It drives me nuts.

Totally selfish.

Mumsnet 2003 and I claim my £5.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 27/11/2020 20:52

Do you know what really grinds my gears? People parking in the marked ATM space to go and do their big food shop.

BettysSpaghetti · 27/11/2020 20:54

I get more pissed of with the twats that park in disabled spaces when they don’t need to

ghostyslovesheets · 27/11/2020 20:55

Oh this had come around agsin

Tiredmumno1 · 27/11/2020 20:55

Yup, people in the disabled spaces without a blue badge.

LoveMyKidsAndCats · 27/11/2020 20:57

Agree with the above.

Tiredmumno1 · 27/11/2020 20:57

@ghostyslovesheets must have been at least a week 😁

CupcakesK · 27/11/2020 20:59

I’d much rather the baby/child parking was at the back of the car park. I need the extra space to get the baby/buggy/miscellaneous in and out of the car, but I don’t mind then walking further to the shop as that isn’t the difficult bit! Hopefully that way selfish people would avoid parking there 🤷‍♀️

HeidiHoNeighbour · 27/11/2020 21:00

Couldn’t give a shit about parent and child bays especially when they park in the disabled bays (without a badge) saying “we both get designated parking, you must learn to share”

Having children is fundamentally selfish, so the spaces will be occupied by selfish people either way.

Agree with PP. Put the parent and child spaces on the far side of the car park and make them double wide. It will give parents more space and stop other people using them. The extra distance walked to the shop is negligible compared to the distance walked up and down the supermarket aisles.

You might not feel like that when your baby is a toddler. I have a 3yo and 2yo. Trying to push a trolly and avoid them being run over is not fun
Bettyboop82 · 27/11/2020 21:03

It also pissed me off. Seems to happen at Tesco more than other shops in my experience. Usually selfish lazy pricks on their own.

GrumpyHoonMain · 27/11/2020 21:03

First priority for parent and child bays goes to disabled people with a blue badge, then it’s disabled people without a blue badge, then it’s parents with babies / toddlers etc etc. That’s why supermarkets often do nothing when you complain.

TrainspottingWelsh · 27/11/2020 21:04

How do you know they don't have dc? If dc are secondary age, at university, independent adults etc they are unlikely to accompany the parent to a supermarket.

I agree with others about putting them further away, just wider. If I’m in a foul mood and catch someone clearly able-bodied and child free coming back to one I say a jolly “Oh dear, you seem to have forgotten your child in the shop! How silly of you!”

How do you push a trolley and walk a 2yr old and a 3yr old round the supermarket anyway?

Youngest in the trolly and 3 yo walking - try to pick up every bloody item. Big tantrum when time to leave. Running whilst trying to strap youngest in the car

Oh and sports cars!

lyralalala · 27/11/2020 21:19

It would all be solved if they just made parking spaces a decent size, rather than cramming in as many as possible.

Ah, I haven't seen one of these for ages...its actually made me feel all nostalgic for pre Covid rants that don't require an in depth knowledge of epidemiology, herd immunity and the economy of Sweden.
