10:21

Lol my dh has one of these too. He does this 'dad dance' it's so embarrassing! We just laugh about it though. I can't dance at all so I've got some nerve criticising him tbh!

NeonIcedcoffee · 28/11/2020 10:23

Sorry I can't get my head around how much you're dancing that he has a face that bothers you so much.

Just tell him the face is creepy.

user17425642134531 · 28/11/2020 10:24

Proper dancing or just like random swaying?

madcatladyforever · 28/11/2020 10:25

We all need to see this face now.

CakeyCakeyCakeCake · 28/11/2020 10:25

It’s my like DH’s tooth brushing face I bet..

Bloodypunkrockers · 28/11/2020 10:26

Ex had one of those

Eyes half closed and biting bottom lip

So attractive

CovidStoleTheRainbow · 28/11/2020 10:27

How often does he dance at you?!

BloggersBlog · 28/11/2020 10:28

As they say in parking threads - diagram picture needed so we can all judge.

ATM my mind cant get a cat half going to sleep, with that silly smile they do out of it

Namerchanger42 · 28/11/2020 10:31

I can’t imagine this face at all, it does sound like it’s giving you the ‘ick’ though.....

user17425642134531 · 28/11/2020 10:33

Part of me is now concerned about whether I have some embarrassing "dancing face", but fortunately my dancing is so bad that it should distract anyone from noticing what my face is doing.

What's your dancing face like, op? Maybe if you danced back at him then his dancing inclinations would naturally reduce? And/or you would be distracted from his dancing face?

FortunesFave · 28/11/2020 10:33

Why are you all so interested in how often we're dancing??

OP posts:
SmileyClare · 28/11/2020 10:35

It sounds like my husband's sex face which I don't mind.

Cheryl Cole has this face on when she dances. It's a sort of super serious/ I'm about to come expression.

Is this him OP?

TellingBone · 28/11/2020 10:40

What about when he does Agadoo? Same expression? Birdie song?

Macncheeseballs · 28/11/2020 10:40

I totally get it, my dh does a similar thing that I hate when we dance, which to be fair ain't that often

Crustmasiscoming · 28/11/2020 10:42

Do people have a "dancing face"?

I didn't know this. I am keen to know what mine looks like... off to dance infront of a mirror.
