AIBU to think I will be able to get my paws on a PlayStation 5?

My DS would quite like the new PlayStation 5 for Christmas, it needed to be pre ordered a couple of months ago which I did not do. It wasn't decided if that is what he was getting so that's why I didn't pre order.
Is this pre order malarchy just to build hype and anticipation or will I really not be able to purchase one nearer to Christmas?
What are your thoughts please?

CEX are offering to buy them from you for £600 and selling them on at £750 🤔 they must be pretty confident they are going to shift them on at that price to pay £150 more than they are worth. I suppose people would feel better buying from them though rather than ebay, but its madness buying them for £750. They are apparently giving 2 year warranty.

As it's highly unlikely I'll be able to get a PS5 (damn my optimism of a few days ago!) I have been looking at PS4 as DS might like this instead but they're out of stock most places too. This will be an interesting week!

I’ve just had an email from game.co.uk confirming some limited stock will be on the website from 9am tomorrow if this helps anyone.

Don’t pay over the odds to people like HotPaton, her behaviour is the whole reason why you can’t get one in the first place! Hope nobody buys her two extra consoles and she’s stuck with them. Thankfully I’ve got a 15 year old with a sensible head on his shoulders who would rather wait if I can’t get hold of one before Christmas than put money in the pockets of people trying to screw others.

I'm glad I decided to wait a few months to get my PS5. I want to see what games are gonna be on it first before I buy.

Not even the promise of my beloved Mass Effect remaster will not tempt me yet.

Curry’s still accepting orders of the non digital version - but need to log into account, add it as a saved item and then go to your account and put it into your basket from there.

I’ve had a confirmation email but don’t know if this is a ‘glitch’ of some kind!

Also just got one on currys and praying they don't cancel the order! I had to add to saved items as above

I can't even find it on the site on currys

I've got one from currys - but have had 2 confirmation emails (I've only bought 1) and 2 emails saying it will be delayed...

Not confident I'm going to get one tbh.

Someone on twitter is reporting that curry's have cancelled her order...

Don’t know if this has been mentioned, but you may be able to get one from EE or my BT if you’re a customer

I got one from JL in my basket and then went to check out and it said sold out!

Nice to see that amongst all those families struggling financially with the pandemic, new consoles are outsold so quickly.

My DS says it's waste of money as very little upgrade from the last version. However his friends, who do come from families who have been hit by the pandemic and don't work are all getting one and without my DS won't be able tono play with them anylonger.

So sad that that's what our society has come down too, rushing to buy expensive new consoles because it's the hype. Then come January, we'll read how families have no choice but to use food banks and/or cant pay their electric bill.

This country (and others) really have their priorities seriously messed up.

I've literally never had to deal with this Christmas frenzy before. The PS5 is the only thing the DTs have asked for. I'm just crossing fingers that the curry's order doesn't get cancelled.

@dontdisturbmenow - I'm sure the people on here are not prioritising a games console over food...
