To think we shouldn't wish ill on Trump?

I must admit I'm not proud of how I felt when I heard Trump has Covid. Dislike him as much as most of us. Let's be honest, it wasn't a feeling of sadness.

But I feel a bit awful about my reaction, I would have hoped I wouldn't wish anyone ill / dead, so I'm trying to get over myself and grow up!

Is it not a really horrible thing, to be glad someone might be seriously ill / die, even if they are a cunt? He's still a person?

Dead? No. Uncomfortable, scared, worried, in pain, weak during and after, traumatised, ongoing issues, yes.
If he had to choose between drugs to save him and the roof over his head then maybe he may experience some of the issues the 200,000+ have faced. If he comes out of the other side of this with just an ounce of humility and empathy, I will be happy. He can then face the outcome of his criminal actions.

OperationallySound · 03/10/2020 21:04

@SchrodingersImmigrant

I agree OP. Being gleeful about someone getting covid makes the person equal shit🤷🏻 Yes, we can say "karma, innit" but people are genuinely celebrating it. That's sick tbh.

"Well he would laugh" is a crap argument by the people who laugh at him. It makes them the same🤷🏻

I disagree. His actions (or lack thereof) have directly resulted in the death of many Americans. It has led to rising tensions between US citizens, and white supremacists feeling emboldened and endorsed. That's a whole level above being glad he has covid and is in no way comparable.

That said, I don't wish him dead, but I don't care what happens to him and I think America would be a better country without him in charge.

Hopoindown31 · 03/10/2020 21:05

I'm not actively wishing him ill, I just simply couldn't care less what happens to the man.

corythatwas · 03/10/2020 21:09

SheepandCow, it wasn't about eye for an eye. I don't care about revenge, just about the risk of other people being murdered or dying in a civil uprising. About the threat to democracy.

If the man can go quietly, then I would wish him no harm.

corythatwas · 03/10/2020 21:11

And no, I have no interest in seeing him uncomfortable, weak or frightened. All I want is for him not to be able to cause more deaths and threaten democracy. Once he has been removed from power I don't care if he is as happy as the day is long. As long as small children are not dying in refugee camps and white supremacists are not emboldened to take to arms.

Butchyrestingface · 03/10/2020 21:15

I want him dead. Once he has obliged me, I will try to formulate #BeKind thoughts about him. Smile

TimeStoleMyYouth · 03/10/2020 21:22

Trump is someone who apparently doesn’t have a single saving grace ... I have never read anything about him that suggests that he is a kind, compassionate person.

I wouldn’t go so far as to wish him dead, but I wouldn’t be upset if he had a hard time and suffered ... but of course he will receive the very best care available and is unlikely to think of all the Americans who have died/suffered extreme illness with minimal/no medical care.

Helmetbymidnight · 03/10/2020 21:27

hes an arsehole. hes disastorous to america and the world.

its not some test of humanity how you respond to this. its fine to wish him dead.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 03/10/2020 22:02

I would never wish him dead, no one deserves that. But I wouldn't object to him having a case that makes Derek Draper's look mild. My first reaction was I hope its more of a Boris (ie intensive care) then a prince Charles (just mild), i don't think that makes me a horrible person. His complacency over the whole crisis has been despicable and it would be only right he learns the hard way.

ZolaGrey · 03/10/2020 22:11

I am 100% comfortable with wishing certain people dead. No issue with it whatsoever.

thebeatofthedrum · 03/10/2020 22:21

I don't want him to die. I want him to survive. I want him to be voted out of office. I want him to be prosecuted for everything and anything that they can throw at him. I want him to live with what he's done.

Sargass0 · 04/10/2020 05:29

SheepandCow

I know he isn't the President of Mexico

I was referring to his family separation policy.

WinWinnieTheWay · 04/10/2020 05:38

I don't wish him dead, but it would be awful if he only had a mild case. Imagine how dismissive and gloating he would be. He needs to be very poorly as he is only capable of making decisions based on his own life experiences.

wigglerose · 04/10/2020 08:35

I hold contradictory thoughts.

How much compassion was there for Hillary when she was ill with pneumonia?
Zilch. Nada.

How much concern when people wish the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar dead? Nothing.

I still think it's wrong to wish ill for him.

I think the time for "you go low, we go high" has long since departed, because if your opponent has no shame and won't behave in a professional, neutral way, and won't respect the rules of civilised political opposition or disagreement, it doesn't matter.

However, I'm not surprised lots of people are gleeful about it. If I were an American and had lost a friend or family member or was struggling with medical bills as a result of covid-19 well, I wouldn't be feeling terribly charitable either.

He and the Republican party brought it on themselves.

I just hope the evil fuckers don't use it to say "Look! It's not that bad!" if he survives. I know healthy people in their mid-thirties who have been knocked sideways by it, let alone anything with vulnerabilities.

mumwon · 04/10/2020 08:50

what I remember is his refusal to allow & sneering at reporters wearing masks & his tactical encouragement of his followers to crowd & not wear masks at his election melees.
Ditto at his not wearing one when he visited a PPE production firm where everybody else was required to wear one
At his family not wearing them in the auditorium at the debate
& the Rose room when he announce & presented the new prospective judge & all the other meetings this week
he endangered peoples lives
Do I wish him dead - no - do I think its deserved Karma - Oh yes well deserved -

Bluegrass · 04/10/2020 09:10

If the allegation from Ivana Trump (later withdrawn) that he raped her, or the allegation that he raped a then 13 year old at an orgy with Epstein (later withdrawn), or any number of the other allegations of sexual assault against him were proven...I’d have a hard time giving a shit if he died, although I’d much rather see him soundly beaten.

The problem is as we saw with Epstein, huge amounts of money can make legal problems disappear for a long time. Combine money with political power and you are almost untouchable, so how can we ever hope that Trump will face the sort of justice that an ordinary man would have to face.

Dozer · 04/10/2020 09:19

Sexual violence crimes are only rarely ‘proven’ in court, eg because of failures in criminal justice laws and systems. A perpetrator not having been tried or convicted doesn’t mean he was innocent.

Bluegrass · 04/10/2020 09:27

Of course, but for the benefit of MN Towers I feel like I have to be scrupulously fair on the status of allegations against Trump not having been proven. I know what I believe.

thecatsatonthewall · 04/10/2020 10:07

He is looking quite well and is framing his spell in Hospital as great leadership from the worlds greatest nation...

Listening to him, i think anyone wishing him dead will be sadly disappointed.

EachPeachPearSums · 04/10/2020 10:13

I could give a shit if people wish him ill or not. It's all one big distraction and way to get the left all tied up in knots over their own behaviour towards an absolute monster of a man. People can have and express whatever the hell they want. How about we stick to the issues.
