Blanket freak

Is it weird to have a blanket/ throw folded on your sofa, so that you can snuggle up with it when on the sofa? My husband has just gone on about how he hates the blanket and nobody else has a blanket for this purpose. It's nice, matches the room etc. AIBU?

Nope. I have one.

LouiseTrees · 23/10/2020 18:16

We have these but we put them away when we have guests as FIL thinks it makes the place look untidy.

everyothernamewastaken · 23/10/2020 18:16

We have 2

Blanket box in the defunct fireplace. We all grab one for evening tv viewing!

Florencex · 23/10/2020 18:16

Very common to have a blanket for that purpose. Your DH is BU.

Calabasa · 23/10/2020 18:17

2 here.. one each :)

Newbeginningsnow · 23/10/2020 18:17

We always have two or so on the go here but this was not a thing when I was growing up as my parents are in a similar camp to a PPs FIL.

Looking back I don’t know how we coped without one.

the80sweregreat · 23/10/2020 18:18

It is nice to have some warm things out in the winter time. The kids put a blanket on their bed at night time!

Newbeginningsnow · 23/10/2020 18:18

I really want a plug in heated one. Really want one.

Helpel · 23/10/2020 18:18

We have 2, One on each sofa. I put one over me most nights, even in the summer. My husband was weirded out about it when we first met (10 years ago). He's grown to love/accept them now!

DartmoorChef · 23/10/2020 18:18

We have a sofa each and a big blanket /throw on each.. He is totally unreasonable

chipsandpeas · 23/10/2020 18:19

i have a blanket for this reason and it doesnt match my decor - i dont care im comfy

AgnesNaismith · 23/10/2020 18:20

It isn’t just ok to have one, it’s essential to have one.

SuddenArborealStop · 23/10/2020 18:20

They look untidy, I don't care I can't get comfortable without one

MsEllany · 23/10/2020 18:20

We have four. Large fleecy ones from Dunelm, they’re not especially pretty but when you want to snuggle up to watch a film they’re nice.

Aquamarine1029 · 23/10/2020 18:20

Does your husband live under a rock?

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 23/10/2020 18:20

Yep I crochet so have them all over the place.

WaltzingBetty · 23/10/2020 18:21

@LouiseTrees

We have these but we put them away when we have guests as FIL thinks it makes the place look untidy.
You change your soft furnishings for all guests because of your FIL's opinion? Wow
2toe · 23/10/2020 18:21

We have four, one for each person that lives here, they are in the footstool which has storage but if it was only two I would happily have them over the back of the sofa.

Ginnymweasley · 23/10/2020 18:21

Your dh sounds like my mum. Who thinks that it makes the place look untidy. I don't care I like my blankets, one for each sofa and they match my rug. Can't get cosy without a blanket tbh.

Littleposh · 23/10/2020 18:22

How is it weird??!!

ChocolateCherrybomb · 23/10/2020 18:22

If nobody has a blanket for use on the sofa, what does your DH think people buy those ones with arms in them for. Maybe he thinks they are for going shopping in, out to dinner or a delightful fashion choice for that important business meeting.

Or has he just got a touch of "disagreeable miserable arsehole disease" today.

TeaStory · 23/10/2020 18:22

@Newbeginningsnow

I really want a plug in heated one. Really want one.
Best money I ever spent!
FreeAcorns · 23/10/2020 18:23

I don't know anyone who doesn't have this! Your dh is BU.

TW2013 · 23/10/2020 18:24

We have lots of blankets. I snuggle in one instead of turning heating up when I wfh.
