Blanket freak

Is it weird to have a blanket/ throw folded on your sofa, so that you can snuggle up with it when on the sofa? My husband has just gone on about how he hates the blanket and nobody else has a blanket for this purpose. It's nice, matches the room etc. AIBU?

@Justmuddlingalong

I'm not adverse to putting the heating on. But tonight it's off because I'm cosy enough under my fleecy blanket. Just out of nosiness, do those who use blankets, do you "wear" it around your shoulders or draped across your legs and body?
Personally I'm a draper, however when it's time to forage for ice cream or chocolate I do the shoulder cape Grin

I have a fleecy blanket, my house is old, and bit draughty in parts, so I use it on the sofa in winter. I usually fold it up after use, as I have three cats who would always go and sleep on it, and it would be full of cats hairs, like the rest of the house !

Lemonyfuckit · 23/10/2020 19:10

I also happen to think ours don't remotely look untidy, they're naice woollen ones in tonal colours with the cushions and 'draped artfully' when not in use. Loads of cosy/hygge/stylish interiors pictures of living rooms include tastefully draped throws, contrasting cushions etc as part of the overall look. Didn't realise it was a thing that some people consider untidy / would hide away if they have guests.

Yep 5 blankets. They live in a wicker basket. Theres only 3 of us in the house but they are different weights and colours.

Annoys me when DH leaves them out all crumpled though Angry

Tinghtwek · 23/10/2020 19:12

I've never heard of or seen this in my life, so to me it certainly seems unusual, but I wouldn't say it's WEIRD. The reasoning for it is sound. Can't see why anyone would hate it either. It's just a blanket.

Justmuddlingalong · 23/10/2020 19:12

😁 I'm a draper too, it's like a giant bib when I'm scoffing treats.

Ponoka7 · 23/10/2020 19:12

Me and my adult DD, who lives with me have already ordered this year's Christmas ones. The women I know who haven't got one, tend to have heavier dressing gowns.
I bought my DD a heated blanket one Christmas, she loves hers.

DodgeRainClouds · 23/10/2020 19:12

We have 3

ToastyCrumpet · 23/10/2020 19:13

I wear a onesie if it’s cold. Also fluffy slippers and a dressing gown.

I would find it annoying if they are left out crumpled. For me, the quick tidy round / plump the cushions up etc before go to bed or next morning always includes folding up the blankets if used and putting back in their place.
Truthlikeness · 23/10/2020 19:14

I have a beautiful woollen blanket on my sofa and one on my bed. I'd love another but have nowhere to put it. Maybe I'll buy one anyway.

Leflic · 23/10/2020 19:15

I think they’re a bit yuck really.
Fine if you’re old, fine in a freezing home with just family but it’s all just a bit lazy looking
Reminds me of being sick as a kid and a massive treat I was allowed to sleep on the sofa with a blanket to watch TV ( rather than being in bed bored).

JenniferSantoro · 23/10/2020 19:16

I have four.

BoudicasBoudoir · 23/10/2020 19:16

We don’t have any. Don’t know anyone who does, either.

But we have very few friends. That’s probably why.

MollyButton · 23/10/2020 19:17

We have a basket for blankets, and people can gra them when they want

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 23/10/2020 19:18

I have more than one! There is the “smart” one that matches the colour scheme and is folded at the end of the sofa and then there are a couple of others that live in the pouffe so that nobody goes without a snuggle if they want it 😊

Especially useful when the DCs were small and not feeling well. The Dinosaur blankie was practically medicinal!

Etinox · 23/10/2020 19:19

We have several- v cheap and quick to dry Ikea ones so they get washed several times a well 🐶

Jojobythesea · 23/10/2020 19:19

I had four and DS nicked one for his bedroom

ravenmum · 23/10/2020 19:19

I have a smart one that matches the other fabrics on the sofa. My bf has one on his sofa for his daughter. You can get them everywhere, specifically advertised as sofa throws. Has your husband never been to a shop before?

Thinking of getting some kind of luxury dressing gown for WFH :)

BakedTattie · 23/10/2020 19:20

2 on each sofa here!

kitschplease · 23/10/2020 19:20

Clicked YABU; meant YANBU.
Best thing about Autumn.

JollyGiraffe12 · 23/10/2020 19:23

We have 3 out all the time we have 2 sofas, 1 chair and we have an additional two stored in an ottoman which are out almost every night recently. We put them away in the summer though.

Katypyee · 23/10/2020 19:23

We have loads of blankets and throws in our living room and basement. In our living room we have a big basket next to the couch with an array of blankets and throws. We love cuddling up watching movies. Nothing weird about it at all.

S111n20 · 23/10/2020 19:23

YANBU. We have a blanket box in the loving room so we can snuggle up and watch tv.

Imakemistakeseveryday · 23/10/2020 19:23

You are definitely not alone! I think at this time of year it is lovely to wrap up in a blanket to watch a bit of telly when it's dark and cold outside. I have just bought some Russian Army blankets off Ebay and I really like them: geometric grey patterns and once washed they smell and look fab! I think if your husband hates your blanket perhaps it's time to choose some more till you get some he likes too!
