Blanket freak

Is it weird to have a blanket/ throw folded on your sofa, so that you can snuggle up with it when on the sofa? My husband has just gone on about how he hates the blanket and nobody else has a blanket for this purpose. It's nice, matches the room etc. AIBU?

Yep one each in our house too - love it!!

Halliehallie9828 · 23/10/2020 18:48

We have 3 in the front room ... yanbu

My son actually has 2 in his bed and my daughter is blanket queen and has god knows how many.

reefedsail · 23/10/2020 18:48

We have several and I am getting a weighted one for Christmas. I actually cannot wait!

Cattermole · 23/10/2020 18:48

One on every seat in the house. I hate my furniture but my zealous puritanical soul won't part with it until it's worn out, also we have A Number of cats who have mucky paws and an adventurous small boy.
So blankets AND throws on all my furniture, on grounds of washableness and snuggliness.

BGDino · 23/10/2020 18:48

We have a big queen sized fleece one that lives specifically on the couch!

In our last flat we actually kept a proper duvet on the couch as our insulation was rubbish and winter was chilly. It was the “couch duvet”.

WaltzForDebbie · 23/10/2020 18:49

If he is right then why do shops sell them?

OohThatCat · 23/10/2020 18:49

I have one but it doesn't live on the sofa, I just get it out of a drawer when I want to use it and then put it back.

I kind of hate the look of them on sofas all the time so I keep it tucked away! Also saves it from getting haired up from the cat!

HappySonHappyMum · 23/10/2020 18:49

We have 4 - one for each of us - totally normal!

Snog · 23/10/2020 18:50

Essential!
Eco friendly too

MrsWooster · 23/10/2020 18:50

We have them, and DP feels the same as your DH. They Are Wrong.

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 23/10/2020 18:50

Always used to, but now we have cats they’d end up as hairy cat blankets in seconds. Perfectly normal though, what does he think throws are sold for?

Mind you, my DH refers to cushions as “sofa parasites” so he’d probably not get it either.

QueSera · 23/10/2020 18:50

Blankets are essential! I have several!

OhMsBeliever · 23/10/2020 18:51

We have loads! My bf has none so I was moaning to him about his lack of blankets on his sofa just the other day. I might have to buy him one.

IamHyouweegobshite · 23/10/2020 18:51

We have so many blankets, all of my dc love snuggling into a cosy blanket. Dh was a bit Hmm but he's got used to it.

CoffeeChouxBun · 23/10/2020 18:51

I have a heated throw that you plug in. Doesn't look great so I do mostly put it away when I'm not using it.

speakout · 23/10/2020 18:52

Never had them growing up, no central heating either and I remember being so cold as a child.

Now I have them everywhere, perfect for evening times in pjs watching tv, wrapping around cold or tired people, we have one each in the bedroom, probably 15 or so scattered around the house.
I do like them folded and put in place when not being used though.

DelphineWalsh · 23/10/2020 18:52

I have one, the same one that my nanny had. The label says it was made in West Germany so its at least that old.

NeedToKnow101 · 23/10/2020 18:53

We've got 3. I'm just sitting here with one of them wrapped around me.

TheSpottedZebra · 23/10/2020 18:53

I am having my annual fret about fleece ( practical, washes quickly but microplastics ) vs wool ( naicer, sustainable but a faff to wash and gets holes )

Blanket life ain't easy Sad

MillicentMartha · 23/10/2020 18:53

We have one each. Saves a fortune on my heating bill. I have the thermostat set to 18C rather than 20C.

coronafiona · 23/10/2020 18:55

I have one and I love it but I hide it in the pouffe when I'm not using it x

Grobagsforever · 23/10/2020 18:56

@LouiseTrees

We have these but we put them away when we have guests as FIL thinks it makes the place look untidy.
@LouiseTrees

For ALL guests or just FIL, who one assumes doesn't actually do any tidying?

MenaiMna · 23/10/2020 18:56

One each: so three in my house. Nobody allowed to leave the room if they've not folded their blanket!

Modestandatinybitsexy · 23/10/2020 18:56

I think we gave blanket for every room. Old draughty house and it saves on heating or giving DH heatstroke just to make me feel comfortable

Zaphodsotherhead · 23/10/2020 18:57

I have a lovely fleecy one artfully draped over the back of my sofa. I never get to cover myself with it because the dog is always tunnelled under it.

Those who don't have blankets for TV/relaxing time - do you have your central heating turned up really high?
