Is it weird to have a blanket/ throw folded on your sofa, so that you can snuggle up with it when on the sofa? My husband has just gone on about how he hates the blanket and nobody else has a blanket for this purpose. It's nice, matches the room etc. AIBU?

I've got the most incredible faux fur blanket but it was insane money. Absolute madness. (The best thing ever.)

VerbenaGirl · 24/10/2020 18:34

My sofa blanket is totally one of my favourite things in life.

tactum · 24/10/2020 18:37

Every sofa in my house has one and they are used all year round. I don't know anyone who doesn't use them.

Arrivederla · 24/10/2020 18:43

Any adult who uses the word "snuggle" is totally fucking unreasonable.

Lolwhat · 24/10/2020 19:00

Yep at least one on every sofa and a blanket box stuffed to the brim in the bedroom, love them for getting cozy

Arborea · 24/10/2020 21:59

@Moominmammaatsea do Melin Tregwynt have a factory shop? Or are prices there the same as the sale section on their website? I have long coveted a proper Welsh blanket but £399 is a bit spendy for my budget!

BitOfFun · 24/10/2020 22:13

We have a quilt that I made by hand myself

@arborea Ooh I LOVE a Welsh blanket. They’re pricy but will last forever and ever. There aren’t many mills left now which makes me feel like I should buy another one 😬😄

Proudboomer · 25/10/2020 00:35

I have two teddy bear fleeces.
The newer one is for me and the old one for the cat. I also have two spare folded on a foot stall.

Pukkatea · 25/10/2020 00:41

I have two blankets. One doesn't match. If my DH said it was him or the blanket he'd be out.

sweetkitty · 25/10/2020 00:46

We have a few here too, putting one over yourself guarantees the dog will be under it with you in 30 seconds flat!

I love this thread and it got me thinking of Aussie outlets and this caught my eye. Like lots of people living in Australia, I've long known that pure wool blankets are protection in a bush fire, but hadn't known it was an actual range, like loungewear:

Not handsome but serviceable.

BefuddledPerson · 25/10/2020 04:13

@HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime

Yep I crochet so have them all over the place.
Haha me too, regularly say 'we've too many blankets!' and then make another one.

Life without a cosy blanket seems very sterile and cold.

I'm starting on quilts now too.

Very nice!
Mypathtriedtokillme · 25/10/2020 04:34

In Aus and we have 4, one for each of us. (2 that match the room and 2 totally different blankets made by my mum which the kids favourites)
They are regularly used to make blanket forts as often as they are used to cuddle on the couch while watch TV.

BitOfFun · 25/10/2020 04:59

@BefuddledPerson, thank you! Just ONE nod is all I needed Grin.

SquigglePigs · 25/10/2020 05:05

We have several. Nice ones that match the room. They're Available for us and guests. I use mine so much that if I sit in my chair and my blanket is on the sofa my toddler brings me my blanket!

Oysterbabe · 25/10/2020 06:04

I have one in the lounge and a plug in heated one upstairs in my office. I get chilly stuck to my desk all day so it's lovely to have a warm blanket across my knees.

Veryverycalmnow · 25/10/2020 20:19

Thanks again for all your lovely responses. Looks like DH was wrong and I was right. I love it when that happens. Keep snuggling people! 😁

Has your DH been informed?

Shizzlestix · 25/10/2020 22:27

Grey fleece one here, it lives on the back of the recliner in the kitchen where we have film nights. Your DH is wrong!

Have a look online at Trefriw Woollen Mill. Also traditional welsh blankets, slightly less expensive than Melin.

I have two from there, one inherited from my Welsh grandmother, one inherited from my mum - it was one of her wedding presents.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 26/10/2020 08:42

I think the reason the older generation didnt have this is they didnt actually spend that much time lolling on the sofa! My mum was always doing something, knitting, sewing, keeping busy. My dad was very active, often out playing sport, running or cycling.

I have a blanket. But I can see how it must appear as though our generation (I'm 35) are quite lazy. You get cold if you arent moving around enough.

Moominmammaatsea · 26/10/2020 08:49

@Arborea, so sorry for not responding, I never get any MN notifications. Melin Tregwynt has a huge annual sale every August, people queue for hours like the first day of the Harris’s sale! It’s usually the third weekend in August? The sale is also online but things vanish from your basket quicker than your fingers can work to check out! If you sign up for the Yarns from the Mill ie its newsletters, there is also a monthly discount of 30pc on a particular pattern.

lazylinguist · 26/10/2020 09:31

My mum was always doing something, knitting, sewing, keeping busy.

I knit on the sofa, sometimes with the blanket over my lap!
