To not understand the Hinch/grey everything trend?

I just don't understand the attraction. Why is everyone so obsessed with Mrs Hinch and having every inch of their house grey so it looks like a negative? Is it just me who's miserable or something.. I just don't understand it!

OP posts:

Me neither but it makes them happy!

PoxyJobOffice · 07/10/2020 17:06

I think greys just easy to match and quite neutral and light, especially good in small spaces. It’s not just mrs Hinch. My house isn’t grey but if I redecorated I probably would go grey as it seems to work well

Biancadelrioisback · 07/10/2020 17:09

She's basically teaching people how to clean. She's got some nifty tricks. Loads of people probably don't know how to clean a house or how often they should do things. I think it's great what she's doing!

Grey is calming. Yes her house is OTT in my opinion but I love my grey and white bedroom, it's so relaxing.

Freddiefox · 07/10/2020 17:09

It’s just a trend, looks a bit colour less to me. But I do like grey walls with colourful painting and layering and texture.

daisydukes26 · 07/10/2020 17:11

My house is pretty much grey throughout.

It's warm, cosy and calming. I have lots of candles and blankets. People always comment on how relaxed they feel here.

Each to their own I say.

malificent7 · 07/10/2020 17:17

This has been discuseed at lngth. Grey can be relaxing...not my bag but i admire hercleanliness!

malificent7 · 07/10/2020 17:17

Grey can look nice but out of curiosity I just looked at Mrs Hinch’s Instagram page and thought the pictures were in black and white until I saw her dog 😂
It’s not to my taste. I think all grey rooms (especially with those very thick pile grey/silver carpets) look really chavvy. It makes me cringe when I see grey crushed velvet sofas too

Byllis · 07/10/2020 17:22

Couldn’t care less how people decorate their own homes, but the trend of painting the exterior of entire buildings dark grey should be outlawed!

emilybrontescorsett · 07/10/2020 17:26

I don’t have much grey but I do think it can look very nice. My dd follows her cleaning tips so I’m not going to criticise her.
The one thing I don’t like are grey fences. I’ve never seen one which looks nice.

Yoffel · 07/10/2020 17:26

Grey is far too ‘out there’ for me I’m afraid, I’m more of a beige and cream person 😁

TheExecutionOfAllThings · 07/10/2020 17:28

People can enjoy grey, that's fine. But I've never necessarily understood following a trend because they go out of fashion and you need to update.

I think it's more important to find what suits your house - if grey is right for your home, then go for it!

ememem84 · 07/10/2020 17:29

Our bedroom is grey and white. Accented by either yellow blue or pink cushions and throws on the bed.

The rest of the house is fairly neutral and again accented with bits of colour here and there.

Emeraldshamrock · 07/10/2020 17:32

It is has been a few weeks since there's been a grey interior thread.
I thought it went out of fashion. Grin

Plussizejumpsuit · 07/10/2020 17:33

Ffs there's a thread on this several times a week.

TheWernethWife · 07/10/2020 17:35

I have a 3 grey rooms in my house, various shades of grey. Quite happy with them.

My lovely neighbour lives in magnolia land, completely her choice.

vanillandhoney · 07/10/2020 17:36

I swear more people complain about grey decor than actually have grey decor.

Emeraldshamrock · 07/10/2020 17:37

The word chavvy made it on 1st page it usually takes 2nd of 3rd page place. Hmm

Redcups64 · 07/10/2020 17:39

My house was grey before the hinch, but since she joined Instagram everyone’s is now, so I’ve redecorated and have no grey as she has made it cheap looking.

I create trends, not follow them.

(I don’t, but it sounded good in my head😂)

Averyyounggrandmaofsix · 07/10/2020 17:40

I had grey before anyone had heard of Mrs Hinch!

Ideasplease322 · 07/10/2020 17:41

I have just put in new grey Floor tiles. It’s easy to put other colours against it. I have a white kitchen and white walls.

Mayo ma a chav 😂

It is a trend I actually like (although only a bit of grey, not everything). I hated the brown and red trend. Hated the pine furniture trend. Hated the cream walls everyone used to have.

12309845653ghydrvj · 07/10/2020 17:42

I have nothing against nicely done Scandinavian style grey interiors, while not my personal taste they look lovely.

However the grey with silver and crushed velvet look is tasteless and tacky, it looks like somewhere where people go to get terrible lip filler and come home with pink eye.

RunningFromInsanity · 07/10/2020 17:42

Not bothered about Mrs Hinchingbrooke but I love grey. It’s clean, crisp, airy, matches everything, minimalist, calming and because there’s so many different shades all my rooms match without being too monotone.

Ideasplease322 · 07/10/2020 17:42

Very light grey wall paint works well in kitchen and bathrooms I think.

But we all have different taste

whoopma · 07/10/2020 17:44

Grey is the new magnolia & it works. The issue is when you add to the grey walls with a grey sofa, grey rug, grey cushion & some silver shiny shite.
