To be fed up of people without a baby/child parking in the baby/child bays

It drives me nuts.

Totally selfish.

OP posts:
Somethingsnappy · 28/11/2020 00:09

If I see anyone parking in the P&C spaces without a child, who (to my untrained eye at least) looks fit as a fiddle, I just automatically assume they are insecure and incompetent at being able to park their car in a usual-sized bay and I smile indulgently..... Grin

RightYesButNo · 28/11/2020 00:12

@Feministicon

Seriously, if you can’t park your car get a smaller one or advanced driving lessons.
BINGO!!!

@ghostyslovesheets You forgot to include someone mentioning driving lessons in the list. It was my upper right square. Grin
Other things for BINGO cards based on the past three of these threads:

  • hyperbole
  • someone getting pissy that “maybe others haven’t read the previous 1,056 threads on this subject”
  • mention of not getting large cars one can’t park
  • driving lessons mention
  • and one of the first and most popular comments that ALWAYS happens: “they should just put these spaces at the back of the lot”
  • some reason why spaces can’t be at the back of the lot

@Ginandplatonic

Oh this is great! There’s an “Inconsiderate dog owners” thread running now too. Just like the old days - take that COVID!

Someone just needs to start a “Shoes on or off in the house?” thread and a “How often do you wash your sheets/towels/self?” thread and a “Why are people with no children on MN?” thread and my day will be complete.

Oh can we have a why do selfish mother's insist on using buggy spaces on buses thread to top it off
Igotthemheavyboobs · 28/11/2020 00:19

@MaryMashedThem

Just peer in the windows and let your toddler loose with a set of keys on any cars that don't have a car seat or booster seat.
Or don't do that, you absolute fucking asshat. I clip my carseat into the pram frame and you think your offspring should damage my car because I don't leave 'evidence' of my child when parking in p&c bays?
Nicknamegoeshere · 28/11/2020 00:23

@Igotthemheavyboobs I do the same. But according to some posters you should find alternative ways of transporting your young baby? That way you can park in a "normal" space whilst people with nice cars that don't want scratches can go in the p&b/c.

OP posts:
GabsAlot · 28/11/2020 00:25

not really theyre a courtesy space you dont really need one

Nicknamegoeshere · 28/11/2020 00:27

@GabsAlot But those without babies do?!!

OP posts:
Temporarything · 28/11/2020 00:27

I think they are wider so you can get the baby out of the car seat easily. What’s the problem in making life a bit easier for people?

GabsAlot · 28/11/2020 00:29

theyrejust not needed in general we never used to have them- you dont have a disabilty and they dont need to be on top of the entrance either

Thewithesarehere · 28/11/2020 00:30

@TrainspottingWelsh

How do you know they don't have dc? If dc are secondary age, at university, independent adults etc they are unlikely to accompany the parent to a supermarket.

HTH

WTF Confused
Nicknamegoeshere · 28/11/2020 00:30

@GabsAlot How long ago are we talking? Pre removable car seats/travel systems?

Didn't used to have electricity but I bet you use it

It's a baby and toddler space here, not a "I left my 66 year old daughter at home but i can still use it" space

Ah sorry I mainly park further away from the shop. Or just park in a normal bay. They don't have many in my local shop. I don't really understand the obsession with them, what do people do in carpark without p&c bays? I think it's all a bit pathetic to be getting to irate to be honest.

My post was aimed at someone saying people should encourage small children to damage cars with keys because they are parked in a bay without obvious evidence of a child. Which is just rediculous in all honesty although I think now it may have been a joke.

Temporarything · 28/11/2020 00:59

When my kids were babies I did occasionally find myself boxed in and unable to open the doors wide enough to get them in the car seat. So the wider spaces are useful in avoiding this.

ArranBound · 28/11/2020 01:00

When compared to people selfishly parking in disabled bays when they aren't disabled, parent & child spaces aren't something I can get too worked up about.

Mistymonday · 28/11/2020 03:17

We never get trapped as we can reverse our car out standing next to it using a mobile phone app, like a giant remote controlled car.

That sounds cool and also terrifying too!

Got to be a Tesla?!

dottiedaisee · 28/11/2020 05:21

@SnackSizeRaisin

Or just put baby in boot, reverse 1 metre, and put baby in properly? It's people with massive cars who can't park who clog up the p&c spaces here. Why get a huge jeep or SUV if you are bad at parking, I wonder? Must be a constant stress.
This....drive a normal sized car ,then there is more space....easy !
nancybotwinbloom · 28/11/2020 05:33

@Mistymonday

That sounds amazing

Crustmasiscoming · 28/11/2020 05:44

OP, have you considered that the person who parked there may have dementia? Almost everyone who does anything bad has dementia.

(I'm not sure on the MN bingo rules but I'm counting this one as a win for me)

Mypathtriedtokillme · 28/11/2020 05:50

How about they sacrifice a few of the parking spaces and make ALL parks wider? That way less car dings and more room the get in and out.

It should be less complaining about pram parking more about the ever shrinking size of a standard parking space.

If they didn’t try to shove as many parks in as a Money spinner, they would all be a bit wider and easier for all.

Childrenofthestones · 28/11/2020 05:50

@lyralalala

It would all be solved if they just made parking spaces a decent size, rather than cramming in as many as possible.
Spot on.

I still need two more.

Oh, make that just one.

My eldest is 30. I had a Mac laden super dreamer travel system for him. Removable car seat and carrycot that could be attached flat in the back seat. Travel systems are not new
