To not know the name of the guy I'm dating?

This will probably all sound a bit strange!

I've been dating a man for a couple of months but I don't actually know his name and now we're too far in for me to ask him! We met at a mutual friend's party and my friend introduced me to him. She told me his name but it isn't an an English name or one that I've heard before so I only caught the general sound of it, rather than the actual name itself.

We've been going on dates for a couple of months now and it's too late for me to ask him his name. I can't ask my friend his name because she'll also think it's very odd that we've been dating for 2 months and I don't know.

I've been avoiding calling him by his name when together and I'm not sure how I can find this out!

Anyone else been in a situation like this?

I doubt it

PeppaisaBitch · 20/05/2020 07:10

Ask him to remind you have to pronounce it? Or ask your friend? Don't you have him in social media? Or go out with mutual friends who can say it?

GinDaddyRedux · 20/05/2020 07:12

My word.

PicsInRed · 20/05/2020 07:13

Ask him how he spells it.

mynameiscalypso · 20/05/2020 07:13

Does he have social media? Can you find him in Facebook? If it makes you feel any better, I didn't know how to pronounce my DH's (very English) surname until we got married!

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 20/05/2020 07:14

Ask him how is spelt?

How are you dating in lockdown ?

LunaLula83 · 20/05/2020 07:15
Biscuit
TitianaTitsling · 20/05/2020 07:16

How do you have him in your contacts?!

Soubriquet · 20/05/2020 07:16

Facebook? Twitter? Instagram?

Anything?

Stampy84 · 20/05/2020 07:16

Fair play to you managing to date the last couple of months, just when lockdown started!

Troubledinparadise1 · 20/05/2020 07:16

We met up before lockdown started and have been doing facetime dates since! He doesn't do social media

Get him to email you.

Fanthorpe · 20/05/2020 07:18

How do you have him stored in your phone? When you’re together ask him to update the contact details for you.

Seriously this is a strange situation.

Godzillasonice · 20/05/2020 07:19

Not quite the same thing and back before face book was around I didn’t know my best friends name for 5 months. I was at secondary school so it was called in the register but for some reason I couldn’t seem to remember it. So I just avoided saying it for ages until one day I just admitted to her that I had a mental block when it came to her name. She thought it was hilarious and we are still great friends 25 years later.

okiedokieme · 20/05/2020 07:19

Ask him for his email address, he may use his name?

That is hilarious! You’ll have to go bowling to find it, it is the only way.

FOJN · 20/05/2020 07:23

Does he do the kind of job where the company has a "meet the team" page on their website?
You might possibly need to work on your assertiveness skills, the time to admit you hadn't caught his name was when you arranged the first date.

Ohtherewearethen · 20/05/2020 07:24

I really don't know why you can't just ask your friend. Just laugh about it. If she knows you've been 'dating' how did you tell her who you were dating? If you've been talking to her about him, or her you, how have you been describing him? This doesn't seem.to add up.

Ohtherewearethen · 20/05/2020 07:25

*referring to him I should have said, not describing him

Ohtherewearethen · 20/05/2020 07:27

You could ask him if he has any nicknames it goes by a shortened version of his name

Soubriquet · 20/05/2020 07:27

Yeah...you’re screwed Grin

Is your friend a good enough friend to help you without dobbing you in?

Notredamn · 20/05/2020 07:28

Very strange, sorry.

GreenGill · 20/05/2020 07:31

LMFAO!
You've got to find out somehow!
Email or maybe look at his driving licence and compare silly photos?
