To think we shouldn't wish ill on Trump?

I must admit I'm not proud of how I felt when I heard Trump has Covid. Dislike him as much as most of us. Let's be honest, it wasn't a feeling of sadness.

But I feel a bit awful about my reaction, I would have hoped I wouldn't wish anyone ill / dead, so I'm trying to get over myself and grow up!

Is it not a really horrible thing, to be glad someone might be seriously ill / die, even if they are a cunt? He's still a person?

  • is there no one in either party who isn't in their 70s in the USA ? Crazy that people who are near death, are running (or want to run) the most powerful country on earth.*

Absofuckinglutely!

derxa · 03/10/2020 19:37

@jasjas1973

Whether Trump lives or dies won't change America, they'll still have foreign wars, mass poverty and no healthcare system.

Obama was in for 8 years, USA didn't become a nicer place compared to Bush's tenure in the WH.

Trumps illness will make life harder for Biden, who is in a lose lose situation.... why he has taken down any personal campaign stuff.

Aside, is there no one in either party who isn't in their 70s in the USA ?

Absolutely

What pleasant people you are

Why do people say this?
It's like when feminists are told to "be kind" to men who wish to do us harm

Trump wishes to do us harm. Is it kinder to turn the other cheek or be honest?

Worstyear2020 · 03/10/2020 19:38

70s are near death? All my grandparents lived 90+ years.

Sargass0 · 03/10/2020 19:40

I bet all those mexican children separated from their parents are gutted

He is threatening a coup, though. This could have enormous repercussions around the world.

Obama didn't do that. And to do Obama justice, though there were lots of things he couldn't or wouldn't change, he did at least try with Obamacare.

katy1213 · 03/10/2020 19:42

He'll make a lovely corpse if the bleach fades that orange tan.

There's a difference between appeasement and wishing somebody (the parent of a child) dead.

Like I said yesterday, wishing someone out of office or in prison is one thing (I fervently did for Blair and Osborne) but death wishes are something else. Quite disturbing.

As for wishing women harm. It's not Trump who supports putting biological men with penises in women's refuges, hospital wards, schoolgirls changing rooms, or women's prisons. You don't have to be a Trump supporter to see there's not exactly a great choice for women in the US.

Echobelly · 03/10/2020 19:46

Lots of RW Americans on Twitter saying 'Oooh, look at those nasty libs showing their true colours', yet they've wished all kinds of ill on people for being women, for being black, for being gay. Trump is a bully, a con man, a sexual predator, a racist; an enabler of bulliers, con men, sexual predators and white supremacists. He has chosen to be that way to consolidate his own power. I am quite happy to hope for death for him.

Yes, sad for his kids, but mostly sad as they'll watch his assets be taken away from them by all his creditors after his death. Because he chose to be a crook.

Trump isn't the President of Mexico.

Meanwhile, if you're concerned about children being separated from their parents and locked up, take a look closer to home. People in glass houses...
The UK locks mentally ill people, including children, in police cells. Because we don't have enough mental health facilities.

I said it I'm not saying you should be kind. Trump won't hear your words. Your poison will only harm you. It's bugger all to do with feminism. If Obama can wish for Trump's recovery then perhaps you could try
Tunnocks34 · 03/10/2020 19:54

I don’t wish him dead, but I won’t waste my breathe wishing him well either. In all honestly I think the world would be a much better place without him; and his hatred. But that’s not my decision to make.

b0redb0redb0red · 03/10/2020 20:00

Indeed, Echobelly - I lost count of how many Trump supporters were gloating over Chrissy Teigen’s pregnancy loss on social media earlier this week. I can respect the argument that we shouldn’t lower ourselves to their level (although frankly that would take a lot of doing) but the hypocrisy of all their whining about Democrats being so mean and full of hate makes me laugh.

