To be fed up of people without a baby/child parking in the baby/child bays

It drives me nuts.

Totally selfish.

Gancanny · 27/11/2020 22:51

You don't know what reason he had for parking there and not all disabilities qualify for a blue badge. Yes, he might have just been a selfish twat but the point is you don't know and you can't tell by looking, you have no access to his reasoning or thought process. Why expend pointless energy over it?

Nicknamegoeshere · 27/11/2020 22:54

@Gancanny I take my very young baby in her car seat which clips onto her travel system. She is too young yet for a pushchair and the infant seats of trolleys are not great from a hygiene pov, especially with Covid atm.
Why should I have to justify this because of the selfishness of others?

Ah, I haven't seen one of these for ages...its actually made me feel all nostalgic for pre Covid rants that don't require an in depth knowledge of epidemiology, herd immunity and the economy of Sweden.

Nicknamegoeshere · 27/11/2020 22:55

He could have parked in a disabled bay in that case?

OP posts:
Feministicon · 27/11/2020 23:00

Fucks sake OP, just park in any space and get on with it! Pull yourself together, you have a baby not a disability.

Nicknamegoeshere · 27/11/2020 23:02

@Feministicon Do you mind if I damage your car getting the car seat out?!! Grin

If there's more than one person it could be that one has a learning disability - in their wisdom the council hasn't renewed dps DD's blue badge so we park in the parent bays, she needs help swinging her legs in and out and can't do her own belt up. Door needs to be fully open because she's a full grown adult. Your average toddler is far more portable. They should relabel them as extra space bays, there's lots of people who don't get a blue badge but need more room including temporary disability like broken legs

Bogardicia · 27/11/2020 23:08

OP, as we can see there are just some inherently selfish people when it comes to this subject, and more than likely indicative of the way they live the rest of their lives, sadly for them. I’m also sure they would be the type, when confronted, wouldn’t refrain from anti social behaviour.

Having said that, I personally wouldn’t confront anyone in case they had a hidden disability. Although, as I’ve noted very recently Grin some people may even suddenly develop this when confronted.

Nicknamegoeshere · 27/11/2020 23:08

@ghostylovessheets

Even easier - excuse me passing human - can you hold this baby and seat while I back out?

Please tell me you are joking, right?!! Grin

@nanny2012nanny

I’m afraid I parked in mother and toddler bays when I broke my leg as wasn’t eligible for a blue badge and could just about walk around a supermarket. I didn’t have a cast as had my leg pinned and screwed back together and could weight bare so as an onlooker that not obviously in pain. I was shouted at many a time resulting in me pulling up my trousers to reveal horrific scars, stitches and bruising. Not everyone is a piss taker
I was in a similar situation. Amazing how fucking nasty people can be to you. I got the ex to park in the disabled bays because I was in a wheelchair and couldn't walk. I was still torn a new one because I didn't have a blue badge. I ignored anyone that had a go. I mean really? I couldn't fucking walk and got told off by people? Hilarious Grin

You shouldn’t have a licence if you can’t get out of your car without doing that.

Feministicon · 27/11/2020 23:12

Just get the fuck on with it, park your car properly, pick up your baby and transport them around in the manner that best suits you. You are able bodied and need to pull yourself together

Nicknamegoeshere · 27/11/2020 23:13

@Feministicon Baby car seats are not magically collapsible!

OP posts:
ghostyslovesheets · 27/11/2020 23:13

No - why?

Nicknamegoeshere · 27/11/2020 23:14

@Feministicon You're a delight!

OP posts:
ghostyslovesheets · 27/11/2020 23:14

Baby car seats can be left in cars without exploding though

Nicknamegoeshere · 27/11/2020 23:15

@ghostyslovesheets First off you would be handing over your baby to a complete stranger. And...err...secondly...Covid?!!

OP posts:
Nicknamegoeshere · 27/11/2020 23:16

@ghostyslovesheets My baby stays in her car seat. See previous post.

Bogardicia · 27/11/2020 23:16

OP, some posters clearly don’t understand logistics or have any spacial awareness or live somewhere that bigger than average parking spaces. You can’t argue with stup....

Nicknamegoeshere · 27/11/2020 23:17

@Bogardicia I agree.

OP posts:
Franticbutterfly · 27/11/2020 23:17

@Gancanny

Today I parked in a P&C space despite having no DC with me.

All of the disabled bays were full and I'd taken elderly relative with blue badge shopping

I do it all the time (not if spaces are limited though) because I have a lovely car and don't want my paint scratched...sorry, not sorry.
RayOfSunshine2013 · 27/11/2020 23:22

I park in them all the time. Because when you work hard all year and finally save up enough to buy a nice car, some inconsiderate arsehole scratches your car it’s pretty infuriating. So no, I won’t park in a space where some muppet could potentially bang my car at my expense.

Anyway, I’m a parent Grin

Ilovesugar · 27/11/2020 23:24

@Feministicon I will happily lend you my car seat, park up so everyone is well within there spaces and not at any funny angles. I would give you £50 if you can get that car seat out (without twisting it upside down). I’m quite sure you would fail. They are massive and stupidly designed probably getting bigger for safety etc

@ghostyslovesheets I left my car seat a lot in the car for that reason but I also know friends when baby woke every hour in the night, really colicky and just settled in the car seat...I wouldn’t take them out the car seat either and risk a crying baby all round the shop to an already tired and on the brink of a break down parent.

Not every situation is black and white?

Rosebel · 27/11/2020 23:36

It pisses me off too but you can't say anything because they might be disabled (but probably aren't).
I prefer Morrisons which has an age suggestion so people are less likely to take the piss.
What annoys me more is if you happen to gently touch the car next to your (because there are no p&c spaces) and you get a mouthful of abuse. Used to upset me now I just tell them to talk to the selfish people who have used the p&c when they don't need to.

Out of interest what do you do when you go to the many places without p&c spaces?
