To think we shouldn't wish ill on Trump?

imamearcat · 03/10/2020 01:08

I must admit I'm not proud of how I felt when I heard Trump has Covid. Dislike him as much as most of us. Let's be honest, it wasn't a feeling of sadness.

But I feel a bit awful about my reaction, I would have hoped I wouldn't wish anyone ill / dead, so I'm trying to get over myself and grow up!

Is it not a really horrible thing, to be glad someone might be seriously ill / die, even if they are a cunt? He's still a person?

OP posts:
IheartHarryStyles · 03/10/2020 01:12

I don’t care about being thought horrible.

bettsbattenburg · 03/10/2020 01:14

I can't stand how he comes across but at the end of the day he's a parent and it's not right that people hope his children lose a father.

TheDuchessofMalfy · 03/10/2020 01:15

I can’t really wish a person to die, but I wouldn’t shed any tears.

BigChocFrenzy · 03/10/2020 01:17

I'd feel the same about Putin, Xi JinPing, Kim Wrong-Un and several other evil bastard leaders: 🎻

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 03/10/2020 01:18

I don't wish ill on him.
I don't wish ill on anyone. Not axe murderers or people who talk at the cinema.
But I don't have to send him "thoughts and prayers" either.
I imagine God already has a good idea of the state Trump's soul. Such as it may be.

BigChocFrenzy · 03/10/2020 01:19

However, it would be a bloody awful mess at this stage of the US election process

It would be typical of him to create even more chaos for his country by dying at the most awkward time

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 03/10/2020 01:20

I literally give no fucks if he dies. I'll be delighted.

He hasn't given a shit about the lives lost die to his stupidity, I'm not even speaking solely about covid, he also said some fucking disgusting things to a bereaved father in a 'political debate', he deserves everything that's coming to him and more besides that.

He doesn't give a fuck about anyone else besides himself, the world should respond accordingly.

Does he even have a soul?
TheLastStarfighter · 03/10/2020 01:21

I wouldn’t wish for him to die, I would prefer him to go to prison. But the only sad thing about his passing would be that his youngest is still just a child.

JunkCrumpet · 03/10/2020 01:27

I disagree with him on everything and dislike him greatly. But the people wishing him dead are nasty, nasty people. It's commonly said that you can see a man's true colours on a first date by how they treat the waiting staff, not how they treat you - it's the same situation here. People who wish someone dead (especially a person they don't actually know) because they disagree with their politics or beliefs or even because they think they're a bad person, are not people who should be trusted.

SheepandCow · 03/10/2020 01:29

You're right OP.
He has a 14 year old child.

Wish him out of office, wish him prison if you want, but wishing someone dead is pretty sick.

Biden has wished him well. Because sometimes politics needs to be set aside.

Topseyt · 03/10/2020 01:37

I don't like him, I think he is an arse and would never vote for him in a million years, but I don't wish him personal harm or death.

vodkaredbullgirl · 03/10/2020 01:37

I don't wish him dead, just hope to fuck he starts to take it seriously.

Lets remember for a moment how he treated Sgt La David Johnson's widow .No he deserves NO thoughts or kindness .NO no no.
CalmYoBadSelf · 03/10/2020 01:38

I don't care for him but think anyone who wishes ill on another human who is ill is the lowest of the low.

I think many people thinking they are clever or cool in being negative about him have just shown their true colours

WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo · 03/10/2020 01:40

Is an air punch and high giving the person next to me ok ? I mean I didn't actively wish death upon him. Blush

HeddaGarbled · 03/10/2020 01:46

I think the world will be a better place without him in it, but it’ll turn him into a martyr. Much better if he gets voted out and forever remembered as the worst American president there has ever been (hopefully).

c75kp0r · 03/10/2020 01:51

It would be convenient if he was just ill enough to miss out on the election and then got better to see his boy and grandchildren grow up.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 03/10/2020 02:14

It is sick to wish death on people, it's even sicker to cause death and not care, to treat bereaved, and deceased people like shit to point score, to be openly racist, sexist homophobic, transphobic, in fact, to hate anyone out with the white hetero rich male category. I don't hate his politics, I hate him as a human being, everything he says and every single thing he stands for.

Do I wish him dead? Not particularly. Will I be sorry if he dies? Abso-fucking-lutely not.

OlympicProcrastinator · 03/10/2020 02:27

As a black woman, listening to him deliberately failing to condemn white supremacists during the presidential debate the other day, telling the proud boys to ‘stand by’ and saying that white supremicists groups have ‘very fine people’ amongst them them, I have to disagree. He and his ilk wish me dead every day.

I’m simply returning the favour.

ilovesooty · 03/10/2020 02:35

If he dies from this he'll be treated as a martyr by his supporters. I certainly won't feel sorry though if he's ill and has an uncomfortable time.

I'd like him to be around to be defeated in the election and I'd be happy to see him in prison.

Giggorata · 03/10/2020 03:00

He is an awful human being and appears to have no redeeming features whatsoever. But I don't wish him harm or death.
That's because I'm a better human being.

Goosefoot · 03/10/2020 03:03

Realistically it might be best for the US if he did die, and he's an older man and clearly has less life ahead of him than behind, but I agree, it is not a good thing to wish someone dead.

It doesn't really affect the other person, especially someone you have no actual contact with. But I think it's not really good for us to think that way about others, it has a bad effect on the mind.

Mintjulia · 03/10/2020 03:06

I won't waste any effort wishing him anything.

echt · 03/10/2020 03:09

I'd buy the first part of what you said, as Trump is an utterly dreadful POTUS.

The second part, so often trotted out about elders, stinks. An elder person has fewer years to look forward to, so they should be privileged in terms of care. The younger have by the same analogy, have years ahead of them to enjoy.
