To think we shouldn't wish ill on Trump?

I must admit I'm not proud of how I felt when I heard Trump has Covid. Dislike him as much as most of us. Let's be honest, it wasn't a feeling of sadness.

But I feel a bit awful about my reaction, I would have hoped I wouldn't wish anyone ill / dead, so I'm trying to get over myself and grow up!

Is it not a really horrible thing, to be glad someone might be seriously ill / die, even if they are a cunt? He's still a person?

@c75kp0r

It would be convenient if he was just ill enough to miss out on the election and then got better to see his boy and grandchildren grow up.

I dont wish him ill or dead, but I also dont care if he is. The fact is the world would be a better place without him as the president of America however that were to happen.

unmarkedbythat · 03/10/2020 11:56

@RaisinGhost

We shouldn't wish ill on anyone

If only Trump himself believed that!

I know, but I like the Obama approach even if I don't always manage to live up to it myself. "When they go low we go high". It's admirable. I don't think I achieve it very often but I can see it's the better way to be!
Time40 · 03/10/2020 12:01

I had a post deleted yesterday for saying what many people on this thread are saying (I was most offended about being deleted).

the people wishing him dead are nasty, nasty people

I'm really nice and kind about most things, honest!

Mittens030869 · 03/10/2020 12:04

I used to long for the day when Mugabe would die. Then he was forced out of office so it no longer mattered either way. It was a case of thinking that it would be much better for the people of Zimbabwe if he wasn't president, and he didn't look like he would ever leave office willingly.

Same with Trump, except that in a democracy a president can be voted out of office. So no, I don't hope he'll die, I just fervently hope he'll lose the election.

Carpathian2 · 03/10/2020 12:15

The last thing I want him to is die at this point, he'd become a martyr and his deputy would be sworn in. Better that he recovers, loses the election and gets prosecuted as a private citizen for the shit show he's caused.

LadyCatStark · 03/10/2020 12:20

How many people will die due to his incompetence/ evilness if he gets another 4 years?

Lantern156 · 03/10/2020 12:20

I wouldn’t actively wish illness on anyone but now that an evil person has caught an illness as a direct result of his own stupidity, ignorance, arrogance and selfishness I’m hardly going to feel sympathy for him. He is entirely the author of his own misfortune and he deserves no sympathy or kindness as far as I’m concerned.

Unsure33 · 03/10/2020 12:23

He did not cause the death of thousands the virus did. And if the virus was not in existence they would not have died . If people were stupid enough to listen to his attitude without doing their own research that’s partly their own fault .

However I don’t like him or what he stands for and in a way I think he deserves to get covid because of his attitude , but I would never wish another human being death by a horrible disease.

I hope he survives , loses the election , and gets his due deserved punishments and financial loss.

Mittens030869 · 03/10/2020 12:24

@LadyCatStark I agree with you. But I think a Republican victory will be bad whether Trump survives or not, as I think Pence will be worse. I'm therefore not hoping that Trump dies, although I have no sympathy for him, as I think he has only himself to blame.

MrsTerryPratchett · 03/10/2020 16:46

Pence actively hates women's rights. Trump hates women, which has the same effect but Pence is worse on this.

The Canadians will have to build abortion clinics all along the border.

BlueThistles · 03/10/2020 17:07

Trump will be fine... He's good and I will still Vote for him. 🌺

topcat2014 · 03/10/2020 17:11

I only worry about Barron losing a father at a young age

SweetPetrichor · 03/10/2020 17:27

I wouldn’t waste my time wishing anything on him, but I wouldn’t care if he were to die. It’s catch-22...if he dies then he’s a martyr and if he lives then he’s going to think he’s the big strong boy who survived Covid. He’s a fanny but not worth wasting thought on.

Adarajames · 03/10/2020 17:43

I’d be feeling pretty celebratory if he dies from covid, same with Johnson! I hold them responsible for a large number of deaths in the respective countries, their overwhelming arrogance and self interest has been directly responsible for thousands of deaths, they deserve a painful ending

ClementineWoolysocks · 03/10/2020 17:48

I think he's reaping exactly what he's sown. I couldn't give two fucks if he dies.

derxa · 03/10/2020 18:01

I have no idea when "wishing people dead" was considered a bad thing.
What pleasant people you are

ClementineWoolysocks · 03/10/2020 18:07

What pleasant people you are

I'm absolutely delightful thank you very much.
Trump is a stain on humanity, he cares about no one but himself and always has his own best interests at heart.
I don't 'wish' him dead but I won't care if he dies, he's literally nothing to me.

MsEllany · 03/10/2020 18:25

^^ I’m 100% with @ClementineWoolysocks. I’m not a bad person because I’m completely indifferent to the possible demise of a racist rapist who just happens to have a child. I feel sorry that his children might miss him, especially Barron who I think is a young teen. I would feel the same for, I dunno, Ted Bundy’s daughter when he died.

Adarajames · 03/10/2020 18:53

I’m with them ^

I’ve been running covid support for our town of over 4500 households as well as surrounding villages, I’ve seen some of devastation, much of which could’ve been avoided had our government and leader had any level of basic decent humanity! .

lazylinguist · 03/10/2020 18:58

I don't wish him dead, nor do I send thoughts and wishes for him to recover. I wouldn't be sad if he died, but would much rather he was toppled from his ill-deserved post, mocked and consigned to the scrap heap of history than that he died and people wasted any sympathy on him. I also don't wish him dead because I don't think harbouring such thoughts is good (for the person thinking them).

Blackberrycream · 03/10/2020 18:59

I don’t like Trump or anything he stands for however to dehumanise someone you don’t approve of is a dangerous path to take. I had this discussion with my teenage son as we listened to the news on the radio. We have had recent events where black Americans have had their actions and life choices combed over to somehow justify the brutality meted out against them.Trump is certainly part of this problem but by lowering ourselves to the same standards we also make this behaviour ok in our ‘ othering’. There are connections that need to be made that some people seem unable or unwilling to address and when we join with these personal attacks we are part of the bigger pattern and part of the problem.
Trump’s poisonous ideology needs to be debated, discussed and hopefully voted out at the ballot box. The Obama’s do have the right idea. Take the high road.

corythatwas · 03/10/2020 19:19

I'd prefer it if he went to prison. But I do wish someone who has openly encouraged Nazi supremacists to "stand by" in case he doesn't win the election legally will be stopped in his tracks whatever it takes. For the sake of his country, for the sake of the world. For the sake of the thousands who might die if it came to civil war.

Though I agree that it would be very bad if he ended up as a martyr.

corythatwas · 03/10/2020 19:21

It would be lovely to agree with this. But he has already hinted very strongly he won't go peacefully if voted out and he has encouraged the alt-right to keep ready for this eventuality. If there was anything in the nature of an attempted coup, then many lives could get lost.

jasjas1973 · 03/10/2020 19:29

Whether Trump lives or dies won't change America, they'll still have foreign wars, mass poverty and no healthcare system.

Obama was in for 8 years, USA didn't become a nicer place compared to Bush's tenure in the WH.

Trumps illness will make life harder for Biden, who is in a lose lose situation.... why he has taken down any personal campaign stuff.

Aside, is there no one in either party who isn't in their 70s in the USA ?
Crazy that people who are near death, are running (or want to run) the most powerful country on earth.
