I once emailed them about their lack of vegetarian options and was basically told I should be happy with fries and salad!! Grin

I thought they did veggie stuff now?
I didn't eat meat for about twenty years - I used to go in regularly and ask for a veggie burger to make a point. Was a bit hacked off when they started doing them (they weren't great).

I used to like burger king bean burgers.

anon5000 · 01/07/2020 22:46

McDonalds is a burger restaurant so YABU.

Onesailwait · 01/07/2020 22:47

It can't be that far off, they released it last year here in Canada for a trial. It was ok not as good as A&w beyond meat burger

covetingthepreciousthings · 01/07/2020 22:48

The veggie options at McDonald's are disappointing and I agree it would be good if they did as a vegetarian who misses quarter pounders and McMuffins HOWEVER I also feel if you're vegetarian / vegan for ethical reasons McDonald's possibly isn't the best place to dine..

squeekums · 01/07/2020 22:54

I dont see a need for it and the more they do the more they risk screwing up my order and giving me a fake burger, i feel for the person who on the end of me returning a fake burger, it wouldnt be pretty

EnterNight · 01/07/2020 22:57

They don't have the room for meat free grills so I doubt it could ever happen. Even BKs meat free option was cooked on a grill with meat.

itsbetterthanabox · 01/07/2020 23:00

Yeah they need to do a good vegan burger not those weird veggie goujons.

Crankley · 01/07/2020 23:00

No thanks. I've never understood why non meat eaters want their food to resemble meat. Seems strange to me.

scissy · 01/07/2020 23:02

See even though their current veggie options are a bit dull (I mean have they heard of seasoning/spice?!) that's why I prefer their bean burgers, harder to get those confused than a "fake meat" one.

CluelessBaker · 01/07/2020 23:03

YANBU. They are far behind the times - Burger King and KFC both do a vegan option now so it’s daft that Mcdonald’s don’t.

IlanaWexler · 01/07/2020 23:04

YANBU. & it needs to actually be vegetarian, unlike the Burger King one!

KuruptFM · 01/07/2020 23:04

Go for it. We should definitely be trying to promote meat free meals at fast food restaurants. They make millions off the back of misery so the more plant based products available the better.

CluelessBaker · 01/07/2020 23:05

No thanks. I've never understood why non meat eaters want their food to resemble meat. Seems strange to me.

It’s really quite startling that you haven’t managed the leap of imagination required to realise that maybe non-meat eaters like the taste / texture / familiarity of meat but don’t want an animal to die to satisfy the urge. How funny that it’s never occurred to you before!

Thehop · 01/07/2020 23:05

bk Do a lovely bean burger. McDonald’s used to do one then swapped it for those crappy goujons

slipperywhensparticus · 01/07/2020 23:08

I think beanbutgers would be cool especially if it was gluten free too

Sadly they wont even do a gluten free bun

Holothane · 01/07/2020 23:10

I love a Hallumi with salad burger from our local chippy it’s a treat as it’s expensive

RufustheRowlingReindeer · 01/07/2020 23:11

In 1996 they did a nice veggie burger...almost curryish In flavour

We went abroad around that time and they did an egg burger which was lush

Sparklesocks · 01/07/2020 23:14

As pp have said they don’t have separate grills/tools for meat free items (and seem unable/unwilling to change that) - same at Burger King which is why they don’t explicitly advertise the meat free burger as a veggie option

Patsypie · 01/07/2020 23:15

Ffs. Find something else to fret about.

RufustheRowlingReindeer · 01/07/2020 23:17

Nope

Can’t see it

Onesailwait · 01/07/2020 23:17

Gluten free buns would be awesome. You can ask for a lettuce wrap instead of a bun. It's pretty good

Cetado · 01/07/2020 23:17

Does the veggie deluxe not exist anymore? I haven't been to a McDonald's for years now as none near me Sadbut always used to enjoy the veggie burger.