HeddaGarbled · 03/10/2020 20:07

He’s a politician. Us civilians can say what we really mean.

derxa · 03/10/2020 20:10

He’s a politician. Us civilians can say what we really mean. Do you really think the Obamas are hoping that Trump dies? Really?

mbosnz · 03/10/2020 20:11

I'm not a worldwide figure. I'm not a politician.

So I don't have to mouth platitudes for a person I loathe and despise, and wish nothing but the kind of ill he has inflicted on others.

corythatwas · 03/10/2020 20:13

If Obama can wish for Trump's recovery then perhaps you could try*

That depends on how many more people will die because of him.

derxa · 03/10/2020 20:19

So I don't have to mouth platitudes for a person I loathe and despise, and wish nothing but the kind of ill he has inflicted on others. You can hate someone but wishing death on them seems extreme. I can understand that thinking if someone has killed your loved one but the president of a foreign country?
Donald Trump will die. We all do at some point.

jasjas1973 · 03/10/2020 20:27

@Worstyear2020

70s are near death? All my grandparents lived 90+ years.
True but would you want 70, 80 or 90 yo's flying a plane or doing your heart bypass?

Obama didn't do that. And to do Obama justice, though there were lots of things he couldn't or wouldn't change, he did at least try with Obamacare

You ve made my point, Obama didn't achieve anything really.
the US system hamstrings good and bad POTUS.

Which is why Trump couldn't really have had a coup, the yanks have a written constitution making it extremely hard for that to happen, short of military involvement, the Supreme Court has to follow it.

Anyway, Trump needs to recover and he needs to lose badly in November, anything else and he wins.

He can then fuck off and die

SheepandCow · 03/10/2020 20:32

@corythatwas

If Obama can wish for Trump's recovery then perhaps you could try*

That depends on how many more people will die because of him.

Thousands and thousands and thousands of people have died because of Cameron and Osborne's austerity policies. Which were born out of Blair's war on the disabled - the benefit 'reforms' he and Brown set up for their successors to continue. The UN has condemned the UK's treatment of the disabled. Not that many would know - because outrage over these people's plight has been decidedly muted.

I don't wish any of them dead. Prison possibly, or even better - living the life they imposed on so many others. Perhaps it's just me but it's not normal to wish anyone dead.

An eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind.

mbosnz · 03/10/2020 20:34

You can hate someone but wishing death on them seems extreme. I can understand that thinking if someone has killed your loved one but the president of a foreign country?

Is that the ill he has caused many tens of thousands of others? In far worse environments than the cushioned luxury he's currently enjoying? Well then. . . .

NewlyGranny · 03/10/2020 20:44

I don't wish ill on anyone. Even people who actively harm others. But I am concerned about how turbulent and dangerous things could become in the run-up to the election if Trump is incapacitated or dies during this peiod. I have close family in an overwhelmingly Trump-supporting area and I'm anxious about their safety.

Nobody could make Trump take Covid 19 seriously or even stop him calling it "China virus", so it's not really surprising that he contracted it amnd may have spread it to others, especially if it turns out to be true tht he tested positive as early as Wednesday. He will have to take the consequences of his action whatever anyone might wish him. But others may suffer whao have done nothing as rash and selfish as he.

Shizzlestix · 03/10/2020 20:51

The only concern I have is that Pence, who would take over, is even crazier than Trump

That was my first thought too. Imagine having that bloke in charge, as terrifying as having Trump.

I hope Trump loses by a very considerable margin in November and accepts his defeat rather than banging on about postal voter fraud (funny how he doesn’t worry about that in States where he’s winning!)

The guy is an absolute arsehole. I’m completely amazed he ever made it to where he is.

Wrenna · 03/10/2020 20:51

I’m not ‘happy’ he has it, but I’m not ‘not happy’ he has it either. I hope he recovers though, as the alternative would give us Plastic Pence (US Citizen here). If nothing else maybe he ‘could’ sympathize with the whole Covid situation now, but I think he will just downplay it anyway.
