DH has been eating crisps he doesn’t want for years

Ok not really an Aibu - but Dh just came home with a meal deal for us each - so two sandwiches drinks etc, and one packet of salt and vinegar and one cheese and onion.

I don’t like c&o (which he knows) and Dh just leaves his crisps. I said “oh are you not eating the ... he said no I don’t fancy that flavour...

It turns out that he always buys both for me as he still gets confused the by the green/blue packet thing! He’s being doing it for years and I’ve never noticed.

So Aibu to ask - is it really that hard to tell the difference between the two - even though walkers does muddy the waters!

@skittycat that’s brilliant - Am adding that to my “all crisps have Saturday expiry date” fact to make me the queen of crisp trivia!

@KetoPenguin I went to a British foods store and bought some today.

I agree, they ARE mank Grin. Wish I'd seen your comment before I parted with my $3.10.

blametheparents · 24/09/2020 17:25

@TwoShades1

Don’t ever let him come to Australia! Salt and vinegar are purple here! Dark Blue is usually plain/salted. Green is usually chicken flavour. Some brands do a light blue which is sour cream and chive. The cheese and onion ones are yellow.

My mind is obviously blown! 🤯🤯🤯
But, since we’ll never be able to travel again anyway Wink (thanks Covid!!) I guess it wont affect me too much!

FelicisNox · 24/09/2020 17:43

Is he colour blind?

PixellatedPixie · 24/09/2020 17:45

In South Africa salt and vinegar is blue which always made sense to me as it’s like the sea / fish and chips etc and cheese and onion is green like a spring onion.

Arewenearly · 24/09/2020 17:50

@CoralFish

And don’t get me started on buying the wrong tampons

I'm really hoping he doesn't feel the need to use the wrong ones himself in this case!!

Haven't read all the answers, so sorry if somebody has already said. Asda do own brand ready salted chip sticks and they are really nice.
Jeeperscreepers69 · 24/09/2020 18:00

It clearly states on package or does he not read???

StephenKong · 24/09/2020 18:02

We were there several pages ago, but it's more complicated than this. Apparently. Not sure how, exactly.
Sunrainsnow · 24/09/2020 18:25

Walkers Roast Chicken crisps are my favourite (and I’m a vegetarian).

Op - your husband sounds incredibly sweet, if a little dim.

Gobelinoisawitchescat · 24/09/2020 18:33

@Arewenearly either you’ve quoted the wrong post - or... you have a very unusual substitute for tampons Grin

I have for some reason Grin sorry

Vynalbob · 24/09/2020 18:44

Yep walkers have always been wrong on s&v ch&o colours but literally scoffed up most of their competitors (who had it correctly coloured). I believe Golden Wonder are still standing tall (best quality as well).
Up in the North East it used to be Tudor Crisps (TV ad. Newspaper boy: 'buy a canny bag of Tudor with me wages'.

Tarano17 · 24/09/2020 18:59

People who are colour blind are unable to differentiate between blue and green

Gobelinoisawitchescat · 24/09/2020 20:00

As people had mentioned colour blindness so much me and Dh just did an online colour blindness test...
Obviously not massively scientific but I got a result of fine - Dh got a result that suggested he has slight issues differentiating red and green!

Ohhh how romantic and a bit ...

Matildalamp · 24/09/2020 20:55

It’s really sweet of him, although you could end up with a houseful of crisps no one wants to eat!

Merryweather80 · 24/09/2020 21:20

Hedgehog crisps were amazing when I was little. You don't see them anywhere anymore. I cried at the thought they were made out of actual hedgehogs - I was about 5.

Nothing7 · 24/09/2020 21:24

Sooo sweet!
Was just thinking there are loads of brands that do cheese and onion in green - golden wonder, McCoy’s, smiths, Pringles 🤦‍♀️

Commonwasher · 24/09/2020 21:31

Kettle chips must really confuse him.

Mamalexi343 · 24/09/2020 21:48

My DH is green/blue colourblind and red/pink/orange colourblind, he can't tell the difference between the 2 as well as ready salted, prawn cocktail and roast chicken flavour, he finds it frustrating so doesn't much bother with them.

Trivial pursuit is always interesting though 😂

You don't have to choose food by colour of packaging alone. They also have words printed on them. If you can read, there's no need for frustration.
Gobelinoisawitchescat · 24/09/2020 22:03

@Mamalexi343 to be fair - many the time I’ve been swizzled into having to answer a sport question when it should have been entertainment! The pink and orange get more similar looking with every edition!

OP posts:
Gobelinoisawitchescat · 24/09/2020 22:04

@StephenKong oh stop going on. The reality is if you walked around a supermarket and had to read every label rather than recognise by colour you’d probably not bother.

He sounds very sweet and thoughtful.

Was your comment really necessary?
