DH has been eating crisps he doesn’t want for years

Ok not really an Aibu - but Dh just came home with a meal deal for us each - so two sandwiches drinks etc, and one packet of salt and vinegar and one cheese and onion.

I don’t like c&o (which he knows) and Dh just leaves his crisps. I said “oh are you not eating the ... he said no I don’t fancy that flavour...

It turns out that he always buys both for me as he still gets confused the by the green/blue packet thing! He’s being doing it for years and I’ve never noticed.

So Aibu to ask - is it really that hard to tell the difference between the two - even though walkers does muddy the waters!

Can he not read? Confused

Gobelinoisawitchescat · 23/09/2020 15:16

@ColleagueFromMars I pointed this out too... he just has a complete mental block. I can’t believe he’s been suffering cheese and onion for the sake of getting the right salt and vinegar. It appears that, whatever the brand he just thinks “I’ll get a blue and a green one then I’ve got it covered” Grin

Colour blind maybe

Nottherealslimshady · 23/09/2020 15:21

Well that's his own fault. Just read it 😂

AryaStarkWolf · 23/09/2020 15:22

Yeah I mean it literally says it on the pack, there is no excuse!

valtandsinegar · 23/09/2020 15:24

YABU for eating meal deals at home!

iMatter · 23/09/2020 15:24

Where I grew up (in the stone age admittedly) cheese and onion was green and salt and vinegar was blue. I still think the "new" colours are wrong!

AnnaFour · 23/09/2020 15:26

Well, that's kind of sweet really. But confusing as to why he doesn't read the packets!

RadioActiveBrain · 23/09/2020 15:26

yes I agree with @iMatter. Cheese and onion was green when we were kids so clearly it's wrong now Grin

Gobelinoisawitchescat · 23/09/2020 15:27

@SpacePug interesting thought - but as he knows it needs to be green and blue am assuming not - though interesting you say that as we often disagree on the colour of something (as in whether it is in fact green or blue).

Whilst a bit worrying he can’t read the packet it is still very sweet that he goes to those lengths to make sure you get the crisps you like.....what a good hubby!

x2boys · 23/09/2020 15:28

Yes me ,too @iMatter and it think Smith's crisps still are ?

Sakura7 · 23/09/2020 15:28

YABU for choosing salt and vinegar over the (far superior) cheese and onion Grin

Gobelinoisawitchescat · 23/09/2020 15:29

Agree that the colours are now wrong...
Cheese and onion should be green (like spring onions)
Salt and vinegar should be blue - like the sea.

However as PPs have pointed out - he could just read them!

And don’t get me started on buying the wrong tampons Wink

I would think that was odd, but I have a similar conundrum. I have no idea if wer use skimmed or semi skimmed milk and I don't know which colour top goes with which milk. I do the weekly shop online and the one we use is in favourites, but when it's not available I rely on my instincts and get it wrong, sometimes, not reliably.

vodkaredbullgirl · 23/09/2020 15:30

@iMatter i remember cheese and onion been that colour.

FunorFitness · 23/09/2020 15:32

Maybe rather than not be able to read the packet, it's more likely that he can't remember which one you like so gets both?

Gobelinoisawitchescat · 23/09/2020 15:32

@dudsville ooh it’s like a similar system...

Red - the most boring one (skimmed milk/plain crisps)
Green - the popular choice
Blue - a bit rich but people like that sort of thing (cheese and onion)

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 23/09/2020 15:33

Dont take him to Australia. Salt and vimegar is PINK! Shock

Gobelinoisawitchescat · 23/09/2020 15:34

@FunorFitness sort of I think... he does almost know that I don’t like cheese and onion - but then the whole green/blue thing confuses him on top!
I think it’s like a mental block from how he describes it.

Gobelinoisawitchescat · 23/09/2020 15:35

@StrictlyAFemaleFemale but...... what would they do about prawn cocktail? Am guessing they are civilised enough not to have it as an option,

Green walkers have always been Salt and Vinegar.
Blue ones have always been Cheese and Onion.

From their website:

Answer: Contrary to popular belief, Walkers Cheese and Onion have always been in blue packets, and Salt and Vinegar have always been in green packets. We don't have a plan to change this, as it's signature to our brand.

That's so sweet of him, awww

NonstopNC · 23/09/2020 15:39

Very very sweet - I wish someone would buy 2 packets of crisps just so I would end up with the one I liked.

Yeh but Walkers have always been wrong!
From memory Tudor always abided by the correct green/blue coding Grin
