I mean at the moment no one is carrying cash so he’s being unreasonable. Way back when though I probably would have tipped as a couple of pound is nothing to me but it’s a lot for someone on a low wage.

I always tip in these circumstances

BetteTwoShoes · 15/11/2020 21:50

I always tip takeaway delivery drivers

BettyOBarley · 15/11/2020 21:50

I never tip Blush I didn't even know it was a thing!

DuzzyFuck · 15/11/2020 21:51

I always tip £1 if we have to go down to the building lobby to collect it, £2 if they bring it to our flat door.

Givemeabreak88 · 15/11/2020 21:51

I don’t tip anyone ever

Okbye · 15/11/2020 21:52

If I answer the door I don’t tip delivery drivers unless we were paying cash (ahh remember cash?!) and we didn’t have the right money I’d tell them to keep the change.

My husband tips every time purely because he used to deliver pizzas and knows how nice it is to get a tip! Smile

read this the other day re tipping food delivery drivers

Dominos is the only takeaway local to me who takes cards (when you place the order) and we order from them because we rarely have cash - so no tip.

HerNameIsIncontinentiaButtocks · 15/11/2020 21:59

Always tip. I've worked food service.

Pipandmum · 15/11/2020 21:59

Our domino's just leave the pizza and go - they are supposed to stay 2m away. But normally I tip about 5%. Delivery people for takeaways rely on it (so I wouldn't tip a Tesco delivery person for example).

Crunchymum · 15/11/2020 21:59

I always tip. 10%

I always give the cash too.

We have at least 1 takeaway a week. If we can't afford a £2 tip then we shouldn't be spending £20 on our dinner Shock

Elouera · 15/11/2020 22:00

Not specific to Dominios, but other deliveries, we usually round up to the nearest pound and give that as a tip if its a cash only delivery. If they accept card prior to delivery, we dont leave or give any tip.

Duemarch2021 · 15/11/2020 22:00

I payed with card online as no cash on me.. suppose i could have found couple of quid somewhere but i just think, they get paid to do their job just like i do and everyone else so why do they need a tip? I may sound harsh but i just don't understand it

I think its mean not to tip

SpillingTheTea · 15/11/2020 22:01

Never tip and get called rude for it by my family.
Don't think it's rude in all honesty. Some of them are on higher wages than me and I don't get tipped! Grin

Mrsmorton · 15/11/2020 22:01

I do since I watched a tragic documentary about a young lad who killed himself. An extra £2 on top of a luxury isn't much tbh.

Duemarch2021 · 15/11/2020 22:01

Just opened it and no chicken or onion on my texas bbq!! Angry lol!

OP posts:
lalafafa · 15/11/2020 22:04

I always tip, its a low paid job, I give £2-3 in a sandwich bag.

Duemarch2021 · 15/11/2020 22:05

@Mrsmorton

Why did he kill himself? I dont see how that's relevant to tipping a delivery driver? Not being funny lol im literally just wondering..

Also.. why do people think it's rude? Genuinely curious... they get paid to do that job so why do they rely on the tip?

I always tip

A bit more when the weather is terrible

MondeoFan · 15/11/2020 22:06

I normally tip. Car owners are using wear and tear on their own vehicle.

August20 · 15/11/2020 22:07

It wouldn't occur to me to tip for food delivery.

SpilltheTea · 15/11/2020 22:21

I don't understand why this industry gets tips, but other low paid jobs don't. Not being rude, but I'm not tipping someone for handing me my food.

CarrotCakeCrumbs · 15/11/2020 22:22

At the moment no because all deliveries are supposed to be contact free, but in normal times I absolutely tip. Knowing the shit that the staff have to put up with for minimum wage, the drivers definitely deserve any tips they get (so do the instore staff but that's another matter entirely).
