It drives me nuts.

Totally selfish.

OP posts:
vodkaredbullgirl · 27/11/2020 21:20

Drive me nuts too, do away with them.

Gancanny · 27/11/2020 21:20

Today I parked in a P&C space despite having no DC with me.

All of the disabled bays were full and I'd taken elderly relative with blue badge shopping

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 27/11/2020 21:22

Yay, love a parent parking space thread.

There's one old favourite that hasn't appeared yet, I'm ready and waiting with my bingo card 🤣

FrankiesKnuckle · 27/11/2020 21:22

Even worse, is when an electric vehicle parks in an EV charging bay and doesn't charge. That really grinds my batteries.

vodkaredbullgirl · 27/11/2020 21:22

Tell you what drives me nuts, is people who can't park properly.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 27/11/2020 21:24

I agree but most won't. Don't expect any privileges or convinces because you chose to breed, will presumably be the gist of most of the answers you get.

ghostyslovesheets · 27/11/2020 21:26

Reins are your friend here

Am I the only who’s kids just used to lie down and have to be dragged around like stuffed dogs when I attached reins?

Same. 😁

I usually enjoy the rebellion though the fun wasn't there because it was evening and the carpark was v quiet.

Literally no one has said that.

P&C spaces are one of those things that are nice to have but not essential. A small win when you can get one but not a deal breaker if you can't, you can just park in a non-P&C space instead.

Let me fix that for you...

What about those of us with hidden disabilities? Not taking the piss, I sometimes use P&C so I can open the car door wide enough to get out. Not eligible for BB as can walk.

Oh, don't forget they are non-enforceable too!

Samcro · 27/11/2020 21:31

Yay
I have so missed these threads.
Now i can play bingo

Have you never been on one of these threads before. Not sure where I said anyone has said it yet.
MaryMashedThem · 27/11/2020 21:32

Just peer in the windows and let your toddler loose with a set of keys on any cars that don't have a car seat or booster seat.

Feministicon · 27/11/2020 21:33

I park in those spaces if I have one of my kids with me irrespective of whether it’s my 7 year old or my 13 year old. They are a luxury, get that through your head.

BumpLoading · 27/11/2020 21:34

Apparently these threads are common but I've literally never seen one Blush
So I'm joining in and yes is so annoying especially when they take the last space! Makes me stare out the window as I drive by mouthing "where is your child" like the crazy sleep deprived mummy I am Grin

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 27/11/2020 21:35

BINGO 🤣

I find people getting wound up over parking spaces and creating a hierarchy based on what they assume peoples circumstances are (usually based on a passing glance) so weird. Just assume those using the spaces need them and park somewhere else. No big deal.

Gancanny · 27/11/2020 21:37

Exactly this! If the spaces are full, drive on. Why devote headspace to getting angry about something that is outside of your control?

FightingWithTheWind · 27/11/2020 21:37

My partner once got stuck on a car park with my daughter in her car seat because the cars on both sides had decided to park as close as possible to the car doors, he obviously couldn't leave her on the floor of a car park while he reversed out and so he had to wait for someone to come back and move their car. That wasn't great. I have no idea if the parent and child spaces were taken up by those who needed them or not, but yes I do think that anyone who parks in those spaces without an actual need for them is a selfish twat. By actual need I mean someone who is disabled or has children, not a dickhead who can't park and doesn't want their car to get scraped.

keeprocking · 27/11/2020 21:39

@EssentialHummus

I agree with others about putting them further away, just wider. If I’m in a foul mood and catch someone clearly able-bodied and child free coming back to one I say a jolly “Oh dear, you seem to have forgotten your child in the shop! How silly of you!”
I was the recipient of this harangue a few years ago, it was pouring down, she carried on ranting because I ignored her, I loaded my shopper into the boot, she ranted on, almost in tears with anger. I got into the car and waited until my daughter came out of the store, with my granddaughter! Don't mess with me love!
chubbycheeks26 · 27/11/2020 21:39

I agree OP, it's not hard to be considerate of others.

Although I never have this problem as I don't drive!

LemonPeonies · 27/11/2020 21:40

The pp that said having children is selfish: I've always found the only people who believe this are the kind that are so self absorbed they could never make a decent parent themselves anyway. Part of being a good parent is learning to be selfless and putting someone else before yourself. Smile

Gancanny · 27/11/2020 21:40

Why though? You're not the Parking Monitor and all you do is make yourself look like a tit.

Congratulations! You have won...a 'Baby on Board' car sticker, a set of penguin bollards and a passive-aggressive note to stick on someone's windscreen. Enjoy your prizes Grin

Don't forget to join us for the next round of MN Bingo where we'll be talking about childhood obesity, Universal Credit claimants with great big tellies and 'Why do women without children use Mumsnet?'.

Nice that you would encpourage your child to be a brat yet I would bet you consider yourself to be a wonderful parent. Trust me, you're not.
Gancanny · 27/11/2020 21:43

I think the poster was being sarcastic about letting their toddler key cars.
