DH has been eating crisps he doesn’t want for years

Ok not really an Aibu - but Dh just came home with a meal deal for us each - so two sandwiches drinks etc, and one packet of salt and vinegar and one cheese and onion.

I don’t like c&o (which he knows) and Dh just leaves his crisps. I said “oh are you not eating the ... he said no I don’t fancy that flavour...

It turns out that he always buys both for me as he still gets confused the by the green/blue packet thing! He’s being doing it for years and I’ve never noticed.

So Aibu to ask - is it really that hard to tell the difference between the two - even though walkers does muddy the waters!

I remember Walkers always being ‘different’. Yes thank you @vanillandhoney I just saw your post. I definitely agree.

Every other brand has always been green for cheese and blue for vinegar, but I’ve known about Walkers being exceptional since I was a young girl (helped by the fact I used to have to serve them at the café at Open Days my Dad used to help set up 😁).

Apologies my last comment was meant for @StephenKong not you op

This is my favourite thread of 2020.

I love all things crisps.

Someone mentioned Asda fake chipsticks - what are they? I could cry that they don’t make them anymore !

Gobelinoisawitchescat · 25/09/2020 10:51

@Crumpetsforthequeen poor StephenKong - it must take them about seven hours to do a weekly shop as they scrutinise every label, painstakingly showing their reading prowess and assuming anyone who accidentally picks up the normal rather than light butter must be illiterate. Wink

I actually think this is really sweet & in fairness, some things just don’t stick for some reason. I’ve been married for 10 years now but I still have to be reminded of what size clothes my husband wears if I am ever buying something for him. No matter how many times he tells me, or how many times I check one of his T-shirt’s, I never ever remember!

No Yanbu. It still gets me sometimes. And there’s still some brands do blue for s&v. It never used to be blue. It ways green. Or maybe yellow!???

To be fair, reading ‘Cheese and Onion’ or ‘Salt and Vinegar’ on a packet doesn’t take a lot of reading ‘prowess’, so that was a bit snippy to StephenKong.

Oysterbabe · 25/09/2020 12:06

Lidl do their own chipsticks too in ready salted, cheese and onion and salt and vinegar.

anon666 · 25/09/2020 12:15

I get this. In most brands cheese and onion is green in colour (eg Hula hoops) but in Walkers it's blue.

So I can imagine the confusion.

TheKeatingFive · 25/09/2020 12:20

Walkers totally fucks with your system 1 thinking.

We use colour to navigate when we’re shopping on autopilot.

Walkers are horrid anyway. Switch to better crisps that play by the rules.

Barrowmanfan22 · 25/09/2020 12:55

[quote vanillandhoney]Green walkers have always been Salt and Vinegar.
Blue ones have always been Cheese and Onion.

From their website:

Answer: Contrary to popular belief, Walkers Cheese and Onion have always been in blue packets, and Salt and Vinegar have always been in green packets. We don't have a plan to change this, as it's signature to our brand.

Absolutely not true. I remember the change .

Gobelinoisawitchescat · 25/09/2020 16:10

@Cadent it was I agree but I wouldn’t say unprovoked if you read back though the comments - I ignored most which were aimed at me, but got a bit fed up when starting to aim at others.

I’m very disappointed- they’re nothing like chipsticks! Was expecting the melty, stick to your teeth types.
